The Abalonia is an 1840's New England style farmhouse that has been lovingly restored with particular attention to the period detail, including the original post and beams. The Ideal Location: Abalonia is located right in the center of the village, only one block to the Ogunquit beach and the entrance to the Marginal Way (Ogunquit's famous cliff walk leading to Perkins Cove). Abalonia is set back from the road, has open gardens so guests are able to peacefully enjoy being in the heart of the village. Amenities Include: All inn rooms have new Flat Screen TVs, individually controlled air conditioners, wireless internet, and heat. Our rooms have either one king size bed or one queen size bed. All rooms have private baths. Abalonia is the quintessential Maine coast lodging experience and a proud member of the Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce, Maine Innkeepers Association, and Maine Tourism Association.

Great location if you want to be in the action downtown Ogunquit. Traffic on this Columbus Day weekend was a bit nuts however and tough to get in and out of this complex. Good coffee and pastries for breakfast in the office, but unfortunately doesn't open until 8:00 AM. We were in a lower level room, which is not the greatest when there's a party going on above you. Fortunately, it was only for one of the three nights during our stay. Room was well appointed and clean. I would suggest adding another chair in the room and adding a small table. Also upsize the pillows. Had a king size bed with these tiny pillows. Didn't take advantage of the outdoor jacuzzi, but it looked very welcoming. Well maintained property I don't have a problem recommending.

We stayed for two nights at the end of our trip. The owner greeted us and was friendly, offering complimentary coffee and pastries. The inn is located just steps from shops, bars and restaurants and we did not have an issue parking. This is a very old, charming property. We were given room 13 on the third floor of Maxwell House. I’m not superstitious so this wasn’t an issue. There are no elevators so the owner offered to fetch our bags. To be honest, we felt a bit awkward so we left them in the car and travelled light up to the third floor. Everywhere is beautifully decorated and this is a lovely property with good owners but we did have some issues with our room; Room 13. It is very claustrophobic. Half the room is under a sloping ceiling meaning that you cannot get out of bed at night without performing an odd movement around the end of the bed as the ceiling is so low. The bathroom is nicely appointed but very small. If you are six feet tall, your knees will touch the side of the vanity when seated. The shower is superb and powerful and everything was spotlessly clean. The bed in this room feels luxurious but was very uncomfortable. I guess that’s a subjective thing though. The air conditioning unit is extremely noisy even on low fan and sleep mode. We had to turn it off both nights and use the ceiling fan. There is literally nowhere to hang anything other than a crop top. A former closet recess with a hanging rail is set above a fridge on top of which is a coffee maker. In short, this is a lovely place with large, spacious rooms which is why we booked it at $548 for two nights. We were wowed by the photos on the website showing olde world charm. What we got was the last room available and a big disappointment. A closet on the third floor which does not feature anywhere on the website. I’m quite sure that anyone staying in any of the rooms featured would have a great time. Sadly, this was not our experience. Any more than two nights and we would have checked out early. Such a pity given how nice the property and owners are. I just think that someone had to have the dud room and this time it was us.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 13 or probably any on the third floor of Maxwell House.

These pictures may be some rooms but ours was awful - not better than an old inexpensive hotel. I believe unit #1, first floor next to the office. The deck overlooked the hot tub and parking lot so not what we expected. The room had an awful bathroom with tiny shower stall, no place to put anything around the sink. Refrigerator in closet so no hanging clothes, only one end table, tight king bed arrangement with small pillows, window a/c on and off all night. I booked this Inn off these pictures but our room was dismal at best. Great location and the room was clean so we gave them two star.

Great rooms, great pool, hot tub, friendly service, pleasant grounds for work or people watching, and perfect location exactly in the center of Ogunquit downtown with everything close by. Great value for money. The coffee and pastries were great too.

Very nice place! No complaints. Location is great and walking distance to everything. They very nicely allow you to arrive and park before check in. And parking in Oguinquit is very challenging! And then they email you when your room is ready! Very nice customer service touches that are so rare these days. Would recommend and would stay here again!

This was a bff trip and we were able to score one night at the Abalonia. We were happy from the moment we checked in. We were greeted and walked to our room with a quick rundown of what to expect and where things were. The room was spotless and smelled clean. The Inn is about two buildings from everything in Ogunquit so we walked to shopping and dinner. In the morning there were complimentary delicious morning treats from a local bakery as well as coffee in the office. We were happy with our choice and would stay there again. We never did try out the saltwater pool or hot tub but did see a lot of people using them. Tip: If you are looking for Netflix etc for downtime bring your own as their tv is just cable.

Absolute perfect location! This is the 2nd time staying here. A short walk to the beach. We lucked out with the tides. Don’t go at high tide because you’ll be packed in like sardines. Great family run inn. Definitely be back next year.

Don't stay in Room 16. This sounds like the room someone else commented on. The room had only one chair, there wasn't any place to put wash clothes, shampoo, etc. in the shower. The bathroom sink was in a cubbyhole with one little shelve. The fridge was in a closet which made it useless to hang long clothing. The best I can say was the location of the inn was great and the room was clean.

Thank you for your feedback. We will certainly investigate how we can add more shelving to the bathroom. We make ourselves available during your stay and can easily add a chair or remove one from the rooms as we often do when a guest makes that request. Room 16 is one of our deck rooms and has a total of 5 chairs including the 4 on the private deck. We do hope you will give us another shot and let us know during your stay how we can help make your stay more enjoyable. - Jesse
