For many years we have been staying at Juniper Hill when we visit in September. We currently are exempt from certifying a 14-day quarantine when staying in Maine because of the state we live so we decided to come to Maine in July this year. My husband and I stayed at Juniper Hill and had a great stay.

The location is about a 0.5 mile walk to the beach through a trail and neighborhood and even shorter walk to the Village. We walked the beach in the morning and even walked with our chairs, cooler and towels for a beach day. We enjoyed the outdoor pool everyday too. It seems like one is heated and one is not, but I may be wrong. There is an indoor pool, but we didn't use it on this trip. They have taken out some chairs and tables at the outdoor pool, but there were plenty for the number of people using the pool and we could easily distance from others. Jacuzzi was closed because of COVID but frankly I would not have used it to keep physical distance from others. I assume due to COVID the hotel was very quiet, although we have stayed when it was mostly full and it still is a quiet property.

Check-in and check-out was safe and quick and the entire property is very clean. They replace towels and take trash everyday and every third day they do a full clean of the room.... they will do it more often upon request. I appreciated this very much and met our needs. All staff were wearing masks, always friendly and we felt very safe during our entire stay. People staying there were also friendly and respectful of physical distancing.

We walked to the bakery each morning and then walked back to our room and enjoyed our breakfast, we had two chairs and a table, under our covered balcony in front of our room. We requested a second floor room facing the road/pool. There are quieter rooms in the main hotel which we have stayed in that are lovely, but this trip we decided we wanted the option of sitting on the balcony. We walked to Perkins Cove and the Village for outdoor seated early dinners. It was just what we needed to relax for a few days during this pandemic. Thanks Juniper Hill!

We stayed at this hotel multiple times for the past 15 years and every single time we were very welcome and felt at home. The staff is always friendly and helpful and ready to meet your needs. The property is exceptional, rooms are clean and comfortable. The outside pools are very pleasant to stay at and both adults and kids enjoy them. There are plenty of tables inside and out to enjoy a take out or a lobster dinner from one of the local shacks. A short walk to the village and a 10 min stroll to the beach makes the location ideal. We can't wait to come back.

This was our first visit to Juniper Hill. It is a traditional motel style building with an interior lobby entry but totally updated. Rooms are spacious and well appointed with crown moldings, stylish very effective room darkening curtains and relaxing furniture. The beds are new and very comfortable. Pillows are kinda small but there are many. Thermostat is easy to operate, responsive and HVAC is quiet. The bathroom has 2 sinks with Koehler faucets and are separated by a privacy door. Tile is new in the tub/shower and floor. The grout is immaculately clean. The room has a refrigerator, good sized TV, work desk and decent WiFi. The public areas; pool, lobby and grounds are all well maintained. This hotel is an excellent value! The hotel is a short pleasant walk to restaurants, shops, beach, theater and Marginal Way. Ogunquit is a great weekend destination. Can’t wait to return.

This inn has a lot of great things about it, but I’ll start with why I lowered it to 3 stars. My husband, 2 year old, and I stayed in the Perkins building first floor. Our room was very clean and nicely put together, however you can HEAR EVERYTHING. Anytime someone on the floor above us walked, you could hear them. So when they were walking around at 3:30am (don’t exactly know why), you can hear the creaking and footsteps. This leads me to the next thing…we could hear the people in the room next door talking (the walls are very thin!).

Additionally, the door are INCREDIBLY loud. There’s really no way around it, but you can at least try to close it slowly to avoid banging. Unfortunately, our next door neighbors didn’t seem to care about closing the door quietly. Hence, they kept going in-and-out of their room with the door banging shut behind them. This was especially frustrating when they did it every night and every morning around 6:00am. We could even hear the surrounding doors shut, and sometimes are walls would vibrate from it. This really put a damper on our vacation, because for parents of a toddler…we need our sleep!!!

Now to the pros…I loved that the inn was within walking distance to downtown ogunquit. We took full advantage of this! I also loved the paved foot path to the beach, which was a 10 min walk from our room. The grounds were very well kept and the staff was incredibly friendly. It was a beautiful area! I also enjoyed their two outdoor pools (they were side by side) and didn’t feel that it ever got overcrowded.

In the end, I don’t think we will be staying at the Juniper Hill Inn again because even though everything was conveniently located and there were some perks, this mama’s sleep is way too precious and I cannot handle another vacation there if the doors will still be so heavy that they bang every time someone leaves/enters their room.

Hubby and I had enough of Covid Lockdown and hanging around the house, with only fertive forays to the grocery store. We needed long horizons and comfort, and were delighted that Juniper Hill was open in a limited fashion (rooms in one wing, limited attention from cleaning staff, no coffee or breakfast snacks.) It was good enough for us. Every staff member we enountered was appropriate to Covid precautions, but there was a real smile and happy tone to their greetings. It was no big deal to make our own bed, or leave our towels at the door. Some days we seemed to be the only guests around, but we felt safe, warm, and cozy. An we had such easy access to the beach for long walks, fresh sea breezes, and long vistas. Our great thanks to them all for making it possible.

I booked Juniper Hill Inn after reading reviews and was still pleasantly surprised. JH exceeded my expectations. It was a lovely little resort and the rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable for 3 of us (our son is 15). The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly and definitely made a great first impression for us which I always find important. There is a keurig in the room and also fresh coffee at the front desk area. It's an easy walk into town and there is a nice path leading towards the beach. If you plan on spending much time at the beach I would bring some type of wagon or tote. They have an indoor and outdoor pool and hot tub and we enjoyed the outdoor one during an afternoon. The grounds are beautiful and they take pride in the appearance, inside and out. Parking is such an issue in these seaside towns so it's nice to be able to park your vehicle and walk everywhere. We chose the breakfast package so walked 5 minutes away to their sister hotel and ate at Raspberries which provided good options. Otherwise there are numberous breakfast options just minutes walk away. There are many places to stay in Ogunquit, but I would higly recommend JH based on our experience.

This is setup like a typical 2 story "motel" or "Inn". But the quality is very high. NICE and clean and crisp. VERY friendly & entertaining staff. They have TWO outdoor and ONE indoor pool. The outdoor ones were nicely heated. Though they were completely booked, there was never a feeling of being crowded. We were the only ones at the pool.

Negatives: Very few. I get up at 4.30 and the fitness room doesn't open until 7, (8 a.m. for the pool) That's BRUTALLY late for most fitness enthusiasts who, when traveling, like to get their workouts done early. It's like having a breakfast diner that doesn't open until 10. Same with pool. I know there's safety issues, but it would be nice to soak in the hot tub or have a dip at 6 or 7 a.m.

Location was decent, right across the street from The Front Yard and 3-10 minute walk to at least 20 good restaurants. The only reason we would not stay here again is that it's not directly on the ocean but it IS a very manageable walk to the main entrance to Ongunguit beach.

Classy place that does a great job

We've been staying at the Juniper Hill Inn for more than 25 years on our annual vacation in Maine. The property is always clean and manicured, the rooms are clean and spacious, and the staff - from office to housekeeping and maintenance - are very pleasant and accommodating. It is usually a quiet atmosphere where guests are friendly and few children running around or screaming. It's a short walk to the town center filled with shops and restaurants, and a nice tree-lined pathway leads to the beach. The trolley stop is out front if you want to take a ride.

We had a lovely stay at Juniper Hill Inn. The staff at the front desk were very nice and helpful. The hotel is pretty with well manicured grounds when you drive up to it, prettier in person than on line, and in my opinion, nicer looking than most other places to stay that we passed along our travels. The room was spacious and clean and appeared to be newly renovated. The bed was comfortable, and the blackout curtains made for a cozy sleep. We walked to the beach, restaurants, shops and to the Marginal Way, which was just beautiful. The hotel is in a great location. We were able to enjoy the pool (they have 2 outdoor and 1 indoor pools) and hot tub, as we couldn't have asked for better weather while we were there, which only enhanced the experience. We also received a 20% discount for breakfast at their sister hotel's restaurant, which we were also able to walk to. We didn't move our car (free parking) for 2 days until we wanted to explore other areas since this was our first time in Maine. The hotel is only 1 hour from Portland, and less than 1/2 hour from Kennebunkport and Portsmouth, NH. We would definitley recommend Juniper Hill and look forward to staying there again in the future.

We always stay at the Juniper Hill Inn when we visit Ogunquit and always have a great experience. The staff is great and the rooms are always very clean and comfortable. The location is perfect for us and everything we like to do in Ogunquit is within a short walk (shops, restaurant, access to the Marginal Way, etc.). Once we park the car, we don't get back into it until we leave. We highly recommend the Juniper Hill Inn.
