We didn't know what to expect when it came to the room's condition. We didn't have much time to prepare for the trip as we started and finalized our 22 days' trip 3 weeks prior to our departure. We spent hours each evening during this period struggled to decide which area we plan to visit. However, our effort completely paid off when we entered our room. We found our room as if it was a brand new room in a newly built Inn (although it was not a brand new structure). It was flawless, clean and we could even smell the new paint although it didn't bother both of us.
Judging from the condition in our room, we immediately could tell that this Inn was really well maintained (one of the best condition room in similar properties I have stayed since the past 35 years). Based on my chat with the guy from the reception desk that evening, I learned that this Inn only operated 5 months during the whole year (they were doing the maintenance works during their off peak season). I believe the owner must have spent/poured in a significant investment to put this property into a condition we stayed that time.
Everything in our room, and the bathroom area, appeared to be brand new. Both me and my wife kept wondering if we were lucky to get that room. We really enjoyed our room and our 2 nights' stay in this particular property. The Inn was extremely quiet during our stay (we really loved it). Not too far away from the back of this property, there was a lake where we could enjoy either a morning walk or afternoon stroll.
They also have a seating area behind the reception desk where we can sit and relax while enjoying the view. Breakfast in the morning was simple, they served coffee, tea and pastries (donuts/muffins) and again, they were good enough for us to fill up our stomach before doing our activities.
Overall, this is another gem in the area and I strongly recommend this beautiful Inn to everyone who is looking for a quality accommodation in their future trips in the area. For this reason, I give them a solid 4 stars' rating.
The premises and grounds are very well maintained.
The rooms are basic but all you need and very clean. Beds are comfortable.
The price is very reasonable.
The location is so convenient to Acadia and other parts of island. The inn sits right on a bay with great views.
There is a great restaurant right next door.
BUT…..I gotta get a good nights sleep and the walls are very thin. We stayed 4 nites and 2 were good but luck of the draw we had a wedding party next door one nite very loud drunks. Called desk several times and finally around 1:30 things went quiet. The next night a couple came in late and left early…I could hear their alarm go off.
So given that there are a lot of wonderful things about the Kimball but I would recommend ear plugs and white noise app.
Location is on a quitter side of the island, far enough away from Bar Harbor to not feel the tourist trap vibe. Pretty good restaurant on the grounds, and nice view of the harbor in walking distance.
Small shopping area with a post office, a market, and a couple restaurants within walking distance.
Will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area.
