This is a simple, clean and friendly place to stay with a good on-site restaurant. The room was clean and comfortable and easy to access. The location is convenient to Acadia National Park and not too far from Bar Harbor.
I'm knocking off a few stars because the place was really noisy. I suppose that's not the motels fault but there was a full family staying next door to us and you could heat every word of every conversion - they themselves were very loud as we couldn't hear the other side of us. They have a restaurant right next door which is overpriced but everywhere else was closed and the food was decent but ... actually I'll just write a separate review for that place. Front desk was friendly enough. No lift to 2nd floor so up the stairs with a suitcase was a bit tricky. The room was very spacious and clean. The bed wasn't the most comfortable for my husband but I suppose that's personal preference. I found it quite hard too but I still got a good sleep. I booked and paid for a sea view room with a balcony - lovely spacious balcony but saying there's a sea view is a stretch. I mean, you CAN see the water but i had to zoom in on my video to show my mum lol. But, it's a perfect location for Acadia and to visit Bar Harbor and I would possibly stay again.…
Good location! We thought that the pillows were good! We have mixed reviews on this hotel. It seems that the management works hard to keep the place well maintained. Upon arrival, the bathroom appeared to not have been mopped or the tub cleaned. (Hair on floor and in tub) However, the bathroom amenities had been stocked. The room itself was clean, even dusted. Lovely balcony which was covered and had nice chairs. (Great for rain) Bed was very hard. (old-school mattress) Did not care for the green duvet. Not sure if they wash the duvets for each guest? Nice front desk staff. 24 hr coffee. Hot chocolate would be a nice add. Not enough parking stalls without parking in the restaurant parking lot. We loved the Harbor View room.
My daughter and I enjoyed our stay at Kimball Terrace North Harbor. It is close to places we wanted to see in the area, and we had everything we needed, but the pillows were very thick and a bit lumpy...I can't sleep on a 4 inch thick pillow, though, this might not be a problem for everyone. Overall, it was a decent place. Restaurant in the facility, so breakfast is available on site.
Oh well not your usual five star hotel, I give this five stars because of the wonderful front desk customer service and beautiful quiet location of the hotel right by the marina. They have coffee available actually all day in the lobby, they have a microwave if you would like to use it, a gift shop, and a wonderful lounge where kids or grown-ups can play games, use the computers and printers that are there- with a view of the outdoor swimming pool and marina. Refrigerator in room and balcony with two chairs and table to sit out on. It’s definitely not high-end but it is comfortable and the cleaning staff is wonderful also.
Staff was five star all around. Very helpful and friendly. Walking into a hotel lobby after one day and being greeted by first name goes a long way in my book! Location is on a quitter side of the island, far enough away from Bar Harbor to not feel the tourist trap vibe. Pretty good restaurant on the grounds, and nice view of the harbor in walking distance. Small shopping area with a post office, a market, and a couple restaurants within walking distance. Will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area.
Clean, quiet, great location, friendly and accommodating staff. Adjacent dining room with good food. Community microwave, pool, lounge with tv, tv's in room. Coffee available 24-7. Walk to harbor, walk to town.
If Bar Harbor is booked, or you want a quiter place to stay, stay here. Little over priced, and I would ask for non harbor view. Our harbor view was not worth the price. It's a long ways to the harbor. So not worth extra price. We had obstructed view to the harbor. But, with that said, was still cheaper then staying in Bar Harbor, so we would stay here again if ever head out that way again.
Don’t waste your time at either of these twin losers. The narrative here is always a pre-emptive excuse lack of staff—so make your own beds, empty your own trash, and get your own towels, or it’s the “end of the season” , the Restaurant is closed today and tomorrow.” Then after driving out of town for breakfast we find out the place was actually open for breakfast. We later found out the Nor’easter will stay open all winter. The night before we left I wanted take out which is offered on the Nor’easter website. After 5 tries I realized that at 530 PM on. a Thursday no answers the phone. I walked over and ordered fish and lobster bisque. When I walked back to pick up the order I asked for salt and pepper. “No we don’t have any salt and pepper.” Both fish dishes were poorly prepared and stale tasting. This at approximately 200 yards from the harbor dock. We threw it all in the trash The irony here is that we stayed at Kimball Terrace during the height of the pandemic in 2020 and had full service housekeeping and the Restaurant was at least open. The room rates were far more reasonable. The fact is that Kimball Terrace is a $49.00 per night product at a price 3 times that. It’s cheap furnishings and bedding without a coffee maker, microwave or toaster—and a fridge that freezes your cheese. We loved our time on Acadia trails this time as we always do but it’s unlikely we will return. There are far, far more people here than is even reasonable from any perspective and this mid October. As far as lodging, food and beverage…MDI has become a place for people who don’t mind waiting on long lines on the street at a restaurant for substandard food and watered down drinks and happily and grossly overpaying for all of it.…
This motel was located in the perfect place to access the Park. We had a view of the harbor which was lovely to sit on the deck and watch the boats. Hotel was clean and staff was very accomodating. Town was a walkable distance as was the food truck for breakfast.
