The Grand Summit Hotel combines the best of both worlds. It offers all the amenities you would expect from a full-service hotel like two restaurants, a health club, and a heated outdoor pool, with all the convenience of a true slopeside location. Accommodations include 230 well-appointed guest rooms, all of which were recently renovated, ranging from standard hotel rooms to suites with kitchens. Located at the entrance to the resort, the Grand Summit Hotel is a landmark and provides easy access to the resort's core winter and summer activities. The hotel's slopeside location is ideal for families looking for ski-in/ski-out access thanks to a number of beginner-level trails located nearby.

Detailed Reviews
Our family of four just finished a three night ski vacation and stayed at the Grand Summit. If you are trying to ski in the main part of the Sunday River complex (off of South Ridge Lodge) or stick to the slopes right behind the hotel, you can’t beat the location of this hotel and the ski-in/ski-out facility. The bus service (every half hour) to South ridge (7 minute ride) is also available and convenient.
The restaurant (Camp) was fine for breakfast and not bad for dinner. They were closed two of the three days we were there for lunch and dinner, but open for takeout breakfast (usually included in the room rate for two adults).
The staff are extremely friendly. We were given a room right above the boiler area which kept me up all night the first night. They gave some ear plague for that night and ended shifting me away from that room. The deluxe studio rooms come pretty well equipped if you want to prep your own meals.
The hot tub (20 mt slot) and pool (1 hr slot) requires a same day reservation which starts at 7 am. I had to get up by then and rush down to the lobby to get my preferred slot in the evenings between 4 pm and 7 pm. They book out pretty quickly and understand this is how the hotel is adapting to COVID, but the facilities available for all to use in a safe manner. I was fine with it given that the pool and the hot tub were a welcome activity after a long day of skiing to soothe my achy joints.
I will definitely come back and stay here when I want I ski at SR. I want to try Jordan, but the reviews seem much more bearish than I expected and will stick the tried&tested.

We were in desperate need of some normalcy on the midst of a pandemic. We stayed in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath suite with a full kitchen, dining room and living room. Sunday River is an incredible family ski location. It's a quintessential New New England ski resort with some of the best terrain, employees, service and skiing. We were thrilled to have a full kitchen and ate our meals in our room. Employees and guests all followed Covid protocols and we felt safe. We travelled from CT and tested for Covid prior to check in and upon arrival back home. We can't wait to return.

We stayed here in March 2022 and reserved a room with two queen beds. We wanted a suite but the going rate for two nights was $2000 (not including lift tickets.) So we reserved the room, and that was over $900 for two nights. Yikes. We had high expectations and frankly I felt this place was barely a 3 star hotel. For that kind of money, lift tickets should have been included.
Anyway, the hotel is well used and a bit tired. Not particularly luxurious.
The exercise room was large and well equipped. A plus.
The hot tub was a bit on the small side considering the capacity of the hotel. Pool was okay size.
The restaurant is Camp. Food is good (we had breakfast and dinner), and breakfast was included in the room charge. We found the staff to be a bit rude and unhappy. Maybe it had been a long season. The young lady with blond hair at the bar was miserable. I think we tipped her 30% and she still glared at us the next night when we stopped by for a drink.
They have ski check which is right by the doors to the slope. That was helpful. And it is nice to be slopeside. Really nice.
All things considered, this place is fine. It's just not close to as nice as it should be considering the cost.
As for Sunday River, it's a large resort with plenty of terrain and lifts. The ski shops are very good with lots of high end equipment and apparel. The bars are okay. Foggy Goggle is good enough, and the staff there is great.

They just can’t get it right here, we confirmed a 3pm check in request the day before and couldn’t get into our room until after 6:30pm (30min later than the guaranteed check in) Staff was less than apologetic and offered no solutions, super awesome with tired kids who just went skiing all day. They kept saying they’d call to let us know when the room was ready and never did. The one restaurant on property was “full” with an hour wait but half the tables were empty!? We checked out the pool and the locker room looked like something out of a frat house. Dirty towels everywhere, trash on the floor and no clean towels. We requested clean towels and no one came back. The room was dirty and this place was built so cheap you can hear everything in the hall, room above and room next door. We will be staying in an Airbnb condo next time. This was an absolute joke and disappointment at $350 a night. It was clear the hotel was not staffed or prepared to handle the volume of reservations they committed to.

You're stuck with Camp, the restaurant in the Grand Summit Hotel, if you want to eat and you don't want to drive to one of the bars on the Sunday River Road. Choose a granola bar in your room instead. The food is awful: a vegetarian pasta came with gummy noodles all stuck together and vegetarian chili (the soup of the day) ladled on top. The burger was mostly bun and tasteless. Those two entrees, and 2 small glasses of wine, cost over $70, with tip (the waitress tried). We're locals, our power was out for a few hours, so we drove up to the Summit. Never again. Bring your own food if you're coming for a weekend, or try the restaurants in Bethel.

Rooms were clean and resort offered everything we needed for our ski trip. We got 2 complementary breakfast per room and the food for these complementary breakfasts was the best I ever had in a complementary meal. I will definitely be back.

Stay 4/30-5/06/2021. Good post ski-season room rate through travel organization. Front desk took our VISA card # for security. Front desk advised NO housekeeping services would be available. Reasonable, since the whole hotel was practically empty. At checkOUT we were advised that it was RCI's "policy" to charge an additional $182 for housekeeping, even though NO housekeeping services were ever provided during our stay. NO mention of this was made at checkIN. We objected. Later review of VISA statement confirmed that on 5/10 they charged the $182 to our VISA, although NO housekeeping services were provided (well, unless you count a roll of toilet paper we had to request from staff - that's pretty expensive toilet paper).

Horrible room, Murphy bed about 18" away from wall, can't move back and no headboard, can't sit up and even if you could, no light for reading. Nothing worked in bathroom, faucets almost impossible to turn on, shower had hot then cold water, constantly changing and drain clogged, dirty toilet bowl, no good place to hang hand towel or 2 bath towels, kitchen ancient, small tiny half fridge, two burner no oven stove, burners permanently slanted. Parking very distant, not much help at front and no valet, very overpriced restaurant. A few good things, comfortable bed, nice towels and toiletries, staff. Only one cleaning staff to a room, early in the week, one who didn't speak English at all, the one end of week better.

The location sells it, really. Check in was easy and the room was very clean. Place is dated a bit but in good shape considering winter activities aren’t gentle on buildings/carpets/floors/walls.
I booked the smallest room I could as it was just myself. The murphy bed was better than I originally assumed it to be. Plenty of pillows. No headboard, though. Clean bathroom.
Drove up to South Ridge about 8AM and had front row parking for a killer day on the mountain. It’s Disneyland for skiers and terrain for everyone. The Grand Summit isn’t the cheapest room in the area but convenience costs money and it was worth it.

Staff was wonderful!! I would give them a 5++. They went out of their way to accommodate our requests, and were charming and helpful.
The hotel rooms need to be updated. They are clean, that is the best that can be said.
Although it is conveniently trailside and ski in and out, there is NO lift or trail information on the hotel TV. What? I have been skiing for over 35 years, and every other hotel I have stayed in has had that info! The website and app are not updated regularly and lift holds and shut downs are essential info for skiers to have.
Camp restaurant has a pricy, limited menu. No a la carte breakfast is available, not even a muffin. The cost of the breakfast buffet is over $30.
