Just back from another great stay at the Newcastle Inn. As always, the inn was warm, welcoming and comfortable, and the breakfasts on both days were fabulous. Liz and Carolyn are incredibly gracious hosts who always make us feel welcome and valued. We've stayed at the Newcastle many times over the years, through three different sets of owners, and we have never been disappointed. Liz and Carolyn have maintained and, if anything, improved the high standard of their predecessors. Highly recommended! We'll be back next year.

My father, sister, and I stayed four nights at the Newcastle Inn while gathering with other family members and friends in the region. We had the opportunity, due to guest turnover, to experience a variety of rooms and especially enjoyed the Heron Hill room at the "top of the house". Julie was such a great host, helping out with anything we needed, and the breakfasts are beyond excellent. The variations on baked fruits (pears, apples, etc.) during our stay were particularly good (thanks for sharing the recipe!) and Sam was a wonderful server who anticipated my dad's requests and made everything "just so". We also enjoyed the view of the Damariscotta River from the deck and the easy walk from Newcastle to Damariscotta for shopping, dining, and sightseeing.

Dear Roving_Nematolgist, Thank you for review of your stay at Newcastle Inn. We enjoyed having you with us as our guests while you were in the area for a family gathering and are happy to hear that you enjoyed your breakfast! Baking fruit always seems to bring out the best that it has to offer. Sam is a wonderful employee and works hard to meet and anticipate what our guests want. I will be sure to share your kind words with her. Thank you again for taking time to share your thoughts. Sincerely, Julie Bolthuis, Owner

Newcastle Inn didn't disappoint! We arrived to be greeted warmly by Julie, and we were given a tour to include a perfect little tavern, a stocked kitchenette with ice and other amenities. Our room was so clean and tidy, with crisp sheets and a beautiful bathroom. After dinner at Public House, we settled in by the fireplace and enjoyed the relaxation. Breakfast both mornings was sumptuous, coffee piping hot. Location near the twin villages was perfect for strolling and enjoying the mild winter day.

My husband and I took a long weekend up to Damariscotta to explore and just get away. The Inn was very clean and welcoming, a short walk to town (you can leave your car in the parking lot for the duration of your stay!) and to restaurants and shopping. Most stores were open and asked that you wear a mask, no big deal.
It was nice to be waited on with a delicious breakfast from a knowledgable host.
The highlight of the weekend was a river tour down the river to hear about the oyster farms along the river. You could sample oysters on board with a glass of wine or beer. Even saw some seals. It was beautiful weather to be out on the water. Both the Inn and the boat tour are taking the proper Covid 19 precautions and it felt very safe to be out and about.

We decided to go to the holiday Gardens Aglow at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and stay overnight in the area. We chose Newcastle Inn as it's walkable to downtown Damariscotta, which we always enjoy. And we're so glad we chose this special place. Liz and Carolyn are so welcoming and warm, and the Inn is cozy and lovely. Rooms are furnished lovingly and with high quality linens to boot - there is a lovely guest kitchenette for round-the-clock tea/coffee/soft drinks/ice, etc. Liz and Carolyn are so accommodating and helpful. I wish we'd have stayed longer than a single night. After a delicious breakfast we had fun making our way back to Portland, stopping in Wiscasset, Bath, Brunswick. Great getaway!

We got married in Damariscotta and stayed at the Newcastle Inn for our wedding weekend. This charming little(ish) B&B is lovely. We stayed in the Owl Room, which was cozy, with its own temperature settings and stove (though, in August, it was not turned on yet).
The best part of staying here is the breakfast--the back deck overlooks the gorgeous gardens and water, and the food is spectacular. I'm an extremely picky eater and loved everything. It's a gorgeous place to relax with a cup of coffee and enjoy the view.
Also, the owner is delightful and makes you feel immediately welcome. Highly recommended.

Dear Paradise522790, Congratulations once again! Thank you for choosing Newcastle Inn for your lodging while celebrating your big day! The Owl's Head Room is a favorite of many guests. You need to come back during the colder months so that you are able to enjoy the gas stove. Happy to hear that you enjoyed the breakfast and were able to sit outside on the deck. As you experienced, it is THE best place to enjoy breakfast and start your day. Thank you again for being our guests and for sharing your thoughts about your time at Newcastle Inn. Location is on the Damariscotta River with views of working lobster boats and walking distance to downtown Damariscotta with excellent pubs and restaurants. We stayed in a mini-suite with sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. All 3 rooms were spotless and beautiful. The inn has plenty of social distancing space for small group conversation. Breakfast was very good and hardy. The innkeeper, Julie, is charming and delightful. We will be back.

Dear jseagren, Thank you for being our guests while you were visiting the area. The Pemaquid Point Suite is such a great room and a favorite of many guests. We were in town for the night before my husband's surgery and found this gem of a BandB online. What a great find.

We were greeted by Julie, a lovely host who was gracious and accommodating . The main house is spacious and inviting, decorated in warm yellows and a charming atmosphere . The seating arrangements arranged in cozy vignettes throughout the several common spaces on the main floor were so comfy and inviting. . Lots of space on the main floor to sit and gather , read, or relax with lovely views of the river and outdoor decks.

Our room was totally immaculate .... like uber clean, as is the entire property. It is well appointed with lovely gifts like a tote and reusable water bottles. The bed was super comfy . I wish the TV was a littler larger for the size of the room.(.. hard to see from the bed,) but this might no be as important to all guests.

I couldn't do the breakfast as i had to leave very early, but Julie was kind enough to leave me a breakfast to go. I will visit again for sure... probably during the season when the suite in the second building is available and we have more time to spend at this exceptional inn.

Dear Nina C, Thank you for your review and kind words regarding your recent stay at Newcastle Inn. Yes, the TVs are small in our guest rooms since we want our guests enjoying the beautiful views outside their windows! I hope that your husband is recovering well following his surgery and that you are able to be our guests at another time and will be able to enjoy our breakfast, perhaps in the summer when it is served outside on the deck! Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts. Regards, Julie Bolthuis, Owner

My wife and I stayed for a weekend and were just so impressed at how immaculate the inn is. Given the "covid" restrictions and climate, we were very at ease with our surroundings because of the cleanliness. Everything was spotless, the baseboards, floors windows, surfaces. Our "suite" was roomy and very comfortable. The bathroom had that perfect low level "bleached" scent. Breakfast was excellent and Julie our host was friendly and warm. To be 100% helpful - There is a busier road nearby, so some early Monday morning street noise was unexpected.

We stayed for 2 nights in the room with the private entrance and balcony with views of the river. Both days were rainy so didn't use the balcony as much as we'd hoped. The closet had the most cozy bathrobes! All staff is very friendly and the breakfasts always started with a fruit course which I enjoyed. Location is great - not touristy like Boothbay Harbor but close enough that it's a quick trip down there or to many other locations. Also, many good restaurants just minutes away.
