The Island Inn is in the perfect location for a Monhegan stay. The staff could not be more accommodating. We stayed here in July 2013, during a heat wave. In postage stamp, I mean Room 12, the window has about 1/4 screen. And when the lights were on, tiny black bugs would swarm in and land on everything. The room...

Stayed once again at the Island Inn . The rooms are slightly better maintained, comforters and linens better than previous years. The place is cleaner. It is simple and comfortable on a beautiful quiet island. Public spaces to hang around are simple and nice. Staff is eager and helpful. Breakfast is included and, sadly gone down hill. What happened to...

The rooms are small and sparse. The bathrooms are spartan. The floors and doors are thin. There is no pool, no gym, no service to speak of, luggage is loaded summarily into a pickup truck, and the prices are as high as the Four Seasons in Boston. So why do I love the place? Oh my god, that view and...

This inn is very special. The views are amazing. We found it to be very clean and quiet. We enjoyed delicious meals at the inn. We had a king corner room. It was quite small and very warm. I do wish they had real screens so we could at least open the windows high.

Our first choice place to stay on Monhegan and now that the bedrooms and bathrooms have been upgraded it is much less of a Spartan experience than it was many years ago. Rooms are still mostly small and modest, but very clean and well cared for. Choose between the front rooms facing the water (more expensive, of course), a "meadow...

The room was a bit undersize, but very clean. The only "drawback" was I hit my head on the angled wall (we were on the third floor). Place is very busy during the peak season. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The restaurant breakfast was awesome and the other meals we shared at the Island Inn was outstanding. The...

I have visited this old Inn a number of times over the years and have always enjoyed my stay. The staff are unfailingly helpful and pleasant, and the mgr. seems to be there almost all the time to ensure that everything is going smoothly. The rooms are modest but very clean. I have sometimes stayed in a room that has...

This was probably the 6th or 7th trip to Monhegan and the Island Inn. The staff is returns year after year and are always welcoming and friendly. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, although some are small. If you are looking for a resort atmosphere, don't even think about going to Monhegan! The island is simple, small, rustic, and...

This was my first time staying over on Monhegan. A friend had chosen the Inn and we were not disappointed. The room we rented was twin meadows. No air conditioner but with the window open it was cool and comfortable during our stay. The staff all throughout the inn were all wonderful, helpful, knowledgeable about everything going on, what to...

This Inn (and Island) is like going back to a simpler place in time. In this fast paced world we live in, staying at the Island Inn is heaven on earth. Don't expect late nights and party time. This place is for wonderful forest walks, sitting on rocky cliffs, bird and seal watching, meeting great people and just getting back...
