Monhegan Island is an idyllic community located 10 miles off the Maine coast - well known to artists and birding enthusiasts. Idyllic, if one prefers solitude and nature to over-commercialized beachfront resorts. So this is not for everyone, and certainly not for most young families. The Island Inn is an iconic fixture just up the hill from the dock where...

An escape off the coast of Maine. This is the perfect place at the perfect spot!!! Quiet, peaceful and beautiful - the only words to describe the Island Inn and Monhegan Island. Fabulous trails for hiking to see the magnificent coastline and majestic interiors of the island. The Inn is perched on a hill overlooking the harbor and offering perfect...

We recently spent three nights at the Island Inn. Clean, well managed. Rooms are small but very comfortable and quiet. Staff is welcoming and very helpful. The front porch and lawn with their comfortable chairs has a wonderful view and is a great place to relax and read a good book. Best of all is the restaurant. The service is...

Beautiful Inn with outstanding views...peaceful and clean, no TV's or radios, time to slow down and relax! Restaurant was outstanding! Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Life the way it used to be!

My wife and I spent a Thursday night at the Island Inn. The place was spic and span clean, the staff overall was welcoming, and the food at the Inn restaurant was some of the best I've had in Maine. Not unexpectedly in a rustic 100+ year old inn, the room was very small, but quiet (we were on the...

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Island Inn while staying on Monhegan for the weekend. Mussels to die for, scallops cooked perfectly, scrumptious desserts--and as no alcohol is served, we brought along a favorite bottle of wine to enjoy with the meal. Strongly recommend this restaurant if you are lucky enough to spend time on beautiful Monhegan.

We have come here for many years - always stay at the Island Inn. We see some of the same friendly, patient and gracious staff each time. The Inn is very old and therefore not soundproof. We are early risers so early sounds do not bother us. This time we had Room 14 at the top of the stairs so...

While visiting Monhegan Island for the day we stopped at the inn for lunch. The service was prompt and friendly and the restaurant was lovely with an amazing view. We enjoyed a salad and lobster chowder both of which were fresh and delicious. The prices are high, as we expected out on the island, but the food was very good.

Overlooking the harbor, this inn has marvelous views, cheerful and helpful staff, a wonderful front porch with rockers, and an ideal location. It was our first visit to the island and a wonderful introduction. Their breakfasts are comprehensive and the dining room very comfortable.

Arrived on the ferry from Boothbay and the hotel had folks on the dock to bring your bags up. We walked up the hill, all of a hundred yards and checked in. They very graciously allowed us an early check in and free run of the entire property. Our room was on the first floor and had a magnificent view...
