Just visited Monhegan Island for the first time. We loved it, and would definitely go back but not to the Monhegan House. For starters, because it was probably initially constructed as a rooming house, the walls are incredibly thin, so thin that when I woke up in the middle of the night I could hear the person in the next... The Monhegan House is my favorite place to stay when I visit the island. Id recommend everyone to stay here. People really do stay quite after 9pm and are fairly quite in the morning as well. The fridges are convenient and have ice. Just make sure you label your items. They have very reasonable rates as well as The Novelty... More

Visited the Monhegan House this summer and was pleasantly surprised by the suite we had. We didn't spend much time inside as the weather was beautiful, but the sitting room, bedroom, bathroom, and deck were great. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. Different specials each day, and the food was very good. There is a small take out place behind the... More

I can't say enough about the comfort, cleanliness, hospitality of this lodging. And the food at breakfast was done with care. Service oriented with an aim to please in laid back fashion, Hike, take in local flavor by just sitting on the porch with a bottle of wine you bring from home or purchase at local store

I am a hotel owner in NH and was in need of some R&R for myself after a very busy summer of innkeeping. I decided to take a short trip to Monhegan Island, where I had never been before, but had heard much about. It was EXACTLY what I needed ... like stepping back in time to a gentler, more... More

Visited Monhegan House this summer after reading reviews and was surprised to find a room with a tired mattress and thin towels. The only amenity in the room was a box of Kleenex. The room was partially cleaned once during the entire stay. The waste basket was never emptied at all. All bathroom facilities are shared. Staff was indifferent at... More

Monhegan Island is a great place to chill out for a few days away from the hustle and bustle of normal society, and the Monhegan House is a friendly place to say. While the bathroom facilities are not in-room, the general facilities are well maintained, and the hotel is spotless and well-organized. You do need to walk from the ferry... More

We stayed at the Monhegan House for 2 nights in July. We had a double bed room without a bath. The room was sparse and small but we knew that before and felt it was the authentic experience. The bath down the hall was immaculate, convenient and completely private. No problem there at all. We enjoyed meeting other travelers and... More

Spent one night in a ground floor suite with own bath and shared deck. Beautiful water views with breezes blowing through the open windows with lace curtains. Laid back place with no door keys. No TVs to distract from the ambiance. Guests congregate in the common areas reading books or playing board games. Some rooms on second and third floor... More

Somewhat unique on a small island, Monhegan House could be a good place for couples or families to stay but it is also a good place for singles. It has eight single rooms built in the dormers on the top floor. It has many larger rooms on the floors below, too. These rooms are so small that they have only... More
