We were very disappointed in the accommodations. I felt like I was back in Camp Misty Mount, (Girl Scout camp from childhood). That would have been okay except for double occupancy, it was $150.00. I thought this was very expensive for the quality of the accomodations. It did include breakfast. I choose this place because there were some good reviews...

When being shown to our room, we passed through a bathroom. When I expressed relief that I was glad to see a separate staircase bordering our room, the worker stated in no uncertain terms that we couldn't use that staircase as a means of egress and that hopefully the bathroom use wouldn't be an issue. This didn't set well with...

I've gone to Monhegan Island several times previous to this trip and always walked by the Trailing Yew wondering what it was like. A compound of different buildings with a communal dining option, it seemed intriguingly unlike any other B&B or hotel I'd ever stayed in. I usually rent a cottage and stay on the island for a week, but...

I stayed here for a solo getaway during this year's Memorial Day weekend. The weather was glorious, making for an even more enjoyable stay. I luckily got a room with electricity in the Annex building. From the first day, they made me feel at home and taken care of. The first night a party left their barking dog alone for...

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Trailing Yew in the Cabin Room. The room is its own separate little building consisting of a double bed, a twin bed its own bathroom and electricity. Electricity is mentioned because not all rooms on Monhegan have electricity, so make sure you know before you go. The cabin was very rustic...

The Trailing Yew offers options for accommodations in about 5 different buildings thats hare a common lawn and views of the water. My daughter and I took a room a boarding house built about 100 years ago with no electric in the bedroom but electric in bathroom and hallways. Gas lamps were our lights. Don't worry though the bathroom and...

@mardan judy - BUT, if you'd like a place with real charm, a deep sense of history, and wonderful community connections, this is the place. I feel a little but like I'm at Gramma's house - and I love it that way. I don't need fully-fluffed dryer-spun towels at the foot of my bed - I'd prefer wonderful-smelling line-dried, and,...

One of the most beautiful places I have seen in the Northeast. The place is just amazing. Very rustic and simple with pretty much no technology. It is like taking a step back in time. The owners is just the sweetest and the home cooked meals are to die for. Really friendly atmosphere and a great place to get away.

My wife, three teenage children, and I just spent three days at the most enchanting place in all of island New England, staying at the Trailing Yew in their house called the Mooring Chain, which was lit only with oil lanterns, and cooled only by ocean breezes. That the weather was perfect added to the experience. First, let's discuss the...

I have been coming to Monhegan Island and staying at the Trailing Yew every year for the past 17 years....that pretty much says it all. I recommend Monhegan and the Trailing Yew to anyone who wants a peaceful, relaxing and rustic time. Great food too.
