Beyond every expectation we had prior to arriving at this slice of heaven. Exquisite and sparkling clean. Debbie and Rick are the types of hosts that people dream of having; extremely knowledgable of the surrounding area and super-accommodating at every level, while still giving their guests complete privacy.

What’s beautiful is the way that they love life and take pride (in the most humble way) of the dream they have built and share with others.

Debbie prepares delicious breakfast sandwiches and a sweet treat for those who are off to an early start and unable to make the 7 AM breakfast start.

The beachfront is the perfect space to breathe deeply and be still for a bit. Kayaks are available on site. We were fortunate enough to take a 5 pm boat ride to watch the eagles while exploring the lake and an evening fire was offered for those who wished to join.

Our room was just gorgeous and my husband (who rarely sits still) made good use of the rockers in our room as he overlooked the lake and Mt. Katahdin for a few hours. It did our hearts and minds good to get away.

If you’re looking to hike the peaks of Maine, searching for some much-needed R&R or snowmobile freshly-groomed trails (Rick is the President of Jo Mary Riders Snowmobile Club) then look no further!

This gem fit the bill in EVERY. SINGLE. WAY! This was our first trip and we can’t wait to return!

What a beautiful lodge! The owners and gracious hosts, Debbie and Rick, made us feel at home. Amid the cautious openings of inns/lodges/hotels/motels in Maine, every precaution was taken to keep the guests safe, but welcome. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable, with a great view of the lake and Mt. Katahdin. The lodge offers free use of their kayaks and canoes, plus a bonus late afternoon ride in their pontoon to observe the eagles that nest on the islands in the lake. The breakfast was delicious and satisfying. I would definitely return when a chance arises!

We spent the previous week on the coast visiting Acadia before heading up north for the last part of our trip, seeking peace, quiet, and hiking opportunities. We were amazed at the setting. Such a beautiful spot right on the purest lake with the most amazing view of Katahdin. Hiking aplenty in nearby Baxter State Park. But the most special qualities of this accommodation center around the the gracious owners, the lovely comfortable rooms in this lodge built by the owner, the made from scratch delicious breakfasts and all the guidance and tips on activities available in the area. They were amazing. They even took us on a boat trip around the lakes to view the eagle families in the area and share in an almost surreal experience of seeing these birds of prey in action. We would love to come back.

Gorgeous facility within an easy drive of Baxter State Park...or just stay here and enjoy the view. New owners are going out of their way to ensure your stay is unforgettable. Canoes and kayaks are available or bring your own boat and use the public boat ramp. Delicious home-made breakfast every morning.

We spent two delightful days and nights at 5 Lakes Lodge in Millinocket, Maine, on the shore of South Twin Lake and in view of Mt. Katahdin nearby in Baxter State Park. The rooms featured large windows overlooking the lake and Mountain with wonderfully comfortable beds, quality linens and very comfy rocking chairs ideal for rest, reading or Mountain and Lake watching. As early risers, our host Brian graciously accommodated our"need" for early 6 am coffee. Each day started with a sumptuous breakfast in the large and delightful kitchen with all offerings homemade by Innkeepers, Rachel and Missy. The breakfast area lent itself to conversation with our hosts and fellow guests. It left ample time for discussion of local history as well as moose sightings, sadly of which there were none! We hope to be in the area again for second stay and can't recommend this beautiful spot more highly.

Our room was spacious and cozy with direct view of South Twin Lake graced by Mount Katahdin in the background. The furnishings, towels and sheets are all high quality, and the room had a lot of well thought out details. New owners Melissa and Matt were attentive and helpful with off season exploration suggestions as well as restaurants and scenic drives. A full breakfast was made to order with plenty of conversation and cheer. We eagerly plan to return in 2023!

We used this as base to hike at Baxter State Park, Gulf Hagas and Katahdin Woods and Waters. The location great because it is convenient to everywhere. The rooms are gorgeous with great views of the lake.

The fresh-cooked breakfasts are incredible. Also the Deb was very accommodating and set us up with breakfast sandwiches for the day we left before breakfast started.

Rick and Deb were amazing hosts and I'm glad we chose to stay at their facility.

Our recent stay at the 5 Lakes Lodge was truly a vacation made of dreams. The new hosts—Rachel, Missy, and Brian—have created an atmosphere of tranquility, peace, beauty, and fun both inside and outside the lodge. The interior is absolutely gorgeous—the magnificent beds were incredibly comfortable, and the rockers made you think you were floating on a cloud! The outside is stunning—not just the oh-my-gosh view, but the landscaping and decorations were done with such care and creativity to perfectly meld the feeling of serenity everywhere you looked. Everything about our stay was incredible—from the kindness, courtesy, and thoughtfulness of the hosts to the indescribably delicious breakfasts. There aren’t enough stars in the sky to rate the consideration from Rachel, Missy, and Brian for our every comfort and their willingness to make our stay as special as possible—even to the point of birthday balloons and a candle on my muffin! Their knowledge of the locale was invaluable for hiking, dining, and wildlife viewing and they were always willing to give us fantastic suggestions about activities in the area. We cannot wait for our next visit to this blissful sanctuary, and we thank them for all they did to give us the best vacation ever!

Bed was very comfy, lodge is stunning, breakfast was delicious and kinda fancy, and the new owners are wonderful and so eager to make our stay perfect. Our room had a small frig so we made our own sack lunches for hikes. Rachel, Brian, Missy and Matt are terrific hosts and are so attentive to all the details for their guests. All of them are locals who know the area well. The lake is lovely and great for swimming and paddling in the lodge’s kayaks and canoes. Fantastic view of Mt Katahdin. We watched loons, other ducks, and even an otter fishing just off the beach! In a word, idyllic.

The lodge is a half hour farther than the closest lodging for Baxter Park but we will stay here again even if we have to get up 1/2 hour earlier to start our hike!

Nine years ago, my wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the 5 Lakes Lodge. Rick and Debbie were gracious hosts, and the accommodations were of the highest quality. Who wouldn’t enjoy waking up to a view of the peaceful lake with Katahdin standing with quiet majesty in the background?

So, when we decided to return to the area this year to climb Katahdin, we knew that we would be staying at Five Lakes. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by three of the new owners: Rachel, Missy, and Brian. As Millinocket natives, they recently purchased the lodge to keep it in local hands. It is safe to say that 5 Lakes could not be in better hands! The accommodations were just as cozy and inviting as we remembered. With the culinary talents of Missy and Rachel, no guest will leave the breakfast table hungry.

As hikers who were heading out at 4:30 am to tackle Katahdin, we especially appreciated the breakfast sandwiches and coffee cake that were prepared and waiting for us. So much better than the standard protein bars that we planned to eat while waiting for Baxter State Park to open. After a 13 1/2 hour hike/climb (yes…you read that correctly), we returned to the lodge to find Brian waiting to greet and congratulate us. It is all of these little touches that make 5 Lakes Lodge truly stand out.

We are already looking forward to returning to 5 Lakes!

P.S. The blueberry bundt cake, baked granola, and breakfast quiche alone are worth a visit!

Hi, We are 7 miles from the Town of Millinocket. In the area there are at least a dozen places to have dinner and on the way to/from Baxter State Park there are three more dining places. Believe us, food is not an issue around here. The quality is high and the price is low!
