We celebrated an anniversary here over the weekend enjoying the fall foliage and hiking in the park. The inn is conveniently located, with a lot of cluttered character. The downside was that at the end of the season, they do not replenish their stock of gluten free options for breakfast. Dinner in the restaurant and bar were tasty.
The charm and historic beauty of the Big Moose Inn was perfect in late September to celebrate our anniversary. The chefs creations are excellent. The staff is welcoming warm friendly and extremely accommodating. We accessed Baxter each day of our vacation and returning each night to the inn was very nice.
We made a reservation for September 9 to celebrate our 54th wedding anniversary. On our trip north our car broke down and had to be towed to a small local garage for repairs making it impossible to get to Big Moose on the 9th. I called mid day to advise Big Moose of our situation and was told Sorry! I called the next day to speak with the owner(Lori) to no avail. Ralph
I officiated a Wedding on 09/07/2019 at Big Moose Inn. My husband and I booked a Sleep Cabin # 10 and this was our first visit to the Inn. I must say we loved our little cabin and it had everything we needed for a great stay. The food was wonderful at the Inn for the wedding guests. The owner I met and the staff were very nice and friendly. We will stop in again on our next trip to Baxter State Park. I would highly recommend for anyone traveling to Millinocket, Maine to stay here.
The rooms were nice, clean and tidy. We stayed in a suite last minute and it was such a relief to have some creature comforts after a day of rafting and another day of hiking ahead of us. We also were made aware of the lean-tos which would have been perfect if we planned a little better. The restaurant was excellent, live music was a plus and everyone was very friendly. We will absolutely put this place at the top of our list for next time.
