I was looking for somewhere to stay close to Cobscook Bay State Park because I had friends camping there for the week. The Inn is about 1/2 hour drive to the park. The room was perfect! It was very clean and well appointed. The refrigerator had bagged ice in the freezer a pleasant surprise. The thank you card was a very nice touch. The inn is set back off the road so you don’t hear road traffic. Rooms have been updated and are comfortable. Thank you for a pleasant stay. Michelle East Longmeadow MA.

We enjoy travel and stay in hotels/motels 5-6 months a year. We usually stay in Marriott’s because we’re platinum elite and have a pretty good idea of what to expect based on the genre. The Margarita Inn put all the positives into one motel.
Our room was small but tastefully decorated and had everything we needed and desired.
The online reservations were simple and seamless.
We were texted the day of arrival with our door lock code and asking if there was anything we needed.
The room was impeccably clean, bed and linens comfy.
There was a water hog carpet at the door and a boot tray adjacent, which was perfect for our hiking boots.
The mini fridge had a small freezer, perfect for our travel freezer packs. Coffeemaker was a Keurig. The windows opened and the blackout curtains were effective.
The bathroom floor was heated, the shower flow and temperature were excellent and there was no leaking on the floor that you find in too many properties.
The toilet seat/lid was a soft close.
Housekeeping came daily.
There are restaurants close by, less than a mile and we tried two of them and were pleased with the options.
We just can’t say enough about this property, it is exceptional.
Our only suggestion would be for a small bedside table and light on the far side of the bed.
There’s an abandoned small brick motel within walking distance, I hope the owners are considering it, they certainly have the expertise!

I stayed here for two weeks with a 2 day break in the middle. They kept my same room for me and at the beginning of BOTH stays, I was met with a thank you/welcome hand written note. Such a lovely touch! The room was spotless and everything was in working order. Looks like the rooms have been renovated recently because the flooring and furniture were modern and fresh. The room has a fridge and a Keurig coffee maker. You'll enjoy the HEATED bathroom floor! That felt great and is an amenity you rarely find. The rooms have punch code locks and the door is programed with a unique number for you so you can go right in when you arrive; they contact you via text to let you know your room number and your access code. I was also text a couple of times to make sure my stay was nice or to ask if I needed anything. I only have one suggestion: the heat cannot be turned up higher than 72. I keep my home at 70 and feel fine but 72 felt chilly to me here. I would have liked to turn it up a little more. Besides that one thing, I had a tremendous stay and I would come back in a heartbeat!

My husband and I just booked into the Margaretta Inn last weekend and loved it. The rooms are just as clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated as shown on their site! Brecken sent us a pre-arrival text to let us know our room number and passcode as we were arriving later in the afternoon. Much appreciated! We loved the location as it was just a short 2-minute drive back to Helen's restaurant and the Downeast Sunset Trail System that we used! The Inn Keepers couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating! We will most definitely make it a point to stay again when we're in Machias! Thanks again Brecken and Keirstin!

We visited this inn for an overnight stay in late September. Every aspect of our stay was great. First and foremost, our room was immaculate. I especially loved that there was no carpeting on the floors (I hate carpeting because it's so unsanitary). The room was very nicely appointed and very updated. Maybe a bit small but it had absolutely everything we needed. Thank you, Margaretta Inn, for making our stay so comfortable.

My husband and I stayed two nights and we enjoyed the clean and comfortable room.
We loved the heated bathroom floor and the bed was super comfortable. The shower was spacious and had great pressure and my husband even commented that he really liked the soap. The Keurig in the room was a nice touch as well as real creamer. It was nice to have a refrigerator and microwave as well. Thank you for making our anniversary weekend extra special.

We took a long drive up the New England coastline and Machias was on our list to stop by. We were pleasantly surprised by how clean and updated these rooms are, the heated bathrooms floors were a very nice surprise. The managers were great and answered all our questions as we had them. Brecken helped us when we checked in and showed us to our room and provided the SUPER convenient key code to our room (we always misplace our keys). Rylee helped us with some quick tips on where to go for the couple hours we had to spare in the area and even helped my husband fix his smartphone. We loved to hear from Brecken that they run another business, so nice to see these young people taking these big steps in their life. Their smiles, attitudes, and eagerness to help is what I will remember from our trip to Machias, Maine.

Our vehicle broke down in a remote area of Maine before the 4th of July weekend. Machias was designated as the only mechanic shop that would take us - next we had to find a place to stay, With few options available and striking out w/online booking systems - we started calling around. We lucked out when a live person at the Margaretta Inn picked up and as luck would have it was located across the street from the Mechanic shop. From the first interaction it was one of the best lodging experiences of my well traveled life. Personal attention, consideration and kindness abounded. From contactless entry to dining recommendations since we'd be w/out car, to one of the best decorated motel/inn rooms I've ever stayed in - it was exceptional. I just have to add that the next morning we woke to find a dozen donuts outside our door. Turns out, the manager of the Inn, knowing that we were without transportation ( and there is no uber or taxi here) had dropped them off. Kindness like this is just not found much anywhere... which is why I've chosen to call it out and recognize it. Lastly, they also helped us find additional lodging at their sister property the Machias River Inn while our car was fixed and went so far as to actually help move us and our luggage. Words can't express our gratitude and appreciation. Needless to say...it's not just the location but the folks behind such establishments that make all the difference in the world.

Margaretta Inn was a lucky find! The beds are comfortable, bed linens are top notch and the rooms are sparkling clean. We were visiting Lubec and looking for last minute accomodations. Choosing Margaretta Inn was perfect, a 35 minute to West Quoddy Lighthouse and the village of Lubec. Although we did not meet the owners they personalized our stay by leaving us a handwritten welcome note in our room and providing ice in the room freezer. There is even an outdoor common sitting area with a propane firepit. I cannot stress enough how clean and bright the room and bathroom were. Definitely will book again if we are back in the area.

The Margaret’s was a wonderful surprise! The rooms were well appointed and clean. We walked in to a handwritten welcome card and a card that listed weather, tides, and sunrise/set. The thoughtful little gestures are noticed on check in right through check out. The office was closed but we received detailed instructions for accessing our room and upon departure we received a text thanking us for our stay. The owners are amazing and even give you their cell if you need anything. We stayed just one night because we needed to be at the hospital but would quickly recommend the Margaretta if anyone needs a place in Machias. The AC worked amazing and the heated bathroom floor was a wonderful bonus! Thank you for such a great stay!
