Exceeded our expectations. Requests were met quickly and thoroughly. Rooms were beyond spacious and beautiful, not to forget the fabulous view. Breakfast featured local produce, very fresh and tasty. Box lunches are available and of very excellent quality. Highly recommend booking a massage, which the front desk will manage for you. A variety of lawn chairs by the ocean are perfect for lounging the day away. It was hard to leave and we plan to return next summer. BRAVO for a job well done!
Spoiler alert: it will be better than you possibly could have imagined. The website doesn’t do this amazing place justice. The inn is situated in a stunning and serene setting on West Penobscot Bay. The rooms are large and comfortable with fireplaces. The a-la-carte breakfast offers something delicious for everyone. The staff are friendly and accommodating, they did some serious juggling to help us secure another night’s stay. The infinity pool, hot tub and pool house with sauna are to die for. Upon arriving here we were welcomed with a warm hello and cookies and coffee/tea. We knew within 5 minutes that we’d want to stay longer. There are no drawbacks to this place, it was a truly wonderful experience and we’ll be back for sure.
This Inn is delightful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was fantastic. Very clean, big and comfortable. The view from the balcony was stunning. Breakfast was delicious each morning as well as the coffee. Plenty of seats to relax and take in the beautiful views! We will be back!
Having traveled the world, we are familiar with four and five star properties. Unfortunately, this is a 3-star property (with four star pricing) but could be better with some simple changes/enhancements. Let’s start with the strengths of the property beyond the gorgeous view (although it is a bit more obstructed than I would prefer, I understand not cutting down “nature” for the sake of a clearer view) and then move on to its challenges and opportunities. STRENGTHS 1.). OK, I can’t start with anything better than the views — we could look out on the bay for days (and we did). BEAUTIFUL. 2.). The staff, while generally young and inexperienced (who isn’t dealing with staff challenges in a COVID environment), were charming and generally very attentive. A shout out to Liz and Max who were very kind. 3.). Responsive maintenance staff for issues around our television which had issues with the volume. A call to the CEO of Samsung (just kidding) by Rich and the problem was solved. 3.). Tastefully (at least, in our view) decorated rooms with comfortable bedding and plenty of room. 4.). When is the last time you had a a real key to a door. I love it. Just make sure you lock your door as it it is not self-locking. As far as the hardware, that’s a different story — see below. 5.). Grounds were very well maintained and lovely to admire. The fresh tar paving was appreciated. 6.). Very nice array of breakfast options — all were very fresh and tasty. CHALLENGES 1.) The A/C unit is extraordinarily loud (enough to wake you every time) when it kicks on and off. 2.) Every time someone closed their door (including us), you had to slam it shut; again, loud enough to wake you out of a sound sleep. Softer closing door hardware is needed. 3.) I’m sure this is in their training, but please make sure that housekeeping locks the door when they are finished cleaning. Twice in four days, our room door was unlocked upon our return. 4.). The maintenance of the pool area is of real concern (I will not embarrass the property by posting pictures of all below); A.) there is some sort of white ooze in the hot tub that is very unappealing to look at. I don’t know if it melting sealant or some other substance but that can’t stay. B.) while the inside of the infinity pool is lovely, the exterior is in severe disrepair with chunks of concrete missing all around the outside. I hope this is not a safety hazard. C.) simple weeding on the pool deck should be routine. OPPORTUNITIES 1.) Put some retractable umbrellas on the pool deck — there is NO shade for major portions of the day 2.) Providing (hot or iced) coffee in the lobby and (hot) ground floor of the Hilltop is a nice touch. Provide the same in the pool house 3.) Light your parking areas — it is unsafe as is. Please take this review in the context it was meant — as an opportunity to improve on your property.…
The inn is a short drive to Camden. The rooms are spacious and serene. We had an ocean front room with a gas fireplace. The view is incredible. The gourmet breakfast was absolutely delicious. Everyone on the staff is nice and helpful. The grounds are gorgeous. Beautiful flowers. This place allowed us to chill. Dots down the street was great for sandwiches or prepared food. Would absolutely recommend staying here.
This Bed and breakfast was The nicest in which I’ve stayed! The staff were lovely and very helpful! The room was spacious as was the bathroom! Every room looks out on the water! Breakfast ordered each morning was superb! Great location to be near Camden for wonderful sailing and eating!!
I normally wouldn’t be so emphatic about how much I love a hotel but I LOVE this hotel. It’s just a few minutes outside of Camden ME, and it’s right on the water. The views are spectacular. Don’t skimp on the room. Get the ocean view with a balcony. It’s amazing!! We didn’t get a chance to jump in the pool or jacuzzi but it looked really inviting. The grounds are gorgeous, big room, really clean pillows and sheets, nice bathroom, and the property is surrounded by trees which makes this place feel more like a private mansion versus an Inn. The place is quiet and it’s the perfect place where you can unwind and relax. I will definitely be returning.
We chose to spend one night here on a recent holiday. We don’t have inns like this in Europe and was keen to try. Some other ones had v floral decor etc and all nice I’m sure but we wanted something more modern. The decor was so pretty and the bedroom for 3 of us was really big. What a view. Bed linen as good as a 5 star hotel and good towels too. The shower was to die for ! The pool was small but perfect and the hot tub was great woth a nice pool house behind. Breakfast was beautiful and so well done. We would love to come back, Trip advisor helped us find it so here’s a big thank you. Staff from moment we arrived to left, could not have done more.
Actually it would be hard to say enough good things about our stay at this beautiful Inn at Ocean’s Edge. We were in a hilltop king suite which was absolutely beautiful - spacious and restfully decorated. We loved the fireplace, views, and amazing housekeeping! The inn grounds are gorgeous- with flowering shrubs, flowers, and ferns everywhere. We had massages- which were great- and we loved the beautiful infinity pool and relaxing area around the pool. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious and so plentiful. There are many choices and it is all very good. We loved having lox!! The women in the dining room are so friendly and give great service. This is an awesome Inn and a very beautiful and relaxing place to stay- close to Camden and many points of interest.
This is easily one of the best places we have ever stayed. Epic views, incredible amenities, super comfortable beds, spacious rooms, incredible breakfast, and friendly and great service! If you’re in the area, this is absolutely the place to stay! Loved the pool, hot tub, and sauna, too! Right on the rocky beach in the bay and minutes to spots in Camden, Lincolnville, and Rockport.
