We spent 5 nights at the Nonantum in September. Our portside room had a lovely view of the water. I loved taking a walk along Ocean Avenue each morning to view the crashing waves and the beauty of the ocean. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and went to great lengths to keep everything COVID safe. We had a delightful meal in one of their outdoor cabanas on a Sunday night. I was moved to tears when I heard live music playing in the background as we walked to our table-first time hearing live music in 6 months. We also enjoyed the fire pit and S’Mores the night that we arrived. There is lots to do in the area. We walked around town, spent a day and a half exploring Portland, and hiked at the Rachel Carson Center and at the National Estaurine Center in nearby Wells (the latter was absolutely gorgeous).,The resort has lobster boat tours, but the owner wisely cancelled ours due to small craft warnings. In addition to eating at the Nonantum, we had great meals at Scales in Portland, Nunan’s Lobster in Cape Porpoise, Pearl’ s in Kennebunk, and Fox’s lobster in York on the way up. I can report that Dunne’s ice cream in York, Big Daddy’s in Wells and Rococo in Kennebunkport all have amazing ice cream.

We booked a last minute trip once Maine opened up to visitors from Massachusetts. This is a beautiful hotel. The room was very clean and all of the COVID precautions were excellent. Food was amazing. We would definitely come back.

We were looking forward to another anniversary at the Nonantum, but with COVID restrictions in place we were apprehensive. We were amazed at the attention to detail and safety measures in place to make our stay exceptional. We ate dinner outside in the gazebo. Food was excellent, staff were kind and helpful. The goal of the Nontamum is to make sure that your stay is a wonderful experience and they live up to that. If you haven't been, you are missing out. Can't wait too back.

The hotel and the grounds were absolutely beautiful and wonderfully maintained. The location is also splendid with great views of the river and harbor and nice sunsets! The staff were super accommodating and friendly and super serious about COVID for the cleaning/ sanitation and masks. Quick walk to downtown Kennebunkport too! A perfect Maine escape!

This was the 4th year my family and I have stayed at the Nonantum. We were nervous coming this year due to COVID-19, but thanks to the staff's excellent communication and diligent efforts to provide a safe environment and a fun, vacation experience, we had a great time. As always the hotel is charming and safe. This year, with the adjustments for COVID we still had an amazing time. The staff always had on masks, signage was posted and was clear and even the guests at the hotel and in town were respectful of social distancing. I would recommend they change the breakfast buffet to made to order as the lines for buffet service made it difficult to social distance.

Response from Jean Ginn Marvin, Owner at Nonantum Resort

Thanks for coming back for your 4th year, even with the challenges Covid has thrown our way. It hasn't always been easy living with the trials and obstacles of Covid, but the Staff of the Nonantum has buckled down and made sure our guests (and each other) have stayed safe! As far as the breakfast buffet is concerned, it has been a challenge all season. Our hostess asks our guests to stay seated until their table is called, but regretfully we have a lot of guests who were perhaps in a hurry and just went and got in to line. It was super frustrating to us and just not safe for our guests. We have gone to double staffing the hot side of the Marketplace (buffet where we do all the serving) and the problem seems to have solved itself. I really appreciate that you mentioned it! Looking forward to year 5~ Jean Ginn Marvin Innkeeper
