We were very excited to stay here with our dog that we had pre approved by the hotel. Our reservation was booked with the extra per night dog fee. I emailed to add days and they informed me that the two bedroom we were in was NOT dog friendly. I immediately called them (no one ever answers you just leave... More

We stayed at The Edgewater while traveling to Maine for a wedding. When we arrived we were promptly greeted at our car by a nice young man welcoming us and offering to take our bags. The room that we booked was room #49 which had a king sized bed and a balcony. The room was well appointed and really fresh... More

We stayed here for two nights. The inn is nicely decorated and the breakfast is indeed delicious. In the morning we were served by two young kinds, which gave the experience a charm to it. But there were too many disappointments for a room at this price level for us to return. We almost never saw the innkeepers so that... More

We enjoyed our stay at this charming inn and were blown away by the 16 entree choices for breakfast. Everything was delicious. Service was gracious and the setting is lovely. No wonder many guests stay for 21 days! We hope to return (even if it's only for another two-night stay!)

The breakfast is worth raving about. Caroline, owner/inn keeper, is friendly and does a great job of running the inn. The room was fresh and appeared to be recently renovated. I did not have a dog with me, noticed dogs on the property but never had a feeling that there were dogs present. The location couldn't be better. I will... More

My husband and I stayed at the Inn over the 4th of July weekend, excited to have found dog friendly lodging that was so lovely. And lovely it is. The location is beautiful and convenient, a short walk from downtown and from the beautiful St. Ann's Church. The brunch was delightful, the decor was tasteful and elegant (beautiful Deborah Randall... More

We stayed here the last weekend in June because we just wanted to get away. We wanted to bring our dog, so it was important to find a place that was dog friendly. I was worried that the rooms would not be as nice because they were dog friendly, but the rooms were great! Both our dog and we loved... More

I have passed by this area for years and never noticed The Edgewater Inn - my loss !! OUTSTANDING, FRIENDLY, COURTEOUS SERVICE - I was shocked that such a young staff would be so professional and accommodating which goes to show how much effort the owners put into teaching their workers that guests come first in the hospitality business !... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Edgewater Inn, formerly known as The Green Heron Inn one of Kennebunkport's historic Inns, is located on Ocean Avenue, in one of the town's most charming neighborhoods. It sits adjacent to an estuarine cove, near the mouth of the Kennebunk river and just around the bend from President George Bush's vacation home on Walkers Point. Overnight stays include a 3-course breakfast, prepared by Chef Jason Grant in the "on the edge" restaurant from eight to noon. The Inn was built in the early 1900's as a boarding house that provided shelter and breakfast for weary travelers. Twelve guest rooms including a cove side cottage, thirty-two seat restaurant. Its location, which combines the beautiful surrounding of the Kennebunk River and the convenience of its proximity to all major Kennebunkport attractions, contributed to its popularity from its early days. That tradition continues today. While relaxation at The Edgewater Inn is an art in itself, activities abound in the surrounding area. Guests enjoy rejuvenating walks along the rocky shore, enjoy the sun on the sandy beach, explore the numerous galleries and shops in Dock Square, watch the wildlife and the birds as they gather near the water next to the inn, or spend a sunny day on one of the nearby golf courses. ... more   less
