James Fairfield House (formerly Captain Fairfield Inn) is artful and eclectic. All 9 rooms feature a working fireplace, a bold and bright color palette, modern upholstered furnishings, original abstract paintings from a local Maine artist, and rich natural textures throughout. The house is a classic example of early Federal period architecture; its plank pine floors and original moulding add to this building’s historic interest.

The property is quite big, really nice design, the boutique was filled with high quality products. The rooms were clean and very private. Breakfast was delicious. Sweet location, short walk to town and only a few minutes by car to the ocean. Very relaxing. Friendly staff members. Thank you so much !

Property's Favorite Review
Stayed here for a fall weekend and it was great. They have done a great job of balancing the beauty and perks of the hotel with covid-19 shifts. Instead of breakfast in the main area - they drop it off at your door - and stocked us up with towels prior to us getting there. The staff at reception was incredibly nice the when we called or stopped by. Easy walk into town, and easy drive to many other towns and opportunities for hikes or beachfront walks. Similar to other Lark Hotels, the service, charm, and quality was great.

My wife and I stayed two nights as part of our 25th Wedding Anniversary. The atmosphere was quiet, relaxing, and quaint. Very friendly staff and delicious breakfast every morning . The Mansion was meticulously decorated with antique charm. The location was amazingly convenient and close to all the shops and restaurants in downtown Kennebunkport. We would simply walk each morning after breakfast to the local area . A fantastic retreat for couples looking to celebrate any occasion or each other . Awesome !!!

I've stayed in both the Jefferds house and the Fairfield house. The Fairfield house room was nicer and bathroom larger but the communal lounge rooms are better at the Fairfield house. We were on the second floor in a large spacious room with a cool fireplace with comfy chairs next to it. There is a small dining area/kitchen space with drinks, coffee machine, etc. where they bring over some breakfast items in the morning. If you're looking for a more full breakfast experience just walk over to the mansion building across the street where they have hot dishes and more options. A great location in town, easy walk (about 4 blocks) to the center where the shops/restaurants are. A great pick to stay at in Kennebunkport, no matter which building you're in!
