We have been going to The Tides for 10 years and look forward to returning next year. It is a great location on the beach and close to many great restaurants. It is a short drive into the Kennebunks or Portland.
Listed in an article as one of the top seaside resorts in New England. For the price, substandard even granted Covid restrictions but most of what they don’t do is not state mandated but “company policy”. There’s no place to hang out once dinner starts the whole downstairs is filled , and they don’t even guarantee you can eat dinner at their restaurant. The beach is the attraction and it is beautiful. Some of the staff were sympathetic but overall not nearly worth the price.
In order to stay in Maine, my husband, adult son and I had to take a Covid test within 72 hours of traveling to the State and of course it had to come back negative. That's how badly we wanted to spend the July 4th weekend at the Tides Beach Club! The TBC sent us explanatory emails detailing the health procedures they are following to make their guests feel safe prior to our arrival and followed up with a phone call on our day of arrival. There are strict rules we were to follow...but that was ok. We were out of Massachusetts and away from our stay at home orders ready to enjoy some down time at "The Goose" (as we call the beach). TBC is an exceptional Inn in every way: during normal times, the service is excellent in every respect - from the accommodations to the dining to the beach service. But the small staff now managing the opening of this Inn after the shutdown is extraordinary. Their dedication and commitment to serve the guest went above and beyond. Our room was upgraded at no additional cost to us; the chef went out of his way in the morning to make us breakfast sandwiches when the usual breakfast right now is a bagged bfast filled with fresh fruit, juice, homemade muffin left at your door at 8:30 am. Our room had an adorable Turquoise colored Keurig for our morning coffee. Lunch is now served beginning at noon with a reservation. Our lunch was brought down to the beach! Little things the staff attended to for us meant so much and never went unnoticed. There is no housekeeping at this time but we kept the room tidy, bed made daily; freshly laundered towels were delivered to us in a plastic bag at our door every day. We noticed tables, chairs, other surfaces constantly being sanitized. We were given designated beach chairs (marked with name and room number) to use for the duration; each night, the chairs are sanitized and put away til we retrieved the next morning. We just weren't sure how a hotel stay would be right now but we were so pleasantly surprised. The high quality of service, attitude and willingness by the staff to make us as comfortable as possible was so appreciated. A special Thank You to Meg, Allison and the other staff members (sorry about not knowing everyone's name). Job well done!!…
Overall very nice place but expensive for what it is. The room itself was nice but small for the price, nothing “special” Restaurant and bar is similar.. good, but very pricey for nothing outstanding. Enjoyed our stay but wouldn’t return
Fantastic Food ! beautiful beach.. old school Maine vacation. Cozy. Love the coffee nook in between the 2nd and 3rd floors. Fifteen minutes from a wonderful shopping area. Lots of space in the area for walking and riding bikes (which The Tides provides.) Fireplace, morning paper, coffee on the large front porch. Very relaxing.
