Sandy Pines Campground has won the hearts of many for its impeccable cleanliness and charming atmosphere, with guests often highlighting the spotless bathrooms and well-maintained grounds. The Park Model unit, in particular, stands out for its comprehensive amenities.
Reviewers consistently commend the friendly staff, though a rare mention of subpar service has surfaced. The variety of amenities, including water activities and glamping options, receive praise, as does the privacy and adorable decor that contribute to the campground's delightful ambiance.

As many of us are quarantined at home during this pandemic my husband and I were still craving a getaway that allowed us to physically distance ourselves but still get out of our house! Sandy Pines was perfect. We rented a glamping cottage in the Birch Grove area of the campground. Each cottage has AC, heat, a fire-pit and a picnic table. This area was peaceful and quiet as each cottage only holds two people and thus there was no one with children renting a cottage.
Given the times the pool was operating at reduced capacity and we had to rent a time slot at the pool. This was very much appreciated as this allowed us to physically distance at the pool, feel safe, and still get to jump in and cool off!
The bathrooms were VERY clean and always stocked up. They were also conveniently located near our cottage which was great. The showers had great water pressure and were also clean. Doors are clearly marked with a "vacant/occupied" locking system.
The general store is really cute and has all the basic necessities one might need. I'm not sure if it is different during non-COVID-19 times, but, I wish their kitchen offered lunch, like a few sandwich options or something. As someone staying in a cottage (versus an RV or tent) I hadn't planned on cooking all my own meals and would have loved to be able to order a sandwich at the general store.
This was my first time at Sandy Pines and I definitely plan on going back! My experience was relaxing, the campground was clean and well groomed, and it was located near great little towns like Kennebunkport and Portland which allowed us to do some activities during the day. I would highly recommend staying here for anyone who wants to get away and still wants a little pampering.

Thank you for your kind words and your detailed review! Yes, this has been a difficult year from a staffing perspective which has forced us to cut back on some options in our general store. We hope to have sandwiches back next year. We hope to see you again soon!!

I cannot day enough good things about Sandy Pines!!!
I booked a site ages ago for myself and my bf after seeing the campground on Instagram, and even though I ended up going by myself, it was still amazing!
The entire site is super clean and well maintained, staff is amazing, and my little cabin in the woods was THE PERFECT GETAWAY! Mattress, linens, and pillows were honestly all higher quality than most hotels I’ve stayed in, and for less $! Plus, the campground is so close to everything; having Goose Rocks Beach five minutes away (by car) is a definite plus. I will 10000% be booking again for next year. Thanks Sandy Pines!

It was our 1st trip to Maine! Our site was nice perhaps for next trip will ask to be a little further into the campground. Staff friendly, sites clean,& spacious and we had a wonderful time with our family. The location is perfect for us to go into Kennebunkport town as well as we LOVED Goose Rocks Beach! Take The advice of the campground and drop off your stuff at the beach and have someone bike over it is expensive to park for the day . Also make sure and get a trip to the Trolly museum. It is run by volunteers and a wonderful day trip! A wonderful week!

Our family picked this place because it looked nice and had clean bathrooms they also advertise WiFi through the whole park. Our campsite was dirty when we arrived and no one came to clean it after we said something. You would think 🤔 they’d have enough common sense to think to do that but nope 👎 not a chance. There pool area is nice if they made ppl follow the rules and stay in their own areas but nope instead you basically have to get into a fist fight with someone to keep there distance but they didn’t care. No one follows the rules so don’t bother caring about them around the camp ground do what you want when you want. This is the most I’ve ever paid to camp somewhere and by far the worse camping trip ever so bad we felt the need to leave a day early, bad experience all around except for the bathrooms lol that’s the only thing I’ll give them credit for o yea don’t bye the 6$ gram crackers from there store they will all be broken .

Stayed in the chuck wagon. It is fine, but not having your own bathroom and no turnover service and a pool that has tons of children is not worth $250 / night. Max they should be charging $150 / night. It’s fine, but way too expensive. At $250 you should have your own bathroom and there should be daily cleanings and the shared bathrooms should be pristine.
Also, a mouse was found in the wagon laying babies. Fine because this is camping but once again, if you’re paying $250/night, this should be a perfect glamping experience.

Either we lucked out and the stars aligned just right or this campground is special. We had a pull-through RV site because we were supposed to be towing our car, but electrical problems meant we had a rental car instead. The site was nearly level, which was important to us because our auto-leveling system and backup camera went toes up on us just before our trip. (This should serve as a cautionary tale for those contemplating RV motorhome life, but that's for another time.) Suffice it to say, by the time we checked in we were expecting our bad luck to continue. But the people there are so nice and accommodating, and the facilities are so well maintained that we immediately relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. There were no hassles, the clientele seemed nice and cooperative, and even the camp store was a pleasant experience. They were mindful of Covid precautions, but didn't make it a big deal. Their "glamping" sites looked pretty cool, they welcome tents, trailers, motorhomes or whatever. Their showers/restrooms are very clean with lots of hot water available, plus they have outside deep sinks where folks without kitchen facilities, holding tanks or lots of water can wash their dishes. They have a heated saltwater pool, playgrounds, so kids are happy there. Plus they are located near beaches, restaurants and other touristy sites. They are not inexpensive, but you definitely get what you pay for. The only downside is that this place is so special they will be inundated with reservations and it might be difficult to get back in. But good for them!

Loved our stay at Sandy Pines Campground. Our family of four stayed in a cabin in Salt Marsh and it was wonderful. The cabin was beautiful, the bathrooms were very clean, the pool was well maintained and the general store was well stocked and the coffee was great!! There was so much for the kids to do at several different playground areas. Every night night I felt like was living on a beautiful movie set … but it was the real deal.
We visited Maine to see beaches … we spent the first day at Goose Rocks Beach. Since parking at Goose Rocks was tricky … We took the camp recommendation and my husband did drop us off and retuned to the campground to bike down … it was a 12 minute bike ride on a flat stretch. 2nd day we went to Ild Orchard Beach about a 20 minute drive, then the third day to Wells Beach about 30 minute ride. Each dat we reserved the pool for evening hours which was great … and enjoyed campfires at night.
The staff were incredibly friendly. Stopping to answer any questions or providing help if needed.
Quiet hours were enforced which made everyone feel relaxed. Camp staff members travelled on golf carts delivering replacement towels if needed and were always attending to bathrooms.
Will definitely go back as soon as we can!

Its with a heavy heart and much disappointment that our family has to write this review. Sandy Pines was the first campground we ever stayed at and it quickly became a tradition to start and end our summer adventures camping at Sandy Pines. We have faithfully reserved the same section for both Memorial Day and Columbus Day weekends. It is standard practice that before you leave for the weekend, you book for the following year. We have done this time after time and if anyone reading this is familiar with camping it is a standard process! When we went to go rebook for Columbus Day Weekend 2021 we were told our sites had been given to other people who came in right before us. Mind you, these individuals were walking around looking at our sites (we go with a group of family and friends) at this point we told them we book these sites every year. Nonetheless, they went to the office and were allowed to book our entire street (not the one they were currently on, which would be standard practice and the ethical thing to do) they came back to our site to tell us they have them next year (so nice of them...) With much shock, we thought it was just a misunderstanding (seeing we have been doing this for 4 years). After talking with staff in person, making multiple phone calls, and sending emails the only answer we have received is reservations are open to anyone to make as of August 1 2020. We do understand NEW reservations should be made, but taking sites from current customers is unheard of and unethical. Unfortunately, Sandy Pines is going to lose many loyal and local campers with this new policy they have in place. We wish things could have worked out better, but I guess we will have to move on and find other campgrounds that have more consistent booking practices and treat loyal customers with more respect!

We have been visiting this campground with our 5th wheel RV for the past 3 years. The place is simply awesome. It's exceptionally clean. The staff are helpful and friendly. The RV sites are level, clean, comfortable. We love Kennebunkport, and all the great things to do in the area. You are within a short bike ride to the beach, and other beaches are a short drive. Great restaurants are everywhere. Can't wait to go back next year. They are also one of the few campgrounds that offer a Military discount.

My wife and I decided at the last minute to take a quick trip before the holiday weekend rush. We nabbed two night stay at one of Sandy Pines' Hideaway Huts, arriving on Wednesday and planning to leave just before everyone got in on Friday.
We had a great experience. The customer service was lovely, and the hideaway hut was clean, and cozy. Similarly, the grounds and washroom facilities were well-kept and clean.
My only complaint is that there isn't much service during the week, as the general store keeps much tighter hours, and has fewer snack options. I also feel like the campsites are just a little close together for a couples getaway however they would be awesome for a big group of friends or family looking to stay adjacent to each other.
The campgrounds are also about a mile away from the beach and very close to Kennebunkport, which has some great shopping, coffee and ice cream options..
Overall, I would absolutely stay here again.

Ok. No one answered my questions so, after staying in a family cottage, I am answering them myself for anyone with similar questions! Yes. There is a mini fridge with a small freezer area. The cottages have a combination heater/AC unit. The very nice bathhouses have individual private stalls with a toilet and sink. Some have a toilet sink and shower. At one end of the bathhouse are two nice sinks with hot and cold water where dishes can be washed. The cottages do not lock although there is a hook to latch the door from the inside. Everything was clean and very organized. There is a fair amount of poison ivy so be careful if that is a concern for you.
Hello! There is not a shuttle.
Not really , just what’s expected for a camp site
Yes! They are very clean, they limit the pool entry with a reservation required. The area is practicing safe protocols from what we experienced.
