In my 70 plus years, this is one of my worst experiences regarding hotels and lodging. Upon check-in, I ask for change for $10 bill for soda machine. Front desk had no change. In our room, No washcloths, Broken coffee maker. Other worked ok but NO regular coffee, only decaf. Bakery bag next morning, not like what our friends got in another room. Front desk opened from 8am to 6pm. Pool opened 8am to 6pm. NO streetlight in parking lot- VERY DARK. Discussed these items with Manager- but no reduction in cost offered. Brochures and Website look very nice, BUT don't be fooled. NOT WORTH THE HIGH $$$$$$
We arrived the last week in September and found out we were the only guests, staff left about 5, breakfast was not hot in a restaurant on site but a bag attached to the door in the morning and a room with mold, stains on carpets and furniture and bath curtain torn which we mentioned to the staff. After all that we were told that we were in season snd no reduction in price from $500 per night. After we left our travel agent had no success in reaching management to discuss a refund. We went to breakfast at another property that was far nicer for the same price.
Realizing this area is a very high priced area, it still jars your being when the nightly rate was 400.00 for a Motel type room that was very small , required 2 visits from the maintenance guy to fix a broken air conditioner remote, and a TV setting. Now I will say they were responsive to my call but it was frustrating to have to waste the time to call in the first place. A small bag for breakfast was left at the door in the morning. Unfortunately the warm pastry was soggy- not the best choice for this kind of breakfast. Would not recommend this motel.
Loved our stay at The Lodge on the Cove! The staff was super helpful, the room was spacious - a king bed and bunks ( accommodating 3). Perfect for a couple and family. Bit of a walk to town, but the scenery makes it enjoyable! Definitely would stay again!
For $359 a night, I would expect to at least be able to reach someone at the front desk to ask how to work the air conditioner. There are very few occupied rooms here and no staff after 8:00. We were told someone at Kennebunkport Inn would be available 24 hours a day, but they don’t answer their phones either at 10:00pm. It feels like Bates Motel here. The pool, bar, and restaurant are all closed for the season and yet we’re paying full price for a fairly dated , mediocre room, with no outlets near the bed to charge devices . If we could move, we would.
Great place. Excellent front desk interactions. Love the texting service. Room was clean and cute. My wife and I were on a quick getaway, but it would also be a great place to bring the kids. Easy walk to Dock Square. Recommend breakfast at HB Provisions and the lobster roll at The Clam Shack is the best in Maine.
The location is great and the rooms cozy. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool is smallish and heated. The pool was overrun with kids so anyone over 12yrs could not get in at all. The resort is great for families with very small kids but not teenagers. Our family of teenage boys felt out of place. There is no food or drink on offer in the evenings so you must make reservations somewhere else.
Let me start with - I am a picky picky princess...we had never been to Kennebunkport before and were not sure what to expect. After reading some of the reviews I was concerned but as everything else was booked - we just decided for go for it. We traveled with our 6 and 16 year old and when we arrive we were pleasantly surprised. The lobby was adorable - front desk so so nice! Our room was quite pretty and immaculately clean! We spent time in the game room - played some records (very cool little touch!) enjoyed being close but not too close to the very crowded downtown area. The beds were incredibly comfortable and what I loved were all the little touches - fresh delicious coffee in the lobby (and decaf!). Fresh popped popcorn to snack on, little candy treats, so many smiles from the staff! We had some very yummy snacks at The Dory (hummus plate - so good!). Finally - the GM Casey is so incredibly nice! He made sure we had an amazing stay! Thank you to all at Lodge on the Cove!!!…
I'll admit that when I booked the resort for a couples' trip, I was a little wary that it was marketed as a family resort, specifically very "kid-friendly" (I'm a teacher and with kids 24/7), but I was SO impressed with this resort! My husband and I had an "adults only" room, which was on the second floor of one of the buildings. It backed up against the woods - and away from the pool and restaurant - which made it quiet and peaceful. I was a little scared to see free earplugs in our room, but we didn't need them at all! I would totally recommend booking one of these rooms if you're hoping for a little more quiet and less kiddos running around. :) It is a bit of a walk to the downtown area, but it's a short drive and we were able to find free parking nearby. Even if you choose to walk, it's a beautiful walk to the shops and restaurants. The room itself was well-put together, cute, and clean. We had all we needed and didn't have to contact the front desk, but they were very pleasant when we spoke with them at check-in and check-out. My husband especially liked the breakfast bag that was delivered to our room that morning! We cannot wait to return to Kennebunkport and stay at The Lodge on the Cove again. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!!…
We stayed at the Lodge on the Cove for our first vacation in Kennebunkport, and I would definitely stay there again. The location is perfect for biking/walking to town(<1 mile), yet far enough away to be out of the crazy busy-ness of downtown. Beautiful property with a pool, fire pit, yard games, and bikes. Great coffee in the lobby, and delicious pastries delivered to your door each morning. My husband and I and our two teenage daughters loved it!
