I booked Hidden Pond for an anniversary gift for my husband having never been and using TA reviews. Hidden Pond is an enchanting property with lovely individual bungalows that give a very beach house neighborhood feel with lovely accommodations and appointments throughout the property. We had an excellent couples massage with April and Sunshine (who were both fantastic) in the unique Tree Room of the Spa, we had a top notch 4 course dinner at Earth complete with a great selection of mocktails, we rode the bikes at our bungalow to the beach and felt like kids again, we enjoyed yoga in the garden and used the gym for additional sweat, and relaxed by the lovely pool. What made us feel so delighted is the way we were greeted at checkin by Shellae who was a joy, and when she found out we were celebrating our 15th anniversary she made us feel even more welcome. Thank you Hidden Pond team for making our stay so very memorable!

Stellar staff make this beautiful hideaway a special destination. I was welcomed warmly by Shellee who arranged a thoughtful treat and note to be delivered to my bungalow. And the bungalow far exceeded my expectations: spacious, comfortable, attractive! Reading on my delightful screened porch listening to the rustle of the leaves was heaven. The location is great for exploring the Maine coast, and I enjoyed visiting several nearby towns. Hidden Pond is a great destination for families and couples, but the staff made this solo traveler feel just as at home.

We came here for a week long vacation before getting back to the school year with our toddler.
We booked a two story cottage, which was very roomy and well appointed. Our only issue was the stairs were really steep and with a 2 year old we were a bit worried. Next year we're going to do a single story cottage. Otherwise the cottage was great. It's always nice to have a full kitchen to store snacks or stuff for a quick breakfast in the morning. I'm a real sucker for a good outdoor shower and the cottages here don't disappoint in that regard. Overall the cottage was a great base for all our activities around Kennebunkport and was clean and well maintained.
The property is a bit hands off and relaxed in my opinion, but anyone we did interact with did a great job of making us feel welcome and taken care of. Housekeeping was friendly and left us little extras if we asked for it when we ran into them. We spent a lot of time at the pool either eating at the food truck, hanging out around the firepit or sitting by the pool and the staff here were amazing. On most of the days Alrick was there and by the time we left he knew all our orders and was able to make great recommendations for us. I hope he'll be back for our next visit!
The property is much smaller than it seems and is divided up well. The cottages are close by the family pool so it's just a quick walk over there with kids. The other things are at most a short walk away. The pool is small but well maintained and a great place to hang out at. During our time there one of the wedding barns had been converted into an arcade and was a fun place to spend a couple hours at during the afternoon.
We had food delivered from Earth many times during our time here and it was all incredible. The restaurant handled any food restrictions we had well and did a great job of packaging it well. On the food front, the pastries and coffee every morning was a great treat.
Overall we all really loved our time at Hidden Pond. It was very relaxing and we already have booked to get back again in 2023.

I have to take a moment and warn fellow travelers about my experience with this company. After making reservations for 2 nights, we attempted later to book a 3rd to take advantage of an end of season celebration they promoted via email. This is where the enchantment wore off. Since I booked through my credit card company, they were not able to just add a day. This may seem crazy to some, but to them it is SOP. Their system can only book 2 day minimum, and since I already had 2 days and need only one additional, I was told it was not possible. Their solution was for me to cancel my previous reservation, which was $30 less a night and then they could book the full 3 days easy peasy, albeit at the higher rate. So, I changed my entire plans, including flight schedules, and called back to complete the reservation. During my call "Brian", whom I had spoken with previously, became confused. On my original call I had requested to extend my reservation leaving 11/3 to 11/4. Now in a moment of clarity, he informed me that they close for the season the 3rd. I requested a manager to discuss my dismay and was transferred to Lindsy, who was very apologetic but was not a manager, one was not on duty today. My only recourse was to cancel my entire reservation, included restaurant reservations and begin another search for somewhere that would match my dates and hopefully tell me correct information on the first call before more hours of my life are wasted.

We stayed at hidden pond the first week of September with the family (2 kids and 2 adults) in their tree lodge. Its an absolutely beautiful property. We loved the rooms, bathrooms (outdoor shower too), porches (screened in), toiletries, small kitchen area with coffee/tea, and juices. It was a bit chilly in the evenings and loved having several fireplaces to cozy up next to, as well as the heating units.
We are fairly independent travelers and did not mind the lack of housekeeping. They were pretty responsive by text for anything you might need (towels, taking away trash bags from your front door etc)
The bikes were nice and we did use them around the property, although they should fix up or invest in a few more kids bikes as the chain kept on coming off the bike for our 9 year old. The ability to use the tides beach club was key to enjoying the beach, the pool was very nice, but cold even though heated, and fire pits around the property for the stores kit provided was a nice added touch.
The frittata and coffee cake on arrival were great, but at this price point I would have expected something similar each day or at least every other day. I don't think COVID could be used as an excuse as they are willing to deliver dinner from their restaurant.
Overall though this is our type of property, quiet and serene! We would definitely return one day.

First trip to Kennebunkport. Loved Hidden Pond. We were in a brand new Tree Top Lodge cottage. Incredible decor that immediately gets you in the mood to live and appreciate the natural beauty of the forest. Space and privacy. We were two couples and loved the bedrooms separated by a sitting room space. The screened in porches are just lovely for working or reading. They think of everything from cozy throws, s’mores and books by Thoreau. Small garden where you can cut your own flowers for your room! Bathrooms were brand new and adored the outside shower with the trees as your canopy. Excellent toiletries. The restaurant Earth was also superb with a variety of seating options. Our massages were also top notch. Having access to Tides Beach Club gave us the best of both worlds as we loved to sit in the cheery yellow chairs watching the ocean. Downside: May have been due to Covid but there was no housekeeping or room service. You have to go off property for breakfast and lunch. No bar area to grab a drink to go. You had to empty your own wastebasket and towels and they would drop off water. First day they did not supply the coffee cake and then we asked for it and got it the last day. It was delicious and we made coffee in the room. However a bit inconvenient with no room service or other food choices for breakfast or lunch without a formal kitchen. Better safe than sorry so small price to pay during these times. Would have also liked more information in advance of our stay regarding activities on and off property. Restaurants we loved off property - Nunans Lobster, Hurricane, Rocooco Ice Cream, Mornings in Paris and Port Lobster. Shopping: Check out Local Color for unique gifts and clothing for all! Snug Harbor Nursery is magical. Activities: We did a private morning sail on the Pinneaple Ketch. Also loved the Forest Bathing walk at Hidden Pond with Jeanne Christie!!! Surfing on Gooch. All fishing charters were booked so plan ahead if you are a fisherwoman or fisherman.

Thank you for your high remarks on Earth as well as our sister property the Tides Beach Club. Overall our stay was great! Earth was fantastic for dinner, but breakfast needs help. The Bungalows for two need some updating. For the price point you would expect a little nicer furniture, everything was very worn. We enjoyed Yoga every morning and the staff was very accommodating. The adult pool chairs can also use a refresh and the pool was a little dirty.

I stayed here with a few friends so that we could have a woodsy getaway, while still having access to Kennebunkport. It completely re-set me to be in such beautiful and quiet setting away from the city.
I really liked staying in a the bungalow which gave us a much more private experience outside of a traditional hotel. What I liked most were the little screened porches connected to the rooms. The porches are perfectly private for some "me" time, reading a book and listening to the trees. Being in the city for a while made me forget how valuable pure silence really is; just the rustling of the trees. The outdoor shower connected right to the bathroom was definitely something I underestimated, and I ended up using it every day. It was super refreshing.
Riding the bikes throughout the property was very cute and fun, it made us feel like we could just stay on the property the whole time. Earth is such an amazing spot and feels super elevated. It can be hard to get a reservation, though, which can be a little frustrating. Just plan ahead and make a reservation in advance or ask the resort to help. Even if you have a cocktail by the pool you can still enjoy it.
Excited to return next summer.

This place has become one of our very favorite getaway spots in New England. It is a place where you can get a sense of the outdoors/camping with the comfort and refinement of upscale accommodations and dining. I only hesitate to call it Glamping because to me that implies a level of pretentiousness that this place really does not create. It’s also unique for Maine in that there are none of the Coastal Maine tropes in design that you simply cannot get away from everywhere else. No Portholes, No Anchors, No Lobster Traps. This place is decidedly Camp and somehow manages to harken back to a better time. The Staff here is Outstanding! Corey the GM and Robin the F&B Manager have set a standard of operation I have yet to experience anywhere outside of Boston. They anre the loveliest of people annd have been flawlessly responsive to our every need. Everyone that reports to them understands the standard and executes. At reception you will meet Bridget and Shaylee and receive two of the nicest smiles and the warmest welcome you can imagine. They even arranged a tour of several unoccupied units for us so we could better plan future stays. The general staff are represented by wonderful people such as Stanley and Dino who just love to laugh and connect with people. Dino shuttled us back and forth to town and had us jamming out in the car listening to Reggae. They love to connect and make your stay special. These folks have become family friends and our family and friends look forward to seeing them all again in October!

Hidden Pond is an amazing resort. My husband and I have stayed at Hidden Pond since they first opened. We book our trip for the following year at checkout.
This year we decided that we would not book next year’s stay. Unfortunately the price increase does not justify the stay. The past several years have been disappointing. The staff does not check on the little things that can be frustrating. This year there was no soap in the shower dispenser. Yes, I know this is minor but Hidden Pond has always been very meticulous about the little things.
The so called spa consists of two small rooms right next to each other. It is not a relaxing experience as it is not quiet. I have used their spa twice in all the years of my stay. I booked a spa appointment for a second time hoping for a more relaxing experience - no change.
My final complaint is breakfast. When Hidden Pond first opened we received breakfast every morning - one hot and one cold food item each. For example, a warm croissant and an orange plus amazing coffee. The last several years we received one item each - muffin or croissant and coffee. This last year we we lucky to get one muffin to split between the two of us. We were flabbergasted. At first we thought it was a mistake, but each breakfast had one item to split. My husband mentioned it to management and there was no comment. For the price, breakfast should be included. Perhaps this was the resort’s way of encouraging us to use their restaurant (Earth) for breakfast at an exhorbitant price. The little general store that was on premises closed so we could not walk over and buy something to add to our meager meal.
My husband and I will be at Kennebunkport in 2020, but sadly our stay will not be at Hidden Pond.

Thank you for your review, Juliewoo12. We are appreciative of your support over the years and are very sorry to hear that your last experience with us did not meet your expectations. We strive to provide all guests with a wonderful experience while visiting Kennebunkport, and it is disappointing to learn that we have let you down. I couldn’t agree more that the ‘little things’ do mean so much! Delivering exceptional service with refined attention to detail is one of our team’s top priorities, and we can understand your frustration with not having the soap dispenser refilled in addition to the discouraging morning delivery of coffee, pastry, and newspaper. Not receiving two pastries in the morning was certainly an unacceptable oversight and should have been immediately addressed with your husband when he mentioned it to our team. We are also disheartened that your experience at the Tree Spa was not the tranquil atmosphere you had hoped for. This upcoming season, we will be expanding our spa services by offering in-room massages. We can only hope that this new option will provide our guests with a more serene and relaxing experience—and one of comfort. As one of our frequent and long-established guests, your candor with your review is greatly appreciated. We do hope that you consider giving us another chance to experience an improved Hidden Pond, and I would be honored to assist you with a reservation if you would join us again for the upcoming season. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly should you reconsider. Thanks again for your honest review. Kind regards, Kristen Caouette kristen@hiddenpondmaine.com

Probably best to be in a cottage. The bungalows are on the other side of the resort with the adults only pool. The cottages are on the "family" side with the farm, lodge and kiddie pool.
I’d consider either Portland or Manchester Regional (MHT) in New Hampshire about 1.5 hours from Hidden Pond. We found better rates to MHT than Portland and MHT is a much easier airport to get in and out of than Logan (BOS) which is a similar distance away from Hidden Pond.
Hard to see how you can navigate Hidden Pond area without a car. You need a ride just to get from the check in to your cottage! (Which they will provide). I would suggest trying Uber, renting a car or taxi.
Hi 2_of_us_ontheroad,
I'm delighted to hear that you're interested in celebrating such a special occasion at Hidden Pond! The end of July is a great time to visit Maine as you will be able to enjoy everything that the resort and the state itself has to offer.
Hidden Pond is nestled within 60-wooded acres about 10 minutes outside of downtown Kennebunkport and only a half-mile from Goose Rocks Beach.
For the more actively minded, we have complimentary bicycles that you can use to ride around the property or take over to the beach and two pools that you can enjoy. While at the beach you can also rent paddle boards and kayaks! With a quick visit to the lodge, the Front Desk team will be able to provide you with directions to the best hiking trails around.
Downtown Kennebunkport has numerous shops and restaurants where you can easily spend a morning, afternoon, or entire day. In the evenings, the resort offers a complimentary "Supper Shuttle" that can take you into town.
Kennebunkport offers a nice balance of activities as well as places for relaxation. By staying at Hidden Pond you close have access to both. The resort's staff would be happy to help you plan your stay!
There are more places to choose from in the Kennebunkport area.
