I had a very relaxing and fun time in Lyford and highly recommend it. This was a great first stop on the way to Baxter which was only 2 hours further; it provided a great staging point. Kudos to Ashley and Jamie who were very friendly and accommodating. The food was fantastic and just kept coming to the table! We... More

Two nights in the Green Drake cabin were a tranquil base for our anniversary weekend. We swam, paddled, hiked and enjoyed the generous portions of good, family-style meals with other guests. On two occasions we had ponds to ourselves. We were sufficiently calmed to enjoy watching a snapping turtle search out the perfect spot to lay her eggs (in the... More

My grandfather and I and signed up for a moderate flyfishing outing through Road Scholar and had a great time. The cabins are cozy with a wood stove and sink. The staff were all very friendly and the food was dynamite good ol' home cooking.

This fly fishing instructional vacation put us in touch with nature, while eating like kings. The fishing guides were terrific, and the facility was excellent. It would have been nice to have running water in the cabins, the the cabins were clean and bug free. If you want to go off the grid and feel at one with nature, Little... More

Hiking, Fishing, and tremendous service from the staff. All we wanted and more. The cabins are rustic but very comfortable. The food was plenty - well cooked, and more than you can eat. Location is very convenient to hiking and fishing.

This was the second time my wife and I have gone to the lyford lodge and cabins. Our first trip was a 2 night lodge to lodge trip that started at the Gorman camp and ended at little lyford. That was a great trip but we never got to explore much around the camps because we were busy skiing between... More

Our group of ten has booked a winter weekend for the past two years, and we will keep the string going well into the future. We enjoy the pre-warmed cabins, home-cooked food, the capable & friendly staff, and the fact that this spot is dog-friendly. A person can cross-country ski & hike during the day and relax in the sauna... More

This was my first experience with this type of lodging. We usually do the AMC hut to hut in NH, so this was a real treat to have heat! The cabins were cozy and comfortable. The bathroom facilities were clean and nothing like a sauna at the end of a long hike. The main lodges at Little Lyford and Gorman... More

AMC's Lyford Lodge and cabins are a great getaway and have the potential to be an awesome cross country and BC skiing experience that are pretty accessible yet you also feel like you are really in the wilderness during the day yet have full amenities at night. My rating would be "excellent" if based solely upon the lodges, however, the... More

One of the Appalachian Mountain Club's recently modernized lodges in Maine's 100 Mile Wilderness, this former logging and sporting camp offers a warm welcome to hikers, cross country skiers, and snowshoers, with comfortable cabins, hearty well prepared meals served family style, and a network of over fifty miles of back country trails connecting to other AMC (and privately operated) lodges....
