Location, convenience, quiet - everything you could ask for in a camp in the Maine North Woods - Wilson's continues to please. Wilson's continues be a great place to stay and a good value. Don't change!!
Room was clean and the kitchen well stocked with essential. It could use some more maintenance. I understand it is a cabin but things should function properly. Screen porch door and cabin entrance door would not open completely. Hope they do more to maintain or it will go down hill fast. Owners seem nice but there own house exterior is a wreck and the roof has got to leak it is so bad.
We thought it was strange that the porch to the office was pretty cluttered and last winters snow rake still there. The owner was nice enough but mentioned the hot tub may not have heat but you could walk around the front to try it. The place certainly needs updating but with Covid it is understandable. The cabin was leaking water in the porch. The smell of mice was pretty strong. The cabin was not inviting although we weren’t expecting the Taj Mahal. Mice droppings. Bedding that should have gone far far away. We left without staying. Hoping we can get a refund but doubtful. Do yourself a favor go to The Birches.
My father is an experienced flyfisherman, 81 years old, and no longer comfortable with wading unfamiliar waters. I am less experienced. We have gone out west, hired guides in many places, but Scott was hands down the best, and flyfishing all the pools of three miles of the river from Scott's Dory boat was AMAZING. He knew where they were and could assist and coach both our levels, sometimes simultaneously! He has been raised fishing that river from pros since he was 12 years old, and it shows. We will be going back, and back, and back...Scott is hands down, the BEST. Now, the cabins are rustic, so don't expect the Ritz, and the bunks are more for kids, but the pandemic has left them strapped and help is hard to find so that is the only reason I gave four instead of five stars. But all was clean, just in need of some repair. The one bedroom cabin could use a door between main room and bedroom. The location is stunning though, , we were very happy with everything.…
Our Family's favorite place on Earth . The Snell Family is amazing . No better place or location out there. Fly Fishing drift Boat trips are always highlight of our year . Scott is amazing guide. Thank You Wilson's !!!well be back for life
Wilson's was a perfect place for some late summer R&R for my husband and me. We loved the screened in porch in the Spencer cabin, a great place to eat, play cards, enjoy the many moods of Moosehead Lake and surrounding mountains. We took pleasant walks around the property, seeing fresh moose tracks on the walking trail and surprising a couple partridge. The views from the dam and along the Kennebec River were especially refreshing. Our cabin was cozy, clean and comfortable, and the kitchen outfitted with all we needed to prepare the food we brought. The hosts, and their dogs, were very friendly and helpful. We're already looking forward to our next visit and catching some fly fishing lessons with Scott. Thank you for a great get-away!
We arrived for a two week vacation/honeymoon to a perfectly clean and tidy cabin. Every room was clean but the kitchen and bathroom were especially spotless. The cabins at Wilsons are rustic but have EVERYTHING that you could possibly need. They even start you off with a new roll of toilet paper, bar soap, dish soap and a few trash bags. All towels, linens, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc are ready and waiting. Every cabin has a grill for outdoor cooking and most have firepits with wood ready to light (additional wood can be bought at the office). Front porches have a table and a couple of chairs to just sit, relax and enjoy the spectacular views. The owners, Scott and Alison, go out of their way to make sure you have everything that you could possibly need. This was our best trip ever!…
It is clear that this was once a wonderful compound for family summer vacations and continues to have a cult-following. But folks really should take a hard look at the bifurcated reviews, especially from first-time guests AND the former owners. Unfortunately, the property is falling into disrepair which is such a shame considering the friendly owners and beautiful location. Many dilapidated buildings and structural issues with the cabins. We found trash in our cabin upon arriving (actually, our puppy did, which was scary) including socks, candy wrappers, and a razor in the shower. No locks on any doors and we could not turn off the heater in our cabin despite it being mid-August. We left a day early, preferring to tent-camp. Really hope some investments can be made in repairs and cleanliness.…
I was to be part of a group of fishermen using two cabins and doing a total of 4 float trips with their guides in September of 2020. Due to Covid travel restrictions and everyone's concerns for their health in close cabin quarters- we rescheduled to this coming September, 2021. When a group leader called to confirm our stay , possibly with fewer participants due to Covid variant, he was informed that we had lost all of our $2700.00 in deposits for the cabins and float trips. If we wanted to rebook we would have to pay full charges again for guiding and lodging. Scott at Wilson's denied that there were any State travel restrictions for out of staters in place in September of 2020. he flatly said our money was gone. This is beyond reason and belief! I would recommend that anyone even considering a Maine based fishing trip find a more reputable lodge and guides to work with!…
We spent 3 days in the Pocahontas cabin, the last one in the row near the dam. The lake was so close and views were fantastic. This cabin has 2 twin beds, we’ve been together for 13 years so it’s no biggie to sleep separate lol. Wonderful screened in porch to have your morning coffee or tea. The cabins have everything you need for your extended stay. Working kitchen with stove, fridge, toaster and coffee pot. Hot and cold running water and bathroom with a shower. What more could you ask for. The kitchen comes in handy because most food places close at 8 pm. These are rustic cabins so don’t be fooled if you are expecting anything fancy. Remember you’re in a remote area of Maine, there will be bugs and various wildlife. The ducks are super friendly and somehow know when it’s time to eat. We enjoyed them nonetheless. Didn’t catch any fish in the lake or river however our “neighbor” told us to try Indian Pond which isn’t far from the cabin. My boyfriend had a bunch of luck there and I had a lovely time walking along the rocks. We didn’t take advantage of any of the services at the camp, we’re more of a get out and explore couple however Scott was lovely to chat with when we checked in and there was a friendly orange cat to great us in the driveway. There’s not really any WiFi which is fine with us the whole point was to get away and have a peaceful time. Our last night there were had a bald eagle sighting. It was perched on top on the pine tree next to our cabin and flew across the river. That was an amazing sight. We will stay again the next time we’re plan on visiting that area of Maine!…
