Our cabin #2 was very comfortable- mattresses and bedding were great, propane lamps provided plenty of light, the wood stove warmed us up nicely on our one colder evening, and we loved relaxing in the sun on our deck at the end of the day. The food was very good and included a p

Hello, I have a question about electricity and refrigeration. I'll be traveling with small kids and would like to know if the cabins have separate refrigerators?
The cabins do not have refrigerators. But the croo in the main lodge, where there is electricity and kitchen facilities is most accommodating, and I am sure they would be happy to store any medications or kid snacks that need to be kept cool.

Thinking about staying there in September. (Black flies??) If we stay a few nights at the one place, are there good day hikes that we can go on each day? OR, is there a lodge-to-lodge or hut option that we should consider?
Hi there, I can't say 100% but the black flies are typically late June/early July. I don't think you should have a problem in Sept. But might make sense to call the AMC hut and ask. I just did a hut to hut x country trip with 20 women and it was incredble. We started at a parking lot, skiied into Little Lyford, then the next day skied to Gorman and then last day skiied out. In the summer, you can drive directly to Gorman which was the prettiest because its on a big lake. Lots of day hikes to do from there. We liked cabin 7 the best...at the end, beautiful views of lake. The hut transferred our luggage each day so we didn't have to carry. Call Gorman and ask them directly for suggestions. Awesome place!!!!

Hi again. We've booked a 5 night stay and can't wait to get there. How is the mobile phone reception? Any wifi available? I'm prepared for none however a few work items came up last minute and I'm trying to figure out how to handle them. Any feedback would be helpful.
We have AT&T and had zero coverage in the entire area, not just at the lodge. The wifi in the main building is not great but enough to get some basic info or check email. It was heaven!

We are staying in the cabins during February. Is the bedding adequate or should we bring sleeping bags too?
Bedding is terrific! Flannel sheets and down comforters. Don't bother bringing a sleeping bag. (If you stay at Little Lyford you'll need a sleeping bag though).

"I was in the bunkhouse which is nice but naturally spartan. Some of the cabins have more facilities than others. Just need to ask."
"Only a few cabins have bathrooms; bathrooms with showers and a wood-heated sauna in the main lodge. There are cabins along the lake shore."
"All cabins and the bunk house are equally amazing."
"If it is cold outside, put a kettle with water or snow on the wood stove to humidify the air."
"The bunkhouse is a great budget choice, but the cabins facing the lake have incredible views."
