We were in Georgetown for a wedding, and The Mooring provided an easy access room for my 95 year old mother who uses a walker. The room was beautifully appointed (as were all the rooms) complete with fresh flowers from their gardens, and the private balcony offered her a peaceful respite for reading and a gorgeous view of the ocean and wedding colonnades. But, the piece de resistance, was the INCREDIBLE breakfasts created by Renee, our Innkeeper, and her warmth and kindness to us as guests. We ate breakfast every day on the large deck porch (of course, ocean side) with socially distanced tables. I cannot say enough about this beautiful B&B, and the hospitality. And the breakfast. Did I mention the breakfast?! Wow!
We came back to The Mooring again for several days to celebrate our anniversary. We've enjoyed this B&B several times in recent years, and this visit didn't disappoint. Sadly, the owner/innkeeper Penny wasn't able to be there this year, but a friend of hers (Renee) ably filled in for her. Breakfasts were fantastic, generally prepared to your specific order. The rooms were clean and lovingly cared for, as always, but with with the understanding that no one would come into your room again until you checked out. We were extremely pleased, as always.
My daughter and her fiancé booked The Mooring for their October 2019 wedding. It was absolutely amazing. Penny was able to meet with me and my husband a year in advance since our daughter now lives in California. We did a FaceTime call while we visited the property on the weekend they would pick a year hence. It looked beautiful with the ocean views, the gazebo, and the tent area ready for the event. Going through the process, Penny worked with the bride and groom to plan the wedding and the rehearsal dinner. Fast forward to the wedding weekend. Penny's crew is extraordinary. They did everything we asked, and did with a smile and encouragement. They executed the entire plan without missing a step. They even allowed the bridal party to gather after the event to talk and laugh which was wonderful since all had come from away (as far away as Alaska!) Penny even put an additional bed into one of the rooms to accommodate an additional bridesmaid. Our groom is a mixologist, and the wonderful thing about this venue is that you bring your own bar. We had a full bar with three signature drinks devised by the groom. This option saved the couple (and other weddings) thousands of dollars depending on what you decide to serve. The drinks that our groom came up with were happily made by the bartenders hired by Penny and our guests were thrilled. We had about 100 guests with a buffet dinner that included lobster rolls. Everything was excellent and well presented. The grounds are gorgeous, the venue is wonderful., the staff is exceptional, and everyone from Maine to California, exclaimed about how beautiful it was.…
Of the 5 inns our family (requiring 3 rooms) stayed in during our week in Maine, this was by far our favorite! A beautifully restored family home with additions to enhance it as a b&b, gorgeous design and decor, fabulous view and grounds, amazing amenities, delicious breakfast, but it was the quiet, peaceful elegance of the place that made it a place one, we'd wished we'd have stayed longer, and two, we'd love to return to. Delightful Penny made us feel so welcomed, and seemed to love sharing her wonderous place. And, her collection of functional Georgetown pottery was beautiful. It is an easy drive into Bath, and to Reid State Park. Thank you, Penny, for sharing your little piece of heaven.
The Mooring is an exceptional bed and breakfast. Our room was clean, cozy, and comfortable. Each day our breakfast was hearty and delicious. We were able to watch the sunrise and sunset each day from the large deck which faces the ocean and from our room. This is such a calm and peaceful place that it makes it hard to leave. Penny is kind, generous and always helpful with suggestions of things to do and where to dine. We plan on returning in the years to come. This has been one of our go to places in Maine over the past several years. We love you Penny! Carolyn and Luis Windsor, Ct
