Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the Inn for a few days at the end of August. The Inn is set on 65 pristine acres a few miles from the center of Fryeburg. We stayed in a very nice 2nd floor suite in a separate building that included a large deck and easy access to parking. Cooked to order breakfasts were prepared daily and were absolutely delicious. There is also a new restaurant on the property set in a beautiful new building. The restaurant reviews were highly complementary. Unfortunately the restaurant was not open in the nearly part of the week so we weren’t able to experience dinner. Jon and Bruce were great hosts and went out of their way to make sure our stay was memorable. Highly recommended!!

In these COVID-19 times its difficult to find a restaurant that you feel comfortable going to, however the Old Saco Inn will ease your fears & make things feel normal again. I have been here 4x in 30 days with family and friends. They have moved the restaurant to their newly built event barn (which was built for large events e.g., wedding receptions). COVID put a halt to those plans, but fortunately for us, owners John & Bruce, opened the barn up for dining. Service is Thursday - Saturday night. Masks must be worn when entering the building or walking around. The staff all wear masks. Table size is limited to 8 guests and there is more than adequate distance between tables. There is hand sanitizer upon entering and in the restrooms and signage encouraging social distancing.
The menu is extensive with ~ 10 sandwiches & burgers, 6 salads, appetizers including flatbread pizzas, and 10+ entrees (including salmon, haddock, steak tips, filet, chicken piccata or marsala, ribs, and seafood risotto). Portions are plentiful and include carb and vegetable. Homemade bread is brought to the table at the start of service. Personal favorites include the Short Ribs (3-4 large chunks of very tender meat in a burgundy gravy served with mashed potatoes and string beans) and Jumbo Baked Shrimp in garlic butter topped with Ritz crackers. The vegetable changes depending on the day. 3 Desert options also change daily. Recent choices included cheesecake, and Italian lemon cake. Both were excellent.

Both Bruce and John were very gracious hosts. Any tips as to where to venture they were happy to give turn by turn directions and point out opportunities on the map. We stayed in the Mt. Washington room which was cozy and rustic and had a great view of the back lawn and a hummingbird feeder and garden below. Breakfast was always yummy with fresh fruit and pastries in addition to whatever you ordered. The location is set far back from the road so it was very quiet. We ended up booking an additional night since we got into town early and were happy to stay here.

Two of us stayed at The Old Saco Inn for about two and a half weeks in September, and we had a wonderful experience on all fronts. Bruce and Jon showed us warm hospitality and breakfasts were delicious. One night we also very much enjoyed dinner at their beautiful "barn bistro". We were especially impressed with the innkeepers eagerness to help us with flexibility in arranging for our needs for accomodations, as our plans for our visit in the area kept shifting a bit during the trip. As result, we had occasion to try out several of the different rooms at the Inn. Just for personal preference, we liked the Norway room in particular, with its separate entrance and cozy porch area, which was great for relaxing to view the beautiful night sky on clear weather evenings. We are most impressed with innkeepers, Jon and Bruce, with whom we found it very easy to become friends. We highly recommend the Old Saco Inn for just about anyone, for couples for sure, and their selection of accommodations can fit larger groups (families) as well. The location is quiet and the scenery very, very nice. We will definitely be back to the Old Saco Inn.

It is a charming rustic inn with lovely modern amenities like new private baths, WIFI, and TV. The campus also includes an incredible bistro which is a spacious work of handcrafted art of pegged post and beam construction. (Plenty of room for social distancing.) The food was excellent, the service great. Full bar and live music included. Your stay includes breakfast - a full hot breakfast prepared to your specifications. The owners, Jon and Bruce, are absolutely delightful hosts.

Really cannot say enough good things about The Old Saco Inn. We stayed in the Sweden suite and the room was beautiful with really unique touches and a huge bathroom with soaking tub big enough for 2. I loved how we had our own private entrance to the room off the private deck. The property has a driving range and kayaks and canoes you can take out on the Saco River. My favorite part was the dining. Dinner was great and Made to order breakfast is included; everything was delicious. The owners really made everything feel personalized to you and will definitely be going back.

+1
We spent two nights in the Saco Suite at the Old Saco Inn the first week in October. The accommodations where exceptional. John and Bruce are very attentive hosts. They provided great recommendations on things to do in the area and pointed us to good food and beautiful drives in the area. The ‘on’ property restaurant was not open during our stay, but we will plan better next time! The breakfast menu provides several delicious options for guests to choose from. We had a great stay. We definitely recommend the Old Saco Inn and will plan to visit again.

Room was very clean, spacious, with lots of extras including Alexa which we used to play great Christmas music before the New Year's Eve Party
Wedding/Event Barn was newly constructed and necessitated a leisure tour (with a glass of wine!).
Dinner was a 5-course meal of top quality.
Wait staff were extremely friendly and considerate.
The owners couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome and confident they would make sure our stay was a great one.
Breakfast the next morning in the main inn was very cozy and and great chance to socialize with the other guests. Bruce and John are great at introducing people to each other and creating great connections that make you feel right at home.
All of this in addition to the perfect norther New England setting in a peaceful valley with a great view of Mt Washington.

Stumbled upon this ‘jewel’ in a google search during this pandemic. Initially we thought it might be too expensive but being here it is worth double. The location is isolated so socially distancing is a given. The rooms/apartments are definitely unique, cozy and comfortable. The attention to details is obvious. Breakfast in the main house was perfect and service friendly and accommodating. With two teenagers in tow, satisfying their needs is challenging. The river on site with kayaks, canoes got them off their devices for more than a while...

The Old Saco Inn is much more than any B&B I've ever stayed. It's its own little compound where you'll get in touch with a beautiful part of Maine and yourself. When you turn onto the gravel road at the sign, you'll travel a quarter-mile to the inn. You'll path groomed trails, the winding Saco River, a driving range, and see a dock with kayaks and canoes. There are only six rooms in an expansive main house and three in a renovated carriage house. So you feel like the place is yours. Best of all, Bruce and Jon are very attentive hosts and really nice people. And Jon makes a mean made-to-order breakfast for you every day. It's a place like no other I've ever stayed. And one I want to come back to again and again
