Detailed Reviews
Had a wonderful stay at this quaint B&B in Fryeburg, ME. We visited the area for our annual foliage trip and had a fantastic stay. The home has a lot of history and we stayed in a charming room that was one of the original bedrooms in the house. Our room was spacious, modern and clean and we had a peaceful two nights sleep. The room had a TV, fridge and microwave as well. Breakfast was exceptional, with a large array of items to chose from. We also greatly enjoyed meeting other guests at the breakfast table each morning. It is just a 10-15 minute drive to No Conway and the Kancamangus Highway. We highly recommend a stay at this property.

My husband and I had the most wonderful 3 day stay here during our fall foliage trip to New England last week. I cannot say enough good things about the innkeeper, Donna. She is such an amazing person! She really made our stay so special and gave us so many helpful tips on what to do on our trip. Breakfasts were delicious and so much fun with the other guests. Donna was a great hostess to everyone. She is so funny and entertaining. She really puts people at ease and makes everyone feel welcome. You feel like you are staying at a friend's house while you are there. Her dogs, Daisy, and Gizmo, are so sweet. They were our surrogate dogs while we were there.
The Inn is located on a very quiet, residential street, and we slept really well while we were there. It's very close to the White Mountains but far enough away that you aren't in the thick of things. We loved coming back to our nice, quiet, cozy inn after driving and hiking all day. The rooms are all really cute and the library has an extensive collection of books of all types. You can curl up with a book in the library, have a cup of coffee in the sunroom, or a glass of wine on the deck by the firepit. Or watch a game on the TV or play a round of pool in the living room.
I'm so glad I found this lovely place and hope to go back again! Thanks again, for everything, Donna! We miss you! - Sharon and Graham :)

You guys are so sweet. Such kind words. It is easy to be a “great” hostess when your guests are as awesome as you and Graham and the rest of the group that was here. I do hope you get to come back and enjoy other seasons with me. Daisy and Gizmo and I miss you already.

This was a very pleasant experience in a unique home! Donna is a very funny person who doesn’t take herself too seriously, but takes her business very seriously. She has built a beautiful, comfortable and welcoming Inn and we would love to stay here again! We came for a wedding in Brownfield and stayed for the orange ricotta waffles! Dog friendly is an understatement, it’s more like a dog inn that’s people friendly! The house and property are very clean and well maintained. I would recommend to any couple who is passing through, or would like to stay relatively close to North Conway as it’s only a 15 minute drive to town! Thank you Donna for a wonderful stay!

Early October is a wonderful time to explore Western Maine. This looked like a classic country inn, so we picked to be a base for our explorations. What we found was disappointing, to say the least.
-in general the place is threadbare, in need of renewal. Common room furniture is worn and uncomfortable
-innkeeper is nearly invisible, there is no sense of welcome, no attempt to make guests
have an "inn experience" ...we use as our standard "The Captain" who ran the Maine Stay Inn with his wife and her sister. There was a personal touch to make you feel at home there and we have encountered that at all the good country inns we have been to since. Here, no sense of hospitality like that
-breakfast is late, even by B&B standards
-room furnishings are cluttered and the mattress our room had long ago needed to be replaced. It was truly uncomfortable
-a deep cleaning is in order as well. Dead flies on the window sills, for example.
-stairs to upper floors are VERY steep with narrow treads
-no sprinklers or fire escapes
As usual, the test is would we go back? Not a chance.

The Inn is overall very clean and cozy, and full of history. Great location with tons to do within a 10 to 15 minutes drive. Donna, the innkeeper, is incredibly kind and went out of her way to ensure that both myself and my young son were always comfortable had everything we needed during our stay. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. Donna’s dogs (Daisy and Gizmo) and the general pet friendliness is a huge plus. Can’t thank Donna enough for what she did during our stay and we will definitely be back!

A lovely time in a really lovely home hosted by a terrific friendly owner/chef. Really made us feel at home. Great setting, great breakfast. Well worth the detour for all mountain visitors. Close to Conway but still nicely far away.

After mire than 30 years of enjoying inns and B&Bs across the country and abroad I take no pleasure in writing this review. We booked a room at the Inn and got an introductory review when we arrived. The deferred maintenance screamed from the deteriorating roof and peeling paint. We were shown our room and immediately noticed dog poop on the carpet. The hostess scolded her dog, scooped up the poop and flushed it down the toilet. No apology. No promise to disinfect the carpet. I had no idea that dogs had the run of the inn. We immediately secured alternative accommodations in town. Same price but immaculate and nicely furnished two blocks away. I returned the key to Donna. She offered no apology but graciously refunded our deposit. I have never had an experience like this. The reviews and pictures do not reflect the true condition of this property.

We had to go up on a family emergency. Donna accommodated our later arrival and potential for late breakfast. She changed the King into two twins so my brother could use the room as all hotels were sold out except this one room. Donna is great to talk to. I recommend this Inn to anyone in the area

We stayed at The Admiral Peary for a get-away weekend as we were attending a concert nearby. Donna was the most gracious and attentive hostess! Our room was immaculate and lovely. This is a very dog-friendly Inn and we had our dog with us. Donna made all of us feel so welcomed and our dog did not want to leave! And the breakfast was delicious. We will be back, for sure.
