What a beautiful B&B. Immaculate and welcoming! Our room had a gas fireplace, just wonderful since it was below zero when we checked in. The three-course breakfast (pic of creme brulee grapefruit) was a real highlight of our weekend in Freeport.
Attention to detail in every way! Super clean and cozy and the hosts are the best. Easy parking and completely walkable to LL Bean and all the shops. The breakfast was something you’d expect at a 5 star restaurant, I’m not kidding. They even have craft beer in tap! Probably the best B&B I’ve ever stayed at. We will be back.
My wife and I spent 3 nights here in Sept 2022. We've stayed at many B&B/Inns across New England and beyond. Since I use Tripadvisor a lot myself when choosing places to stay, here are the pros and cons for those considering a stay: Pros: Location - very good location within walking distance to Freeport Center. We enjoyed day trips up and down the Maine coast. Overall the location was excellent. Parking was easy. Freeport is a nice town and we would highly recommend it. Room - We were on an upper floor. The room was good sized, clean, and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed the age of the inn (older) which had nice character. Innkeepers - they clearly work very hard and aim to please. Beer/wine - they have beer and wine on tap 24/7 on the main floor. We didn't partake in that, but I imagine most people would find that a plus. It is the honor system and you pay at the end for whatever you used. Cons: Breakfast - All 3 of our breakfasts were running late (they work hard, but clearly could use help) and each breakfast had the innkeeper starting with an apology about running late. Breakfast was a set menu each day and took a bit over an hour. For people who prefer to get out and do things, this could be bothersome. I'm not an overly fancy eater (especially breakfast) so some of the menu items just didn't do it for me. I don't think I could have done a 4th breakfast. The coffee was a French press which was nice the first day, but I would have loved to have coffee available before breakfast - especially during the wait. Daily Room Servicing - when we stayed, they did not enter our room to do any housekeeping or replace waters, towels, empty trash, etc. While this may be fine for a 1 night stay, we stayed 3 nights and by the last night I had to request more toilet paper and a towel change. They claim this was due to covid, but it appeared to me that this was more a staffing issue. We've stayed at plenty of inns since covid and they still managed to check the rooms and at least replace toilet paper without us having to chase someone down. I must admit that this con left a bad impression. Stairs - the rooms upstairs require climbing old, narrow stairs (it's an old house). We had no issues, but beware if you or someone you are travelling with has mobility issues. It could be a problem if you are on the upper floors. Water - at check-in our room as some bottled water in it. They didn't refresh the room during our 3 days so it was never replaced. It would be nice if water was available on the main floor somewhere (maybe near the beer/wine which is available) for those who would prefer water. Again, those staying 1 night probably wouldn't care, but by the 3rd day it was more noticeable. Overall, it was a nice stay. Good luck. …
Comfortable accommodations - Keurig machine in room. Refrigerator available next to living room. Delicious breakfasts--3 course meals. Easy walking distance to restaurants, LL Bean and other chops in downtown Freeport.
Kelleigh is a knowledgeable, accommodating, delightful host; Dave’s three-course breakfasts would rate eleven Michelin stars; and the rooms were clean, comfortable, with all amenities one would need. Brewster House will definitely be our go-to place when visiting relatives in the Portland/Harpswell area! I cannot recommend it highly enough!! Thank you, Kelleigh and Dave, for a perfect weekend!!
