It is evident the owners have poured their hearts and many hours into rehabilitating this own back to its original elegance. The architecture of the home if beautiful. They greet you as you come and go, often there to welcome you with a warm treat if you are so inclined. Michael and Liz graciously answered all of questions about the history of the home and surrounding area. A very warm and charming couple who provide an amazing breakfast as part of their top-notch hospitality. I would highly recommend this Inn to all.

My husband and I arrived at the Talbot House Inn after driving six hours in the pouring rain. As my husband and I got out of the car we saw Michael the owner of the Talbot House Inn coming out with an umbrella to greet us and help us in with our luggage. We were immediately struck by his kindness and hospitality as he showed us around the inn. The inn was beautiful, elegant, charming and very clean. We were in town to look at possibly buying property so I was hoping to have a few minutes of Michael’s time so I could ask him about the town and surrounding areas. He was very gracious with his time and in answering our questions. We stayed in room #6 which was beautifully decorated, spacious, comfortable and very clean. I was amazed at the attention to detail in our room, a basket in the bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, soaps and even a night light. A small refrigerator was in the room for cold drinks. The breakfast was delicious and featured blueberry pancakes, eggs, bacon and an assortment of breads and fruits. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate the Talbot House Inn a 20! Just outstanding in every way! Upon arriving back home I have told everyone about the warm, inviting, elegant Talbot House Inn and the generosity, kindness and hospitality of Michael. Our only regret was that we didn’t get to meet his wife Liz who was out of town at the time of our stay. We heard a lot of wonderful things about her during our stay at the inn.

Fellow Flatlanders, I know it's a long ride up to East Machias from...well, most anywhere. But if you can hold out for one more cup of Dunks worth of driving after Bar Harbor you will be richly rewarded. Why? Having lived there for thirteen years, I will share with you the top ten Reasons: 10. Jasper Beach. Google it! Secluded a remote cove, a beach of beautiful polished stone awaits 9. Roque Bluffs Beach. That's one Roque and multiple Bluffs. I could sit here in the middle of summer and study for hours and hardly see ten other people. 8. Kayaking on the lakes and bay. The seals get curious and pop up near you. 7. Near Canada. Campobello Island is amazing. FDR summer home, hiking.Go when the dahlias are blooming 6. Birds. I am not an expert. Those of you who are will know the list. We watched eagles every day. 5. Hiking. The Bold Coast trail has a short or long loop. Remote and rugged. 4. Sunrise Trail...hiking,biking, ATV and by the size of the droppings, a moose or two must wander along it. And it is right across the street from the Talbot House Inn. 3. Food. Lobsters, clams and downeast church "suppas." Don't miss those. Look in local paper for listing. 2. Moose. Okay, chances are not too good you will see them. They are shy. 1. The Talbot House Inn. This beautiful Inn has been faithfully restored. The Innkeepers, Liz and Michael have thought of everything to make a visit wonderful. The rooms are comfortable with private baths, TV, and the most comfortable beds. Pillows on the bed alone were TNTC, (to numerous to count.) Breakfast was great with fresh fruit, cooked entree and all the cereal, yogurts and breads you could want. Fresh baked cookies and snacks greeted us in the afternoon. Value for your money? Let's just say we two pensioners could not have afforded to walk through the front door if this was in Boston!

This is a great review! It was fun to read and we really appreciate the #1 spot!! I laughed at the moose comment because shortly after you left, we had 2 moose walk from the front yard through the back yard! The neighbors knew about it but we did not see them. We thank you again for taking the time to write this! Liz

I had the pleasure of staying here and thoroughly enjoyed this Inn and the Henry's that own and run it. All of the little details that matter were in place and they were very charming and accommodating. They have some very nice antiques and furnishings creating a wonderful environment. Michael is an amazing cook and created some great breakfasts. Enjoy your stay as much as we did!
