I had never staid in a yurt before, but my Mom and I were really excited to try it. The experience did not disappoint. The heating stove works wonderfully to keep the Yurt cozy and warm. The sounds of the broke are calming, and the ability to have certain comforts while being in nature are delightful. I also strongly recommend the sauna to all who visit.
If you need a getaway, then drive the up this dirt road, culminating at the cabin in which a deep pot of bottomless ginger/lemon/honey tea awaits, to start your reboot. Nurture through Nature is a genuinely a one-off: quirky and quaint with deeply thought out underlying principles. Neither a camper nor outdoors person myself, the charm and sophistication of how well the 'facilities' worked, was a welcome relief. The beds were comfortable, the setting lovely, space where the yoga classes met, upstairs in a sunny open room with windows that made it feel like a tree house, felt custom designed for decompressing. The wood-fired stove on which Jen made every delicious, mainly vegan meal, added to the charm and the coffee in the morning was good, nice and strong. It's a waste not, want for nothing experience and I hope to go back ~…
Our GS Troop of 7 Senior Girl Scouts (ages 14/15) spent 3 days and 2 nights at Nurture Through Nature to unplug, bond and explore our Maine woods. The girls stayed in the Mountain Brook Yurt, where they had to work together to cook, clean and organize the open space. During our stay, we hiked the Pleasant Mountain and tracked the wild life that lived right there with us! Owner Jen was our guide. She showed us life on the mountain and explained how it works from the oldest trees to the smallest of creatures. We also, did team building by making warrior snow people, stoking the fire for the sauna, and team sledding! The girls loved everything we did. Jen is amazingly knowledgeable about nature, composting, and living stress free. She is passionate about what she offers her clients. I highly recommend a stay at Nurture Through Nature to unplug and relax to the sounds of Mother Nature that are all around you. We will be back! GS Leaders Renee, Val, Laurie…
The Finnish-style sauna was incredible! Just a short trip up the road from the main building, you'll find this beautifully constructed sauna near a clear running stream. Best to book 2+hours for a more relaxed sauna experience.
Jen and Pleasant mountain have a way of guiding you home. I have had the honor of mentoring with Jen on a few retreats. Beautiful space to honor healing work with in! I'm excited for the opportunity to rent and share the space for a future retreat.
