The bed was okay, but everything was very old looking. The decor is bland and felt like we were at a old retreat. No phones, TV. Fan on ceiling was oscillating, loud and just strange, so we stuck a fan in the window to bring in the cool air. The site pictures show a dining room for breakfast, but that... More

We were on a biking vacation, the Down Easter Inn, was on the top of a hill, and by the time we all got there we were to tired to ride our bikes back into town, and re climb the big hill back to the the Inn. Our Hosts, Kathleen and Karen, went the extra mile and went and picked... More

No it's not fancy. No tv no wifi no phones in the room. So what. Our room was pleasant the beds were comfortable and the towels were plush. The continental breakfast was fine with gluten free pastry made right there. Most of all the staff was very accommodating and the location, right outside town, was quiet but convenient. If you... We have looked at this hotel for years and thought it would be a great place to stay. We made a reservations this year and found it to be a little run down, clean and very basic. The king bed was very comfortable. Karen had cleaned the room and bathroom nicely, but all the windows were open. There was a... More

Oh where to begin? We reserved two rooms for two nights. We saw four altogether however, since we were moved downstairs because the upstairs was very hot. The whole place is decrepit. The grounds are mostly neglected, the paint is peeling, the wallpaper in two of the rooms we saw was peeling, the screens don't fit too well so bugs... More

We were surprised at this inn. Pictures and website made it sound like a typical quaint old inn, the kind we like. The room, though large, had a motel feel and smell to it. The unusable balcony outside our room looked ready to fall down. The view was of an overgrown lawn and an empty cinderblock pool full of weeds... More

What a pleasant break from the "always on" world! I spent a long weekend at the Down Easter Inn and it was really nice to get a break from constant technology. The inn has wifi available in common areas, which is great when you need it, but it is also really nice to be able to get away from it... More

The staff were very friendly and considerate, they made us feel welcome. The inn is a bit rustic, the decor dated and old fashioned, but it is clean and functional. There was no television or AC in the room, but we were pleased to have the wheelchair accessible room which was huge and comfortable. The fresh blueberry scones made the... More

We stayed here for five nights. On the positive side: very nice staff, clean room, comfortable bed, decent continental breakfast (delicious scones), and peaceful, quiet setting. It's not modern, and that's OK too. Just know that you may be "out of touch" with the rest of the world due to no TV or phones in room, and no wifi available.... More

As a Virginian who has traveled to Maine most years for the past 16 - it was part of the marriage agreement - I've been coming here for the last 12. I love the fact that it is family run and I love the people who work here. I have always gotten a great breakfast that includes homemade pastries and... More
