We stayed at the Pentagoet at the suggestion of a friend when visiting for a reunion nearby. Having never stayed at an inn, my wife and I were confirmed major brand hotel people, we were extremely pleasantly surprised with our "inn-stay". Rooms were immaculate, well decorated, the food excellent, and the inn a joy to explore, never lacking for a... More

We were there for five nights and it became like home. Good breakfasts, great dinners. A classic building maintained in excellent shape. Jack, the owner, is fascinating to talk to. The town is classic Maine charming, with a surprisingly outstanding museum. And make sure to go for an evening kayak paddle to see the "luminescence." This is hard to describe,... More

My wife and I are Maine lovers going back many decades (our age is showing!) but we've found very few places that serve as a better base than Castine and the Pentagoet Inn to see and experience "authentic" Maine at its very best. About the Pentagoet: first-rate staff, friendly, unfailingly helpful and knowledgeable, including and especially innkeepers Jack and Julie.... More

We both thought Maine would be the least exciting part of our trip-boy, were we wrong! The Pentagoet was everything a great Bed and Breakfast should be. We got in really late one night and the hostess was there waiting for us. Our room was just beautiful with a claw-foot tub, stunning antique bed and dresser, and an atomosphere that... More

The food was very good but our room wasn't. There was way too much traffic all during the night and the bed was uncomfortable. Also, the service in the bar and restaurant wasn't the best.

Set in a quiet, beautiful and historic coastal town, the Pentagoet Inn provides a convenient home base for excursions to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and other attractions --- or stay in Castine and laze around, play tennis or golf. Either way you'll enjoy the hospitality of the innkeepers, Jack and Julie, and their excellent staff. We arrived late on... More

The building had tradition even as I summered elsehere in Castine during my childhood. Now, as I return the Pentagoet seems like a time capsule to earlier days. The essence of coastal Maine with all the creature comforts. Partake of the Inn's ambience, from the bar room to the great wrap-around porch. You can go your own way in Castine,... More
