Spent one night in a cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Owners friendly and helpful with suggestions for eating. Continental breakfast good with lots of options. Baked muffins, English muffins, sweet treats, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and fruit. Nice path to walk your dog. River the greeter was cute too!
We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite in the main building. It was great!! Beds were decent, rooms were comfortable size. Refrigerator, kuerig with coffee/tea and real creamers, granola bars. We really enjoyed our stay!
Wound up coming across this inn during a quest to find lodging for myself, significant other, and his teenage son. We all really enjoyed staying here. We stayed in Suite 2, which was located upstairs in the inn. The suite had two rooms with queen beds with a shared bathroom between them. This arrangement worked out great for our needs. We read on the website that the inn was constructed in 1780. We thought it was cool to be staying in a structure that was almost as old as the constitution itself. It was a neat experience and I kept finding myself wondering how many other people had stayed in that room over the past 241 years. The room had good energy, with neat wooden beams and a lot of personality. We were comfortable sleeping with the windows open and the ceiling fans on. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The shower had good water pressure and temperature & the towels were very soft. The towels and sheets smelled very nice, too. At night, solar flame style lanterns turned on outside - they were a nice touch as far as ambiance goes. Outside, the grounds had a park like feel. There were multiple places where one could sit and relax. As it was, we were not able to do much relaxing because we were only there for the night before heading to Boston. However, we were able to drive over to the Nubble Lighthouse, walk along the Cliff Trail, and visit Mount Agamenticus during our short stay. We would love to come back and stay longer at some point in the future since both the inn and the surrounding area were so neat. I will say that if you’re staying in Suite 2 or 3, the stairs up to the room were a bit steep. This was fine for us, and in fact, we appreciated the old stairs. I would recommend not trying to lug a large suitcase up the stairs though. Maybe put some things in a backpack to take up if your suitcase is large (mine was 😬). Will include a picture of the stairs for your reference.…
Excellent place to stay. We enjoyed our room in the historic inn. Although the building is old, our room upstairs was roomy and comfortable, well equipped with a coffee maker, mini frig, TV, chairs, etc. Staff were super friendly, welcoming and helpful. A great value. Recommended!
This is a lovely property and our cottage was super clean. It was very quiet and the owners were very nice. I loved the shower. It was a comfortable size and the water flow was gentle, but with enough volume and pressure to wash long, thick hair. My complaints are that we were there on a cold, rainy weekend and I was wishing for more substantial blankets and, since it was a cold, rainy weekend we spent a lot of time in the cottage and the only seating option were the kitchen chairs which are not made for long-time sitting! But, the stay was very pleasant and I would definitely stay again.
We booked a (very) last-minute stay in one of the suites at 2 River Road Inn & Cottages on Labor Day Weekend 2020 - there was very limited availability in the area and we didn't know what to expect but the inn and the staff exceed all expectations! The room we stayed in (suite 3) was comfortable, incredibly spacious, and very clean - we really appreciated all the thoughtful touches that the innkeepers left for their guests. It had the feel and personal touches of an inn but the modern amenities of a hotel - comfy king-sized bed, A/C, strong wifi, refrigerator, keurig machine, and tv with Netflix/Hulu etc. Due to Covid, breakfast was left each morning at our door in gift bags (fresh fruit, muffins, granola). Made for great snacks to take to the beach. Grounds were very pretty and well-kept; we didn't use the pool but loved sitting in the gazebo during the evening. The location was also perfect for us - having never been to the area, basing ourselves in between York and Ogunquit meant we were an easy 5-10 minute drive to restaurants/beaches of both towns. General store across the street was also handy for snacks/drinks. I should also note we also felt very comfortable in terms of Covid protocols - check-in was contactless and done outdoors, it was super clean, everyone wore masks, and sanitizer was available. We would absolutely stay again!…
The owners are spectacular. The rooms are amazing. Just what you would expect from a great B&B. I really enjoyed my time in Maine and the owners were sure to give my husband and I suggestions on places to visit during our stay. I will definitely go back just a little later in the fall so I can see the spectacular colors of Maine Autumn leaves.
We absolutely loved this cottage! The hubby wasn’t so sure when I booked it, but after we were inside and he saw the updated, private, cozy space he was happy too. It was like having our own cottage in the woods. The grounds were beautiful and both owners we met were very nice and helpful. They even gave us scones and fruit for the next days travel. This will be one of our stops next time we come to Maine!
We recently stayed in one of the cabins at 2 River Road - the cabin was cheery and clean with a great heater for a surprisingly chilly evening, cozy blankets and a tree lined private porch with rocking chairs just right for reading with a cup of coffee. The staff was accommodating, courteous, and friendly and all amenities (linens, towels, hair dryer, kitchenware, etc) were included. The continental breakfast included delicious muffins and scones and there were three beautiful beaches nearby, along with many seafood restaurants and small shops for browsing. The inn and cottages are located right off route 1 but are set back from the road and surrounded by beautiful gardens. This is the perfect place for a Maine getaway or any social function.
The cottages were a great place to stay with our pup and we will be going back at the end of the summer for years to come. The pup loved it so much that he was obviously very sad in the photo when we told him he had to take off his 2 River Road Cottages t-shirt. The staff was friendly and the cottages were clean. They have a nice front porch that we enjoyed and there was a nice area to walk the pup as well. Right down the road was a dog friendly beach where we went after hours to let our little guy run and the restaurant there has outdoor seating upstairs that has a great view of the sunset and is dog friendly as well. The cabins were in a great spot to sit back and relax and enjoy the area and we recommend it to both humans and pets.
