The owners are spectacular. The rooms are amazing. Just what you would expect from a great B&B. I really enjoyed my time in Maine and the owners were sure to give my husband and I suggestions on places to visit during our stay. I will definitely go back just a little later in the fall so I can see the spectacular colors of Maine Autumn leaves.
We absolutely loved this cottage! The hubby wasn’t so sure when I booked it, but after we were inside and he saw the updated, private, cozy space he was happy too. It was like having our own cottage in the woods. The grounds were beautiful and both owners we met were very nice and helpful. They even gave us scones and fruit for the next days travel. This will be one of our stops next time we come to Maine!
We recently stayed in one of the cabins at 2 River Road - the cabin was cheery and clean with a great heater for a surprisingly chilly evening, cozy blankets and a tree lined private porch with rocking chairs just right for reading with a cup of coffee. The staff was accommodating, courteous, and friendly and all amenities (linens, towels, hair dryer, kitchenware, etc) were included. The continental breakfast included delicious muffins and scones and there were three beautiful beaches nearby, along with many seafood restaurants and small shops for browsing. The inn and cottages are located right off route 1 but are set back from the road and surrounded by beautiful gardens. This is the perfect place for a Maine getaway or any social function.
The cottages were a great place to stay with our pup and we will be going back at the end of the summer for years to come. The pup loved it so much that he was obviously very sad in the photo when we told him he had to take off his 2 River Road Cottages t-shirt. The staff was friendly and the cottages were clean. They have a nice front porch that we enjoyed and there was a nice area to walk the pup as well. Right down the road was a dog friendly beach where we went after hours to let our little guy run and the restaurant there has outdoor seating upstairs that has a great view of the sunset and is dog friendly as well. The cabins were in a great spot to sit back and relax and enjoy the area and we recommend it to both humans and pets.
Very disappointed. The Inn’s website is misleading. WiFi: There was no WiFi in our cottage. This was a big reason I booked this place, since I needed to check in at work. Manager suggested I sit in the gazebo near the office area to use the WiFi during my stay. ‘Walk to the beach’: Cape Neddick beach is over a mile away down a busy road with no sidewalks. No one is walking on this road. If you were to brave the traffic, it’s a 40 min walk according to google maps. Continental breakfast: Pre packaged Quaker oat bars, mini muffins and sugar cereal packets. The fruit was expired and brown. No juice or anything to drink. And water was $2 a bottle. There was coffee. Pool. An older looking above-ground pool surrounded by green AstroTurf. Cottage: Mostly clean but dead bugs/webs in corners and on window sills. Towels are thin. Tiny tv, no dresser or drawers to unpack, no clock, no phone, no WiFi and plastic on the mattress. The bathroom was nice. Smoking is not allowed inside cottages but there were people smoking outside and ashtrays on the porches. We were smelling cigarette smoke a lot. I grew up in the area and my mom stopped in. She was also surprised the reality was so different than what was on the website. I get 'rustic charm' but don’t exaggerate and mislead on your website to make it sound different than the reality. This is not your average motel/hotel experience. It's very rough around the edges. I ended up checking out early and going elsewhere. The manager offered an apology. I definitely feel ripped off.…
