This is a great place to stay in downtown Camden if you are looking for an affordable place to stay.. and during high season, not an easy find. That said, because it is affordable please know that you will not get luxury accommodations here. While our room was clean and comfortable, it is not updated and is on the older looking side. However, given the price we paid, we fully expected an older looking, un-updated room and we were happy with it because we have reasonable expectations. The location is excellent with plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance - the harbor and amphitheater is within 1/2 mile walking distance. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The free parking next to the hotel is very convenient. The breakfast is basic but well stocked. They also have beautifully maintained flower gardens. What makes this hotel different and stand out is that they have a bonfire and put out a s’mores bar every evening in the summer - super cool. They also provide free sunflower seeds at checkout.

Overall, I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again.

We used to stay at a resort by the breakwater but two years in a row our room was dirty. This year we opted to stay here and I’m so glad we did! Jackie the manager was so accommodating, housekeeping staff was so genuine and friendly and THOROUGH in their work, and we absolutely loved being situated in the heart of Camden and being able to walk to all the shops. Despite being near Main St. the hotel was so quiet and peaceful. Though it lacked some amenities and upgrades we were used to seeing in other hotels, it had everything we needed and was like staying with a friend. Unpretentious and wonderful. Highly recommend!

This is a beautiful one king bedroom apartment (Peach Door) all on one floor with a sunny living room and bedroom (with a small balcony) overlooking the river. It is part of the larger Camden Riverside House that was not open this time of year so some of our comments only apply to the apartment we had. There is an ample bathroom (rain shower and oversized deep tub) with lots of high quality towels. Also an eating area, kitchen with refrigerator/freezer, microwave, Keurig coffee make and blender. It is bare bones for dishes and eating utensils. It is appointed beautifully with leather couch and matching chair/ottoman, and plenty of lamps. There are two large screen TVs with Roku each in the bedroom and living room and free Wifi. And just a block to all the happenings intown. We would give it 5 stars but for a few minor issues. The top sheet on the bed was either a queen or full size and therefore did not fully cover us. There were air freshener beads in the bathroom and a plug in one in the bedroom that were overwhelming (we removed them both). The mattress was lumpy but firm. The room was cold when we got there and we had difficulty matching remotes to both the heat pump unit and the electric stove and one TV remote was missing. There were no toiletries other than soap although there were shampoo, conditioner and soap dispensers at both the tub and in the shower. Having said all that, management was very responsive and fixed all these issues. Overall a lovely stay!

The location of this hotel can't be beat. It's close enough to walk to everything, yet not on the main street or next to the harbor....which allows for a quiet setting, if desired. A substantial breakfast is included daily. During the evening ( weather permitting) there is a wonderful wood firepit with a circle of comfy chairs. We met friendly people and enjoyed great conversation each time. The grounds are lovely with flowers blooming all around and a quaint footbridge to enjoy the water flowing beneath it or to sit and have a yummy ice cream cone from the stand at the bridge end. We stayed in the " extended stay" building in a spacious one bedroom suite....complete with a delightful gas fireplace/stove. This suite included a very well-appointed kitchen with all appliances and cooking implements. I did give a 5 rating due to just 2 issues. Despite having two large closets, there were NO clothes hangers. We went to the desk to ask for some, but were told that there were none. It was problematic to keep nice shirts, pants, and dresses neat and wrinkle free. I have never experienced that before. The other issue was luggage assistance. We were on the second floor ( no elevator) with 3 heavy bags. Somehow we managed to drag everything up the stairs, as nobody could help us. We did it this time, but in another 8-10 years...it will be quite impossible, as we will be approaching 80 years old. This was a very nice hotel and a pleasant stay. A few hangers and a baggage helper would make it a 5.

Thank you for this review. We are pleased you enjoyed our extended stay inn. We apologize for the hangers and luggage assistance. You are right, the Inn property does not have an elevator. Not sure why there were no hangers, but we will look into that. Sometimes items go missing in rooms that we are not aware of. You are correct about this - it is a standard amenity and we apologize. We appreciate that you chose our property for your downtown Camden Stay and hope to see you again. The hotel does have an elevator and that might be a better choice for your next stay. We also have a ramp out front with ADA-accessible rooms.

Terrible!! We were very excited to visit Camden ME...until we checked in!! Room was filthy and covered in flies- dirty towels on the floor. Management was made aware and refunded our money- because according to the staff at the desk they were not able to clean the room on that day. Staff also could not offer suggestions on where we could stay. Luckily we found a much better location on our own!

This is our second, wonderful visit to the Camden Riverhouse Hotel. Our first visit was quite unexpected as we couldn't find anywhere else to stay, and just happened to spy the Camden Riverhouse Hotel from the main thoroughfare in Camden. Jackie welcomed us in and made our stay truly memorable.

So, we decided to visit Camden again and didn't even look for other accommodations. What makes this hotel different? The staff is superb. The gardens in the front are wonderfully kept, as is the plant and flower-covered bridge not 60 ft. from the front door. Another wonderful feature is the back patio where the staff often build a fire, around which guests can relax and roast pre-made smores.

Our second visit was made with a little trepidation because of the ongoing pandemic. Not to worry. The staff has made a lot of changes. There is hand sanitizer everywhere. And breakfast options still exist, albeit via a venue that respects social distancing. We were impressed. And we felt safe.

We only stayed at the Camden Riverhouse Hotel for one night, but would certainly return if we are ever in town again. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel provided a breakfast buffet with just about everything you could want for a quick bite complete with an outdoor deck to use while dining. The gentleman who was in charge of the breakfast area was friendly and very conscientious, making sure everything was clean and always stocked. The hotel is within walking distance of the center of town and the waterfront. The grounds were surrounded by many, many beautiful sunflowers as well as (interestingly) tomato plants! The hotel has a comfortable outdoor sitting area for relaxing, reading, sipping, etc.

We went for a tour on a sailboat on our checkout day and the hotel staff allowed us to leave our car in their lot while we were gone. That was a big help since parking near the waterfront was very limited. We appreciated that courtesy.

We would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying in Camden and would like to walk to the center of town and the waterfront.

We came to Camden on a weekend trip. We needed a hotel that would take our dog and found the Camden Riverhouse! They have some designated rooms that allow dogs and we were lucky enough to get one. It was roomy, the beds were comfortable and it had a large bathroom - all very clean. The people that were at the front desk were warm and friendly. The best part was the location - right off the main street - tucked away and quiet.
Great spot in Camden!

We stayed at this hotel due to its proximity to the Camden Amphitheatre where our daughter got married and to where the schooner was docked for the set sail reception. Much of the Camden downtown area is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. The desk clerks Ralph and TJ, were extremely friendly and a pleasure to talk with. We would definitely go back.
