My husband I stayed here for four nights while visiting the Maine coast. It was incredible. The inn has interesting history and is close to the harbor, shopping, and dining. Innkeepers Jeff and Shelly were the best part of the B&B experience; they are such gracious hosts who make the best gourmet breakfasts. You never leave hungry!!

My husband and I spent three nights here and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The location was great (walk to town/restaurants), three course breakfasts were incredible, and rooms were clean and lovely. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the hosts included nice touches in their recent renovation like Smart TV, gas fireplaces and in room AC/Heat. Since these are strange COVID times, cleanliness, people wearing masks and ability to distance and/or eat outside are important, and I felt the hosts did a great job in all areas. Enjoying the inn’s delicious breakfast on the large deck with the sun and nice breeze was a highlight of the stay. All in all, I highly suggest staying at this inn.

Thank you so much! It's a hard time to travel and we realize that so many guests are anxious, not knowing what to expect when they venture out. For so many of our guests, our Inn has been their first "over night" experience since Covid began. It's important to us that our guests feel comfortable and reassured by the measures we have in place. Glad you felt our three course breakfast was "incredible" and that you recommend staying at our Inn. Stay safe and we hope you consider a return visit should you be up this way again! - Carolyn & Rick

Wow is all I can say!!!

Our family of three recently had the pleasure of being a guest at the Captain Swift Inn. From the moment we arrived we felt a genuine sense of welcome from all the staff.

Carolyn and Rick, the Innkeepers, poured their heart and soul into every detail of the inn. As you enter the property, it is clear to see how meticulously they maintain the grounds and gardens. The inn itself was renovated recently and the common areas and rooms are perfectly decorated to make you feel comfortable. A welcome gift of several Maine specialty items, to include caramels, olive oil, blueberry preserves and maple syrup, greeted us as we entered our suite. We stayed in the Grace Bailey suite which offers a large 2-story space with a loft perfect for 3 people. It couldn’t have been more perfect for our 4-night stay.

At this point, we didn’t think our stay could get any better...until we had breakfast. OMG....a 3-course breakfast. The first course could be a customized yogurt parfait, steel cut oats, eggs any way or a charcuterie board. Next course consists of a creative fruit offering, for example, grilled peaches with a mango sorbet. Last course could be a strata, omelette, pancakes or French toast. Luckily there are plenty of outdoor activities in the surrounding area to work off the sumptuous breakfast.

Throughout our stay we enjoyed the scrumptious treats available such as homemade cookies, chocolate covered blueberries and trail mix. Water, ice tea, assorted sodas and coffee/tea are also readily available.

At night, you can enjoy a glass of wine by the beautiful fire pit. If you still have energy you can enjoy a game of bocce or corn hole. The outdoor spaces at the inn are perfectly suited for relaxing.

We were totally spoiled and truly sad to see our stay come to an end. Carolyn and Rick set the bar for our future B&B expectations.

xoxoxo

We had another fantastic visit to the Captain Swift Inn. The new owners have done an impeccable job updating the inn, and it was lovely to see what caring attention to detail they paid to each and every room. The owners were kind and accommodating to our late arrival and my food allergies, and they went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We love the town of Camden and we love the Captain Swift!

And We Love Your Feeback! Thanks so much for choosing to stay with us and taking the time to share your experience with us and others! We were so intentional with the renovation - keeping our guest experience center in mind. The services, updates , amenities and even the team we hired was all based on our desire to create the best lodging experience for our guests. We try to accommodate all special diets and realize guests may need to arrive outside stated check-in times. We were happy to oblige on both! Looking forward to having you back for another visit! My husband and I drove up the coast from Kennebunkport to Bar Harbor and stayed in 4 different B&B's. This one impressed us the most:)
The owners, Carolyn and Rick have set the gold standard for what a B&B experience should be like. They and their staff were attentive and helpful, making sure all of our needs were met if not exceeded. The Inn itself is stunning. Meticulously cared for, the rooms are gorgeous and the grounds are beautifully maintained. They have thought of every detail to make your stay a comfortable and memorable one. Fresh baked goodies and beverages were always available. Each and every time we walked back into the Inn, we were met with another delicious smell. Mary Jo poured her heart into preparing breakfast items for the next day. Speaking of breakfast, one word: Amazing! So delicious and so much food!
Given the current situation with Covid, they provided sanitizing stations and put into place many protocols to ensure our stay was a safe one without sacrificing the service element.
We will definitely return for another stay here in the future!

OMG Thank you! We can't tell you how appreciative we are when our guests take the time to write such amazing summaries of their experience while staying at the Inn. We are thrilled to know that of the 4 different B&Bs that you stayed at - you were most impressed with your time at our Inn! There were times during our 12 months of total renovation that we wondered if we'd ever get done (we opened with a back hoe in front of the Inn waiting to have all the landscape and hardscape work done which took longer than we expected:) But reading guest reactions - it was clearly time well spent! Truly honored to know you felt we were the "gold standard" of what a B&B should be! Everything we do is deliberate and done with guest satisfaction in mind. Thank you so much for selecting our Inn for your Camden visit! There are so many lodging choices in our beautiful seaside village and we are glad you selected us! And the very best news is that you enjoyed your stay so much that you will definitely return! We look forward to that - Thanks again for your very kind words - stay safe! Carolyn & Rick

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Captain Swift Inn on a recent trip to Camden. We have visited Camden a number of times and The Captain Swift is the third inn we have stayed at and our experience there could not have been better. The innkeepers Carolyn and Rick have a beautifully maintained property and their attention to detail shows. Carolyn greeted us upon arrival and gave us a tour, explaining the details of breakfast service, room amities and answering any questions we had. Rick cooked a wonderful breakfast. Everything is hand prepared. I had granola that was made in house and an omelette to follow it up. The Captain Swift is conveniently located within walking distance of Camden Village, which has a nice selection of small shops and restaurants. We never moved our car from the time we checked in until we checked out. We were able to walk, taking in all the sights and sounds of this quintessential Maine costal town. Large hotels offer a generic lodging experience. Staying at an inn offers the feel and experience of blending into the community. If you are looking for authentic hospitality on the Coast of Maine this is the place to stay. Carolyn and Rick are doing a good job managing their property during this time of Covid-19. They have taken precautions to see that everyone stays safe while still enjoying their property.

Our room was very clean, beautifully decorated, and had a very welcoming feel with warm fireplace, chocolates, robes, slippers, and a personal hand written welcome note card. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.
Now lets talk about the most wonderful breakfast food we have ever eaten. It was fantastic with homemade granola, fresh fruit, cheeses, jams, homemade bread, yogurts, and delicious main entrees . Breakfast is my husbands favorite meal of the day , he was spoiled. My waffles and eggs will never measure up to their 5 star performance. We are already planning on going back next year to have another fantastic unwind weekend there.

Just returned from a delightful two-night stay with Jeff and Shelly at their lovely inn. The Mercantile suite exceeded our expectations. The room and the inn were spotless and updated with many additional luxuries (candy in each sitting room, tea and coffee selections always available, chocolate-covered blueberries, trail mix for snacks and a selection of cold drinks). And the breakfasts! Blueberry pancakes and the fruit creations each morning were our favorites. Shelly made reservations for us to dine at Fresh and Co.and it was delicious. She also made reservations for a sunset sail which we truly enjoyed. Make reservations well ahead of time! We were lucky to get a last-minute cancellation. We will definitely return on our next trip to the area!

For our first post-Covid trip we chose Camden, Maine and the Captain Swift Inn. We're certainly glad we did! The Inn is conveniently located a couple blocks from downtown. It's in excellent shape, retaining charm while providing every modern convenience you might want. Carolyn and Rick bend over backwards to make sure your experience is "over the top". Good isn't good enough, it's got to be perfect. Their staff take the cue of the owner/innkeepers and are outstanding. Our two breakfasts exceeded our expectations. We stayed in two different rooms due to our late booking, and both offered us super comfy beds, linens, towels, robes....you name it, it was all high end.

Rick and Carolyn take Covid seriously. We were wondering if we'd feel safe, and we did. Linens are cleaned daily, masks and sanitizer are readily available and ALWAYS used by staff, and the place is just incredibly clean.

And, of course, we will be back!

Great, Great, Great! Great that you will be back! Great that you enjoyed your stay and Great that our breakfasts exceeded your expectations! Our goal is to over deliver ever time - and you got it right - good isn't good enough at the Inn:) In fact those are the same words I use when speaking to candidates for possible employment with us. It has to be done right or it's not worth doing. So glad you got that sense and that you felt safe while staying with us in light of all the Covid related concerns. Our team members are amazing - thanks for noticing and they all know that their number one job is guest satisfaction regardless of the tasks they perform. Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and thorough review of your stay and we are thrilled to know that you will be back! Stay safe - Carolyn & Rick

Have just gotten home from our second stay at the "Captain Swift Inn." Nat and I love this charming inn replete with every luxury and convenience one could hope for. What makes this place so special are the new owners Jeff and Shelley who exude warmth and friendliness and made our visit so memorable. In addition to leaving treats throughout the downstairs common rooms they can prepare quite the sumptuous 3 course breakfast complete with intermezzo! The Italian strata, blueberry pancakes, homemade granola were all delicious.
Our room was the Mattie which is a luxury suite with king-sized bed, a second living area upstairs and a jetted tub in the bathroom as well as a jetted shower! Sumptuous bed linens, big fluffy Turkish towels and the heavenly scents of the Italian toiletries will make you think you're in heaven as the cozy fire by the bed warms you.
Cannot wait to come back and see Shelley and Jeff! They will truly make you feel welcome in their home.

My room was a suite: It had: coffee maker fridge that they stocked with drinks at no charge popcorn included I believe there was a microwave for the popcorn, but we didn't use it. NO laundry, but there is a laundromat down the street that washed and folded our things. fireplace 2 levels so my son had his own area jetted tub spa shower ...and the most AMAZING hosts EVER. There were homemade cookies and fruit available all day. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, sodas, water all day. I would recommend this all day, any day. Would love to go back.
