We had another wonderful stay at the Timbercliffe Cottage Inn, our third. Warm and helpful hosts, comfortable rooms, great breakfasts, a cozy living room and a gorgeous view make this our "go-to" place on the Maine coast. We've already made reservations for next year.

We spent six nights at Timbercliffe including one during Hurricane Lee. The hosts, Lucia and Kevin are very hospitable. Lucia is a competent tour guide preparing maps of places and activities tailored to each guest’s interests. The breakfasts are delicious with guests needs considered and honored. With the hurricane imminent, flashlights were provided in each room and stairs and common areas were lit. This all came in handy as there was a power outage of a number of hours.
Suggestions: The rooms are in dire need of more and better lighting. There was only one lamp to facilitate reading in one chair. If people are “unplugging” reading is an important activity to support. In the same vein, it is too dark between the parking lot and the path into the inn. More or better outdoor lighting is needed for safety from falls. Finally, especially in view of the need to keep current during weather or other noteworthy events, standard size flat screen TVs should be in each room; thus allowing the guests to decide whether or not she wishes to indulge.

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay and for your thoughtful suggestions - we appreciate and consider them! If you are at a loss for lighting in the room, please do let the innkeeper know! We will gladly add more lighting to suit! We pride ourselves in having a period home with fine, comfortable and relaxing furnishings with appropriate lighting. We provide a reading lamp adjacent to the wing chair in each room, but if our guests need additional light, we gladly oblige, just let us know. at our inn, we purposely do not provide large screens. We have found that most of our guests spend their time out enjoying the beauty of the area, charm of the town, relax on the porch, or engaging with other guests. Unlike a hotel, we provide relaxng common areas for connecting with others and a whole library of interesting topics as well as an arsenal of table games, new and old, to provide a respite from the daily screens. That said, we do provide a great WIFI network so that guests can stay in touch. We do have additional solar lighting coming to bolster the front walk lights - particularly as it begins to get dark earlier. However, we bear in mind that we are in a rural residential neighborhood and need to be considerate of neighbors around us. The parking, main porch and entry lights are always on after dark. Again, we appreciate your thoughts! Sincerely, Lucia and Kevin

We decided on the Timbercliff Cottage after reading reviews and we were happy we did. Lucia , the owner , and her husband , were very welcoming. They keep a lovely inn and are full of suggestions of what to do and see in the area. Our room , at the front of the house, was large with a working fireplace and a great view of the water. I loved the parlor as well as the porch for relaxing and having a chance to chat with other guests. Breakfast was delightful and I appreciated having acess to coffee, tea , hot chocolate and snacks throughout the day. The inn is about 3/4 of a mile from where shops and restaurants are and an easy walk or short drive. Being an artist I enjoyed sketching the house and the view Would highly recommend this inn.

While there seem to be many bed and breakfasts in Camden, Maine. I don't think you will find one more warm or welcoming than the one provided by Lucia at the Timbercliff Cottage Inn. She had a wealth of information about the area and gave us many good recommendations. The inn itself was clean, comfortable and charming. We especially enjoyed spending time on the front porch from where we could see a distant water view. The water wasn't the only thing to look at as property has many beautiful trees and blooming flowers to enjoy. We also appreciated the delicious, cooked breakfast provided each morning. Heads up to early morning coffee.drinkers, coffee is not available until 7:30 am. The coffee though was excellent as were many of the items offered in the Keeping Room. A shared mini fridge was also provided for guests to use. For us, the 15 to 20 minute walk into town was ideal and allowed us to explore town without the hassle of parking. BTW parking at the end is free.

We were lucky to secure a last-minute booking as part of a short anniversary celebration trip to Maine. Only 2 rooms were available for a Saturday night stay and I now can see why. The house, dating back to 1790, with its classic New England charm is not only historic, but a warm and inviting place to while away the hours just soaking in the atmosphere. The rooms are tastefully decorated to match the period, but not cluttered with antiques so much as to take away from the building itself. Staying at the Timbercliffe Cottage is like stepping back in time, providing a glimpse of a bygone era and its simple elegance. The house sits less than a mile from the center of town and the harbor, making it very easy to walk to all of the nearby restaurants and shops.
Beyond the aesthetics of the house, the bed was very comfortable and our room (The Widow Pendleton's Chamber) on the second floor was more than enough space for two people. Breakfast, normally served in the dining room, was enjoyed on the expansive front porch or on the garden terrace. All of the offered items were very fresh and our attentive hosts, Lucia and Keith could not have been more hospitable. My only critique of breakfast would be that I wish there had been a little more of it. It was not quite enough fuel to satiate this hungry traveler. Nonetheless, the entire experience was extremely enjoyable, and I would most definitely book here again; hopefully for a longer stay next time.

Hello Dear Guest! Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are very glad that you had a nice stay overall, however, making a delightful breakfast for guests is one of the pleasures of our business, so, I'm most disappointed to know that we sent you off not replete with home cooking! - We usually cook too much just in case and often ask if guests want a bit more or come around with additions.... So, please accept my apologies if on the only day you were able to join us for breakfast, I did not do so! I hope that you let us try again. We're pleased that you mentioned would book again and look forward to your next visit! Again, thanks for your review!

What a stunning inn, perched on a hillside overlooking the sea. Lucia and Kevin, the innkeepers, have thought of every detail in this beautifully appointed Colonial B&B. Our rooms were comfortable and each had it’s own bathroom. They were also quiet, had very comfortable beds (mattress and linens) and there was excellent water pressure (an important detail, IMHO). Breakfasts were yummy and we had the choice of eating on the front porch or in their beautiful dining room. Nearby, there are many activities including sailing, kayaking, biking and hiking. If you are looking for a getaway along the Maine coast, I highly recommend Timbercliffe Cottage.

We had a wonderful, three-day stay at the Timbercliffe Cottage Inn. The hosts, Lucia and Kevin, were very welcoming and gave us a tour of the Inn on our arrival. The room was clean and the bed quite comfortable. But is was the view from our window that attracted us to this particular room, the Capt. Pendleton, a view of North Haven and Vinalhaven over Penobscot Bay. Two sitting rooms on the first floor provide ample space to read a book, play a game, or just talk. The porch across the front of the Inn also faces the water and has comfortable chairs for relaxing, even in the chill of mid-October. The Inn is set far enough back from and above Rt. 1 that it is relatively quiet.
Breakfasts was served the dining room or, if one preferred, at a table in the living room or on the porch. The breakfasts were delicious, different on each day. Lucia is a talented cook. Each day after breakfast, Lucia would provide maps of the area and suggest places that we should visit. We are pretty familiar with this part of Maine, but Lucia knew wonderful sites and trails that we had never visited before. Even given one rainy day, we had no problem keeping busy.
The Inn is an easily-walked half mile from the center of Camden and its stores and restaurants. The walk is safe even in the dark.
Overall, the combination of a lovely old inn, a great view, and very accommodating hosts made for a wonderful stay. Lucia and Kevin make hosting look easy, although we know it is not. An added bonus and highlight was their lovely Borzoi, Finn.

I found this gem online with my following criteria: ocean view, smaller inn, friendly hosts, healthy hot breakfast, close but not in busy downtown Camden, and near recreational activities. The Timbercliffe Cottage Inn checked off all my boxes and exceeded our expectations! The 1790 cottage has lovely historical features yet 21st century comforts including tasteful decor, very clean rooms, really comfortable beds and quiet rooms, warm fireplace in the living area, huge wraparound porch with swing and to relax and enjoy a wonderful iew of the ocean that a sea-going Captain used to savor from this perch. Lucia and Kevin are fun, very friendly but not intrusive. Lucia provides lots of local tips for exploring the area and picking the right restaurant. They provide a gourmet breakfast that rivals some of the best hotels where we have stayed - delicious local flavor. The Inn is about a mile from downtown Camden and at the foot of Mt. Battie which has an auto road and hiking trails which we enjoyed. I am so grateful we found the Timbercliffe Cottage Inn and hope to return again for a relaxing, oceanside getaway - perhaps in the winter this time for some snowy sports as they are open year round!

Timbercliffe Cottage Inn is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Camden, ME. A beautifully decorated historical house on beautiful grounds. The room was very comfortable, the breakfasts prepared by innkeeper, Lucia were delicious and served beautifully. Cannot say enough about our weekend spent in Camden. Lucia mapped out fantastic points of interest and we saw so much of this nautical town and surrounding area. We look forward to returning and spending more time at our Camden “home away from home”!

We were concerned about venturing out in these times of the coronavirus, but decided to take our annual September trip to Camden anyway. I wanted to find a place to stay that was not right in the busy downtown area, but close enough to walk to. Social distancing and a safe, clean environment were also priorities. Timbercliffe Cottage Inn met those requirements but so much more. The location is perfect, set high on a hill with beautiful views of Penobscot Bay in the distance. Enjoying breakfast on the expansive front porch was the perfect way to start the day. On chilly days, it was lovely to sit by the fireplace and read in the large living room. There’s also a cozy library room and both rooms have windows looking out onto the large front yard. Our room , the 1620 Chamber, was lovely and extremely clean and cozy. The bathroom was very small, but the shower worked surprisingly well. Owners Lucia and Kevin were the consummate hosts and Lucia’s creatively delicious breakfasts were wonderful . Coddled eggs with ratatouille and ham with a side of blueberry crumble was a favorite during our 4 day visit. We can’t thank them enough for making us feel so welcome and we hope to return to Timbercliffe Cottage very soon. .

Thank you for your inquiry. We love pets but we do not accept pets at the B&B. Blackberry Commons may accept pets and they are located in Camden. Pine Grove Cottages, just down the road in Lincolnville, accepts pets.
