#3 of 19 B&Bs / Inns in Camden
Travelers' Choice
The Camden Maine Stay Inn is an elegant bed-and-breakfast inn that is open for year-round enjoyment. The charming, relaxed and friendly Inn was built in 1802, is the second oldest residence in Camden and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Each of the eight beautiful, romantic guest rooms has its own distinctive character. Many rooms in the Inn have wide-plank wood floors that are original to the house, and several rooms have old-fashioned gas heating stoves or fireplaces. Guests can socialize in our comfortable living room, play or listen to the antique Steinway grand piano in our parlor, or relax in front of the fireplace and watch a favorite TV show or movie in our den. The Inn has a spacious, beautifully landscaped garden adjacent to the house which includes walking paths, sitting areas and a stream flowing from nearby Mt. Battie. A full gourmet breakfast is included with your room and homemade cookies, coffee and tea are available every afternoon and evening.

Our recent stay at the Camden Maine Stay Inn exceeded our expectations. This handsome historic Inn is situated on a beautiful piece of spacious landscaped property within walking distance of downtown Camden shops and restaurants. Our room was decorated beautifully and was appointed with every amenity for our comfort and convenience. No detail was overlooked . Our gracious innkeepers, Peter and Janis Kesser, served a gourmet breakfast each morning in a beautiful glassed , large breakfast room overlooking the lovely yard. The linens and china were beautiful and the food itself was delicious and beautifully presented. Before Peter and Janis bought the inn, they lived in Memphis Tennessee and their inn oozes with southern hospitality and graciousness. You will love them and their inn!

Property's Favorite Review
We spent 4 nights here last week. If you're looking for the quintessential historic Maine inn, in one of Maine's most gorgeous historic fishing villages, look no further. The Camden Maine Stay Inn will check off all of your boxes. The inn is stunning and decorated with beautiful period furniture, impeccably cared for. We slept so soundly here. The yard and gardens are stunning as well, perfect to sit out in the afternoon with a glass of wine. The innkeepers Pete and Janice (and their beautiful daughters) were so welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They gave us great ideas for exploring. Now, the breakfasts......are NOT to be missed! Janice and Pete made and served us the most incredible breakfasts we've ever had at any inn (and we travel a lot)! The spectacular french toast with a delicious filling, the waffles, dropped eggs and frittata's were all served with fresh fruit bowls and local bacon, sausage and veggies. All the food locally sourced and prepared perfectly. We can't say enough about our stay, a keeper for sure. We'll be back! Thanks again to Pete and Janice for such a wonderful stay!! Anne and Jim Kingston, Ma.

Spent the weekend at this wonderful place. We were greeted and treated so very kindly by the innkeepers, I almost did not want to leave the house! Comfortable bed, very clean, beautifully decorated, and making new friends rounded out a great weekend. I almost did not want to write a review because I don't want to share...but I like them so much I just had to do it! We will return!

My husband, daughter, and I occupied the Huse room over a rare November weekend in Maine: sunshine and sixties. As the other reviews indicate, our experience featured superlative hosts, delectable food, exemplary cleanliness, and charming accommodations. Some of my best literary friends occupied the shelves--Orwell, Hemingway, Rand, Mitchell--what could be better?

From one Janis to another, thank you, Janice, for your great review!!! Peter and I are glad to know that you liked the Huse suite with its two bedrooms and separate living room. It seems to be a perfect roomy space for families traveling together like you did. Cooking and reading are two of my favorite activities and I am happy to hear that you enjoyed both my food and my books! We hope you can return again in the future! Janis

The Camden Maine Stay Inn is located just 2 blocks from the dead center of Camden. More importantly it is a beautiful building, with lovely interior rooms, a delightful breakfast rooms and gorgeous grounds. My room was perfectly appointed. But of all the innkeepers are friendly, hospitable and warm hosts. My stay could not have been better.
