We arrived in Calais later in the day after driving from Massachusetts, This was the first day of a 12 day trip to Canada and we were going in with no reservations, not knowing how far we could make it, but wanting to get to the border. Nothing fancy but it was comfortable for one night and also very reasonable.... More

We were on first floor. Very out dated and smelly! Not clean. The owners are not friendly. I have heard that it is family run and they do not care if you are there or not. That seemed to be very true. Very thins walls and floors. Was very noisy. Sounded like the floor was going to cave in. Next... More

Not fancy, not super-friendly, but clean, serviceable, and reasonably priced. No bugs, no mildew or cigarette smells, and while I don't remember anything outstanding about the bed, we slept well. We were a bit disappointed not to have a riverview room, but from the reviews I see that the room we did have may have been preferable. We were only... More

These rooms are very noisy when someone is in the room above you. The walls and ceiling are so thin you can hear every move made above you. There is no sleep to be had in these rooms and they should not even charge for them. The view of the river is very nice and worth extra cost if you... More

We were just so pleased with our first stay here on our way to visit Canada. The area appears safe with lots of parking. An UPPER floor riverfront room was just delightful with a wonderful view (see photo). A good TV with many channels and a basic clean quiet room overall. On our return home we definitely wanted to stay... More

We booked a non smoking room because my wife has breathing problems and were assured there would be no smoking rooms close to us, the room was looking over the river People below us smoked cigars and barbecued using wood to get the charcoal barbecue going which seemed a little odd, it filled the room full smoke and prevented us... Nice view of the river. Big porch, I assume there would be chairs in warmer weather. Good price, very clean, outdated, but fine. As others have said, it is not well soundproofed. We travel with a noise sleep machine, so it did not bother us. The wifi worked very well for us.

motel has not updated many of the room in the past very years, so a bit of a hodge-podge as to room quality. Newest section, the river view section, have very poor insulation so you hear neighboring room noise, and morning the sound of water pipes as showers/baths are taken. staff are very nice and will try and make up... Initially booked a river-view room. Turns out the soundproofing in the riverfront building is really bad. Could hear all details of the argument going on next door. They moved us to one of the other buildings, and it was better, but still not up to modern hotel standards. Otherwise an okay place to stay. Just bring a "sleep sounds" generator.
