Has the elevator been out of service/tagged for years? Yes. Has there been no HVAC/heating/cooling for months? Yes. I got to the hotel, unfortunately, late at night and immediately called to change my reservation to another inn. I still had to stay one night. The room smelled like stale air...like there hadn't been fresh air for a long time. When I checked out the front desk person told me that the (new) owners refused to put any money into the hotel. It was awful. Just awful. Stay away.

I had made a reservation for my daughter and I to stay at the Daniel for three night in mid January. My daughter was coming to Brunswick to look for an apartment. While we were in the car on the way to the airport we received a phone call from the Daniel saying that they had to cancel our reservation because they were closed. They did not offer any reason for the closure but they added that they could reopen as soon as that afternoon, or they could remain closed for a number of days. I will say that they did help us: they had checked on availability at other hotels and were able to make another reservation for us.The whole situation seemed to be very strange. Having now gone back and read the reviews relating that this had happened to other guests, I now state categorically that I will never make a reservation there again. Why take a chance of ending up on the floor in my daughter's apartment?? At least it wasn't Parents Weekend as it was for some poor folks!

Save your money and book elsewhere. Everything was closed - restaurant, bar, elevator, breakfast. Literally only got a room. Even that had a tub that didn’t work. Definitely wouldn’t spend the extra money here.

The Daniel is a beautiful hotel and is capable of much better accommodations. Hopefully with changes as stated in each comment area, we will return for a stay. Over all, it was not what we expected. Thank you!

We have stayed at the Daniel before and enjoyed the quaint property a little off of the main street. When we arrived this time, we were informed there was no central heat, but we would have an in-room heater and our room would already be toasty warm. It was late and if you know Brunswick, there are not a lot of options. Then we were informed that the elevator was out of service and our rooms were on the the third floor. The woman at the front desk said " You're okay with your bags, right?" which basically meant don't expect any help from me. She was clearly not going to get up and assist us. We got to the room and the heater had NOT been turned on and the room was cold. The rooms are fine in terms of space/furnishings. But the basic attitude was that they were doing you a favor to stay here and not to ask for anything. Too bad - this used to be a much more welcoming property.
