Very nice view of the lake. Peaceful and quiet. Nice fire pit as well as plenty of places to cook out and a large fireplace at the waters edge. A little disappointed with the beds as the site stated pillow top mattresses but the queen size bed was far from. It we not very comfortable and was noisy with every... More

I'm very glad you enjoyed your stay here the other day! We just added the fire pit last fall, but have had the lakeside fireplace, grills, and picnic tables for almost 20 years. As for the beds, I'm sorry for the confusion. The top-of-the-line Serta pillow-top mattresses are a feature of our Executive Rooms only, which have either a king... More

The rooms were very clean and had a lot of space. The lake is beautiful and we really enjoyed all of the activities especially kayaking. It was a very relaxing and we truly enjoyed all the outdoor activities.

Although not as up to date as most chains, the location is great and the owner is very friendly. This town has a variety of eating establishments from fast food through fine dining. You may need a reservation to get in the better places on the weekend. Our room was a suite with kitch and living room area, ideal for... More

Thank you for the review! I was a little surprised to see one, since we've been closed over the winter. But then I saw that your stay was in October. Whew! We are definitely not as "up-to-date as most chains, which, to me, is good. Most chains require upgrades whether they are needed or not. I sometimes think the costs... More

Looking for accommodations for three days for ourselves and our extended family, three distinct groups, while attending the wedding of our daughter, we were not expecting more than a typical 'motel' type of room. However when we arrived we were personally greeted by Woody, the owner and when we entered our room we were overwhelmed by the pleasant and comfortable... More

Knowing that there is limited lodging options in Bridgton my wife and I had hoped that the good reviews and the comforting feeling one gets around the word "resort" would offer us lodging that we could enjoy. This was not the case. This was a typical motel with zero updates made for many many years. The beds were small and... More

I'm so very sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay at the resort! We obviously didn't live up to your expectations of what we should be, and must have been truly disappointing to you to receive a "one star" rating. I could explain the reasons for the relatively-small rooms, but I've discussed this in other guest responses before. I should... More

A surprising nice place to stay and to sleep. We had a good price, especially with canadian-USA exchange. We would enjoy the place much longer when we saw hamac chairs and such a nice lake woww.... must be a nice place to swim.

We were in the Lake Region on a business/leisure trip and booked this hotel fairly last-minute. We called Woody, the owner, to check availability and he could not have been more helpful. We stayed in Room 102 - very clean room, great view of the lake, and quiet. Some reviewers say that the traffic on N. High St. was loud,... More

Thank you for your very kind words! Gotta be honest. The "upper" rooms (all rooms are on one level, but one building is slightly higher "up" the slope down to the lake, hence the "upper") were built in the 1950's, when people finally had rubber for tires and gas for their cars. "Motor inns" and the like were designed to... More

A little over 16 years ago I agreed as a favor to an old friend to spend a few weeks working and cleaning rooms at Highland Lake. It was possibly one of the best things I've ever done. This is by far one of my most favorite places in the world to visits. This past weekend I spent my honeymoon... More

It was so great to have you back after all these years! I loved your surprise at all of the new things we've built and added over that time, as well as your comfort in knowing that some things -- the beautiful lake, the peacefulness, and the ability to step away from everyday cares -- will always be around. We held our family reunion there, 73 people. This is an event we hold every five years. People come from both the USA and Canada. This is the second time we have used this site, the last being 2010. The staff have been most accommodating and the grounds are perfect for games, swimming and boating. The rooms are comfortable and... More

I see we had many people from the early August Family Reunion make comments here on TripAdvisor. I just wish there was a place for PROPERTIES to review guests! We have had many reunions here over the years. Many are small and simple and pass right through. Others are loud, boisterous, with lots of family squabbles and interference with other... More

Clean rooms with new bathrooms. Nice kitchenette with stove and refrigerator. A/C and nice porch. But BEST was the lake! We swam into the evening and again first thing in the morning. They have canoes and kayaks for use and we paddled around the lake. We will certainly stay again when back in Maine. My kids loved it and took... More
