We had the opportunity to book the room under the "Pay what you can" plan and were very pleased. Laura was excellent from initial point of contact all the way thru the stay. We were fortunate to book the Russell Suite and it was wonderful. Clean, spacious and nice decorated. Breakfast was delicious, even tho she was limited, in keeping with COVID guidelines. Convenient to the harbor and yet away from the hustle and bustle. Thanks again for the wonderful accomodations, breakfast and our pics from our cruise Laura. Look forward to a future stay.

My experience began when I called to ask a few questions before our stay which I had surprised my wife with. I spoke to Linsey and she set the pace for our whole stay! She sounded excited and offered to help print something out that I needed. Such a simple offer that goes a long way! Once we arrived we just loved the place. It was very clean and kept even for mid February. The rooms are amazing and so unique! The next day we met Krystal who was just as pleasant and helpful. We felt right at home. These two ladies MADE the stay for us. They are on point with their charisma and professionalism. As we left we saw the two of them cleaning and flipping rooms over...this is after they served breakfast and handled all clean up. Dynamic duo for sure! If I could hire them for my cafe I would!!! We will return for sure! Thank you!

My husband booked a room through the Russell Website about a month ago for my Christmas gift. When we arrived we were very excited to head to Thistle Inn for dinner then see the lights. The night was perfect until the innkeepers knocked on our door and came in our room at 8:45 pm. They said the people downstairs were complaining about our 2 yo running around for 2 hours - We hadn’t even been back to the room that long. The innkeepers stayed more than just a moment to tell us of the downstairs Massachusetts couple. They went on to say we were violating code by having our 2 yo old there and said we must of booked through a 3rd party - which we didn’t. We have the receipt where my husband wrote we would have our 2 yo daughter with us. They also said they didn’t want to have to come back ... like we were going to “party” in to the night. My daughter was just about to go to bed at the time they came. Which I totally get not wanting someone running around above you it was before 9 pm. After the innkeepers left the room we were so put off by, not only them entering our room and accusing us rather than saying something like “the neighbors said it was loud and please be mindful and so sorry” but also the threat that they didn’t want to have to come back, that we left and drove back to Portland with our 2 yo. The next day I called and asked for a refund, which not only hasn’t been given but our email hasn’t been responded to. We left so quickly that evening that my husband left his phone. I asked them if they could ship it and they said we had to pay for shipping, which in normal circumstances I would say ok our mistake, but after having guests leave, as a business owner myself, I would be doing my best to do anything to make my guests happy. We’ve stayed here and recommended to many but never will again.

Sarah, The whole situation surrounding your recent stay was indeed upsetting for everyone, and for that we are truly sorry. I wish that you had given us more than a couple of days over our holiday break to respond offline, as you yourself had suggested. One of the challenges of operating a small luxury bed and breakfast is not being a good fit for young families. It is such a pleasure to share this beautiful area with traveling families but find that our policies, including room occupancy (as required by our insurance) and quiet hours are often difficult for our smallest guests. Balancing the needs of each of our guests to ensure best experiences does sometimes require visiting or calling a guest room. While our guest comfort and privacy are top concerns, we do have to ensure our policy is followed. We simply could not ignore the multiple noise complaints, and even after your departure, had to manage a complaint about your unnecessary and rude comment to the guests from Massachusetts. We are happy to hear that you were able to have a friend pick up the phone and sound machine. Unfortunately, our cancellation/refund policy does not cover guests choosing to leave early, so we will not be able to issue a refund. We wish you the best in the new year.
