My husband and I stayed at Holidae House in the beginning of December, and it was lovely! John and Jeanette are fabulous B&B hosts: responsive, welcoming, friendly, respectful of personal space, fun to chat with, knowledgeable about the area, artistic (some of the prints hanging in the house are pictures they took, and some of the holiday decor Jeanette made and is for sale!), and of course the food was scrumptious. We were surprised and delighted by Jeanette's cooking flare combined with attention to detail that incorporated locally sourced ingredients. My husband appreciated the freshly ground coffee. They truly care about their guests' experience, and go above and beyond to provide a safe environment (especially during COVID) and celebrate special occasions (they made my birthday extra special!).

We stayed in room #5 (White Pine) and would definitely recommend this room. We were the only guests when we stayed and there were no noise issues for us, although for light sleepers in a full house, this room might not be ideal for you because it's off the living room/kitchen. However, a white noise machine is provided in the room, so I would think that should help! Even though we were very comfortable throughout the night, we appreciated the instructions for turning our room steam radiators off if needed. The room is larger than the pictures appear, and things like USB/outlets next to each side of the bed, cable TV, and the recent upgrades in the bathroom provide modern touches, while keeping in line with the Victorian style of the house. The Jacuzzi tub was wonderful, especially after a day of skiing!

We would recommend a stay at the Holidae House for anyone who appreciates true hospitality in a picturesque town. Thank you John + Jeanette!

My husband and I spent the day skiing and the night at Holidae House BnB. We stayed in Room 5 and booked the day of our stay so received the walk in rate of $30 off the normal rate. Our room was directly off the living room but was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were great. We walked to dinner (7 minutes) at 22 Broad St. Dinner was excellent but be sure to make a reservation. I loved the complimentary after dinner drinks back in the living room at the inn along with home made cookies! The breakfast was delicious. I will definitely stay here the next time we visit Bethel!

Our December weekend stay at Holidae House B&B was a great experience. The location was right in the heart of historic Bethel. An easy walk to local shops and restaurants and a very short drive to other local attractions such as Sunday River Resort, hiking destinations and local breweries. The inn itself was updated yet very much remained the classic, antique Bed and Breakfast feel that you look for. The holiday decor was beautiful and the entire B&B was extremely well maintained. We stayed in Room #5- White Pine. The room was located on the main floor and was very spacious compared to other B&B rooms that I’ve experienced. The room was clean and contained all the amenities needed. The attached bathroom was updated with fresh paint and a decent sized jacuzzi tub. Added bonus that the water pressure in the shower was fantastic! The innkeepers John and Jeanette were super friendly and accommodating. You could tell that they took pride in their business and were there to ensure that the guests were well taken care of. Breakfast was delicious. The fresh ground coffee each morning was the perfect start to the day. The incorporation of fresh local fruit into both day’s meals was appreciated. They worked around a food allergy and had a wide array of tea and pastries available throughout the day. All and all, we had a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend visiting any time of year. Be sure to check out the maps located in the dining area. They showed where all of the guests that have visited the inn were from. I found it fascinating!

John and Jeanette are wonderful hosts and make this B&B very memorable. We will return next time we’re in the neighborhood.

The building is an old Victorian that needs some work, but it has a lot of charm. We stayed in room #4, the Rose room, which is by the road. We probably wouldn’t pick this room in the future due to late night snow plowing across the street.

All aspects of our visit had been thought through by our hosts, and we were introduced to all key parts of the inn by John, even at our late 10pm arrival.

Breakfast was delightful and the coffee is excellent! Covid restrictions were enforced politely and spacing is done pretty well.

Again, a wonder stay hosted by wonderful people.

We stayed for one night at the Holidae House to position ourselves for a backpack in Maine. We were very pleased with our stay--there is a lot of attention to detail and willingness to be helpful and accommodating. We interacted with John who was very kind and eager to make sure our stay was a comfortable one. The location is great within extremely short walking distance of restaurants, the post office, coffee, and a supermarket. The room was very clean and well appointed. We would definitely consider staying here again! Thanks, John, for being so personable and helpful!

The thing that stands out the most to us is the over-the-top friendliness of the owners, who tripped over themselves trying to serve us. Whatever we needed, they offered to get for us. The home-cooked breakfasts were out of this world. So were the cookies. The bedrooms were quaint and some of the bathrooms were small (depending on which room you chose.) We took one with a smaller shower but it still worked out fine. The rooms and the house are clean and homey. It’s definitely a Victorian house with all the oddities, but there was nothing in disrepair. The hospitality was incredible, again. We felt very welcome and comfortable.

This was my first stay in a B&B so I have no comparison, but I was impressed by the attention to detail. The hosts seem to have thought of everything a guest might need. For example, rooms have a corkscrew and wine glasses because many people are celebrating when traveling. The room has electric and USB outlets and a sound effect machine. We were on the first floor by the front door and the staircase but we were not disturbed by any noise. It is an old building with old creaky floors, which is part of the charm, but I was surprised by how quiet it was. The breakfast was delicious. You can walk to a few stores and restaurants. The hosts were nice and very helpful. I would definitely recommend Holidae House.

The Holidae House B&B in Bethel, Maine is a great place to stay! We were there for two nights because we were attending a wedding in the area. Our room was lovely (#2 Iris), the beds were very comfortable, and the private bathroom was huge and included a full size tub and shower. We were asked if we had food allergies and/or wished to have a gluten free breakfast. We did have gluten free breakfasts for both mornings and they were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented, along with freshly ground cups of coffee! One breakfast came with bacon and the other with sausages.
The hosts John and Jeanette are warm, welcoming people who take great pride in their B&B, and are happy to tell you all about the area, best restaurants, the Gem and Mineral Museum across the street, and also very accommodating about your needs (for example needing extra pillows and preferring gluten free breakfasts). Jeanette also puts out homemade cookies during the day, and there is tea and coffee available when ever you want it.
During covid they have been careful to register guests who come in separately, and people eat breakfast in the breakfast room at different times. In addition, the place is kept very clean. We did feel as safe as possible.
Location, location, location!!! Just about every great restaurant is in walking distance so just park your car in the B&B's parking lot, and you can walk to fine restaurants that are only a block or two away.
My husband and I highly recommend this B&B!

Enjoyed our stopover in Bethel at Holidae House! John and Jeanette are great hosts - very thoughtful and accommodating! Obviously they have expended an immense amount of thought and love into insuring their guests are comfortable and relaxed. Appreciated the little touches in Room 8, like power ports and a nightlight.

Not used to staying in a B&B, I had to ensure our boys (17, 22) that it was not only acceptable but encouraged to spend some time in the common living room, enjoying a cookie. Perfect half-way point from Stowe, VT to Bar Harbor after driving Mt. Washington.

From the moment we arrived, John and Jeanette were the perfect hosts. John gave us a warm welcome and detailed tour that included recommendations for excellent dining within walking distance, and Jeanette set out freshly baked goodies to accompany a trove of complimentary liquid refreshments to help us unwind from traveling. Our accommodations were clean and charming, the bed was comfortable and the room temperature was just right (we visited mid-winter) for an excellent night's sleep. In the morning we woke to delicious freshly-made breakfast and chatted over coffee with our gracious hosts, who even offered us a table at their dining room for dinner that night (even after we had checked out and been skiing for the day) when we mentioned we might get dinner at a local food truck before heading home. We will definitely be back!

Bethel, Maine
Hello from Holidae House! I am so sorry for the delayed response. We are about 6 miles from Sunday River so it takes about 12 minutes to get there. There is a free shuttle service that is provided by Bethel and Sunday River. Last year it ran every hour and it starts a few hours before the lifts open and it runs into the night. And there is a stop 2 buildings down the street from us, just a few hundred feet. ☺ Also, if you do decide to drive somewhere while you are here you likely would not have problems (depending on where you were going) unless it was snowing at the time, they take very good care of the streets. Also on the "not driving" front, there are four very good restaurants and a few cafes or sandwich shops within walking distance of the Inn! If there is anything else you need to know please let us know. Our info is listed on our site (sorry, the guidelines won't allow us to type the actual address :-) ). Thanks and we hope to meet you this winter!! John & Jeanette

Do any of your rooms have King size beds?
Answer from Jeanette P
Bethel, Maine
Hello Kara! Unfortunately we do not have any king sized beds, all of our rooms have queen size beds. We do have two rooms that have a second bed and we can pit air mattresses in all but one of our rooms. The mattresses we use are 16 inches thick and have velour tops so they are very comfortable. Let us know if you have any other questions. Please feel free to call as well if you need to - 207-824-3400. Thanks for checking with us and we hope to meet you soon! John & Jeanette Poole
