This is the second year we have stayed at Boathouse Way and we love it there. It's family friendly and the cottages are so clean and well maintained. We stayed in the Downeaster and the Whalesback cottage. Both were fantastic and our family of 4 fit comfortably. The cottages have everything you need for a week long stay. Missy and... More

First off, let me just say WOW! This home is absolutely a vacationers dream. It has everything and more you can ask for. We are picky people and this place far surpassed our test. Reading the last "terrible review" on Tideway I was a little hesitant on still vacationing here, but we are sure glad we did. To clarify from... More

We stayed in the Whalesback September 5-12. It was super quiet, being the end of the season. The bedroom with the two twin beds was perfect for our kids and the queen bed for us was very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed and the washer/dryer in the bathroom was a life saver after long hikes or days at... More

We stayed here from August 15 - 22. The property has several cottages on site. Each has a different layout. The neighbouring cottages (and neighbouring houses) can be seen from each rental but privacy wasn't an issue due site location, distance and trees. We rented Boathouse Cottage which is at the end of a lane. It is a single storey... More

I have stayed at TIDEAWAY several times and have enjoyed every trip. I love sitting on the glassed in porch to read while the tide goes in and out and the sun shines in.. So peaceful, serene and life slows down! Just what is needed to get away from my hectic life in Massachusetts. The house is beautiful and very... More

Checked in at Tideaway last night. Pictures and literature on the boathouse way cottage site advertise ample water views. Unfortunately, they neglect to mention that at this location, the cove is filled with silt. Hence the name Tide-away? To add insult to injury, the road, on which the house is immediately located, is under construction. The back up beep on... More

Wow, eight years of rentals and my first negative review: yes the tide does go away it also is high tide twice a day. The long views down the harbor stay the same no matter the tides. Many happy returning tenants even with the unplanned road construction. The early moring noise was not the road construction but the boats in... More

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Driftwood Cottage- great space, private, comfortable bed, amazing kitchen! Eveything we needed - towels (both beach and bath!), pots and pans, a soft cooler, ice packs, coffee pot. We also had daily visits from the owners' orange cat, Oliver, which my husband especially loved :). We took advantage of the... More

We just returned from a two week stay at Boathouse Way Cottages. We've stayed here every year for 10+ years and absolutely love it (see our previous review for details). The cottages are cozy, super clean, beautifully maintained and perfectly outfitted for our family of four. In fact, we found ourselves eating breakfast and dinner at the cottage more frequently... My boyfriend and I stayed in the Driftwood Cottage. We both loved the place and have zero complaints, but I have a potential warning... CAT ALLERGY WARNING: The owners' cats seemed to hang out outside the Driftwood Cottage (it is fairly close to the owners' house) and one cat would watch us from our front porch every day while we... I can only repeat what the others have said. Lots of nice details in the decorating. Well-appointed. Very comfortable. Canoes and kayaks, and even a couple bikes, available for use.The pictures posted here and on the owners site are accurate. Comfort and cost were the trade off for a lack of waterview and being 30 minutes from Bar Harbor. It... More
