We stayed 3 nights in the Potting Shed cabin (2 adults). The cabin was very cute and cozy, and the campsite has partial sun/shade. The cabins are close to the restrooms which is convenient. The campground is quiet and not too crowded, and it is close enough to all Acadia has to offer.
I don't do a lot of camping but we had family staying with us and decided to take a trip up to Acadia. My SIL booked Bass Harbor campground after seeing it online. It was a great choice. We had a campsite with the electrical hook-up which suited us perfectly. The campground was clean, well kept and the staff were really friendly. The bathrooms and showers were all impeccably clean and tidy which, when you're camping and everything feels a bit messy, makes all the difference. Wood and ice are available for purchase which was convenient. It was the perfect spot for a couple of nights in Acadia. I'd recommend to anyone who may be considering.
Absolutely loved this campground on the quiet side of the island. Bar Harbor gets crazy busy in the summer so it is nice to get back to a peaceful and beautiful campground. We had a full hookup and my in-laws had a tent site, and everyone loved it.
We stayed for two nights in October, which was off-season. The location of the campground is great, you can walk to the Bass Harbor Head Light and the trails are close by. During the summer, the busses will stop right outside the campground - we had to drive ourselves because of the time of the year. The bathhouse was a little run down and not heated (it was cold during that time of the year). The sites are nice. There are not many sites for big RV's, most sites are for tents and smaller RV's.
Arrived late when it was pitch black and fortunately the campground was almost empty considering the season. We tent camped and were charged $37 even though we didn’t hook up or use facilities... not happy!
