Despite being located in a small Maine city this Residence Inn maintains the same standards as others we have stayed at across the country. The hotel is located walking distance from the Maine Savings Ampitheater (we were in town to see a show). Hotel facilities and rooms are modern, spacious and very clean. A lot of hotel properties in Maine, especially the farther north you go, are pretty worn out but that was not the case here. Service from everyone we encountered was upbeat and friendly. Is this a five-star property? Absolutely not. But a five-star experience when judged against expectations.

We were also pleasantly surprised to find out the lobby restaurant named Timber Kitchen is the highest rated restaurant in town. Our expectation was a basic pub/restaurant. Instead it offers creative dishes and cocktails not often seen in the average Maine restaurant (more Boston than Bangor)

Stayed here for 2 nights while in Bangor for a Stephen King tour. The hotel is located adjacent to the highway so is easy to find and has a large amount of car parking however we had no issues with noise and had 2 great nights sleep.

Check in was smooth and our room was surprisingly large - a large living area with kitchenette and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was separate with shower facilities and large sink area. There was enough storage space for clothes etc.

The hotel is around a 10/15 minute walk from the main downtown Bangor area and there is a petrol station situated directly adjacent. Depending on which room you get you may be able to see the infamous Paul Bunyan statue from your window.

The hotel was very clean and would recommend eating at the restaurant on ground floor. It gets quite busy so make a reservation if you can but it was probably the best place we ate while in Bangor. On food, the hotel does a fantastic breakfast buffet, with a range of hot and cold food which we couldn't recommend enough.

You get what you pay for. Yes, this hotel is the most expensive in the Bangor area, but the service, facilities and people who work at this hotel are all outstanding.
We got a free upgrade also because of our Bonvoy status. The room was spacious and very quiet.
The room cleaning lady was extremely helpful and took care of all our needs in a timely manner.
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who are planning to stay in the Bangor area.

Though I only stayed here one night, I can tell that I'd like to stay again, for longer. What a great hotel especially or those needing a place to stay for work. The room is extremely comfortable and we had a kitchenette complete with stove, fridge, DW, microwave, etc.... if you had to be away from home for work for an extended period of time, this would be a perfect room for you. The bed was extremely comfy, the bathroom was big and beautiful and the closets were also very big. There was also a small seating area complete with large work desk and television. Everything was immaculately cleaned.

Conveniently located right near an Irving gas station too!

The main lobby and entrance was decorated in an Autumn theme and they made a great effort to make it look festive. Breakfast is included and is typical for most Marriotts/Best Westerns/Etc.... Hot and cold offerings, self-serve. It was very clean and the seating area was quite large, with big windows, large workspaces for those who like to log into work with their morning coffee.

There is also a restaurant, Timber, attached to the hotel. I highly recommend going there for dinner. What a great place! Fantastic food.

The service by all has been exceptional! Out of the many Marriotts we have stayed in, this has been the most friendliest staff, best professional service, cleanest hotel! It’s one of the few that still have a hot tub and free hot breakfast! Marriott needs to take notice of what this hotel offers teaming up with a restaurant on site that offers great food and atmosphere that represents the history and area! The management need to know that your staff represent your hotel like they own it! 😊👍❤️

It is an Inn with freshness and youth located about a mile (nice walk) to the old town and a river runs by. Best part of the Inn is the restaurant! Far from modest priced, but wonderful service and tasty food. I asked for white wine but chilled. He brought me a little ice bucket to keep the carafe in! The salmon was good. Room, as with the style, is a suite and plenty of room well situated. Breakfast which was in the lobby lacked especially after the dinner.
Apples, eggs ( real?) typical breads, yogurt (my savior), juice.

Dear 994valm, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience. We are happy you enjoyed the hotel and the city of Bangor! I am glad you found the opportunity to dine in the restaurant and the service exceeded expectations. The Salmon is one of the best dishes I have personally had! I am sorry to hear you did not find the complimentary breakfast up to the same standard, but yes the eggs are real and cooked in a pan by one of our team members. If you are looking to indulge in the future please check out our customizable waffle station! Thank you again for choosing to stay with us and we hope to see you again soon! We were back up in Bangor this week for two nights and had another great experience here. David and his staff are by far the best people we have ever had the pleasure of interacting with at this Residence Inn Marriot property.
They are so friendly courteous and welcoming. We don't get the room service however every time we saw someone from housekeeping they always made a point to ask us if we needed anything for our room. The rooms are great clean and I always feel like I am at home as they are so comfortable.
The morning we left the gentleman at the front desk offered to get my wife a to go breakfast and the breakfast hadn't even started yet. Needless to say she was very impressed.
So if you are looking for a great experience I would recommend this hotel

Great hotel. Clean, comfortable, convenient and a great restaurant downstairs that is both stylish and has good food. Close to everything. Kitchen and bath seem brand new. Only complaint is carpet in my suite could use replacement. Excellent shower, lights on dimmers, USB ports where you need them, plenty of hooks in the bathroom.

Front desk people are nice and will give you a huge bag of ice for your room if you ask.

After driving 3+ hours and checking in we were notified of an additional fee for our dog of $100. This fee was not disclosed at the time of reservation online and not disclosed when we called on the way go make sure we were booked for a pet friendly suite. We asked to speak to management, but were told it was impossible as they left for the night.

Got in the elevator and had to get back out again since the receptionist didn't write our room number on the envelope or tell us our room number verbally. She was less than impressive to us at this point.

The room was clean. The linens were comfy as well as the bed. We had a kitchen, large desk space, pull out couch and queen sized bed. The shower was awesome.

We visited the pool with the kids during our stay. They have clean towels on the back of each lounger and stacks on the towel return area as well to choose from. No nasty chemical smell, which is nice. There was however two used band aids, one poolside and one hot tub side. My husband actually sat on one accidentally.

You could hear bumping around outside the room, but it's no worse than any other hotel.

The continental breakfast was great. They had croissants, toast, bagels, oatmeal, cereal, scrambled eggs, 2 different kinds of sausage, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit, juices, coffee (hot and iced), tea, milk, waffles, wraps and more. The lobby is large with many couches and tables, as well as a few TVs. The review about the lobby being uninviting is way off base.

There is also an on-site restaurant in the hotel, though we did not dine here. There was plenty of patrons inside though.

Would stay again as management did end up addressing the added charge for the pet fee.

Be sure to take a photo op with Paul Bunyon next door and pretend your in IT chapter 2 before you leave!
