Oak Alley Plantation was one of two plantations that we visited during on a day trip from New Orleans. We were blown away by the huge restored mansion with it's amazing grounds and grand oak lined alley or pathway, after which it is named. The huge pillared mansion survived Katrina and is one of the few plantation mansions left on...

The plantation has beautiful grounds to walk and the 45 minute tour of the home was very informative. The tour was reasonably priced. We took many pictures and enjoyed our visit. Must do when visiting NO!

My husband and I spent one night in Cottage #3 in July. Room: The cottage itself is exactly that, a fully functioning unit with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living and dining room. The inside of the cottage is definitely not modern, but instead maintains historic charm. The beds were tempurpedic and a dream to sleep on, and the large jacuzzi tub...

We stayed one night here while doing the river road plantation tours. We stayed in cabin 5B which was very cute. Did not have a tv which was a nice break. We got the food delivered to our room that night which was very nice. In the morning you get a free breakfast in the restaurant. But my favorite part...

This place is a romantic, bucolic, southern DREAM. One of the best sleeps we ever had in our lives. Full access to the incredible grounds at night. The oaks look like something from a fairytale comes to life. You can hear the soft choochooing of trains as you sleep on the tempurpedic mattresses. The staff was really friendly, everything is...

We stayed in Cottage #3, which was a wonderfully quaint experience. The Cottage has 6 rooms; 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, dinning room and a large bathroom. Out back there is a deck and in front a porch. What a pleasant difference from a hotel/motel room! At night we wandered the grounds under a full moon. Very magical. The...

I went to Oak Alley Plantation with a group of 8 girls and we loved it! The tour was excellent, however short as the house is not huge and has a short history. The grounds are beautifully kept. This is a great morning or afternoon activity for someone wanting to get out of the city for a bit of time.

This is the 3rd time I have been to Oak Alley. One in the 1970s once in 2007 and again today. Many improvements have been made. The inside tour is nice but not the best that River Road has to offer. The grounds are gorgeous! There are now some slave quarters made based on pictures of how it once was....

We visited Oak Alley in May & it was absolutely gorgeous . We had a great tour guide that was funny & entertaining. My 12 yo thought it would be boring but actually enjoyed the visit . We even bought an oak sapling to bring home as a souvenir . Well worth the visit .

Stayed one night and enjoyed the grounds, cabin and tours. Arrived late and had meal in room. OK but average. Next time I would arrive to eat in restaurant. Breakfast was above average and made up for it. Would definitely go again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nowhere else in the south will you find such a spectacular setting! The story of Oak Alley Plantation began with a vision, an alley of 28 oaks later mirrored by a manor with 28 columns. In the early 1700’s an unknown settler planted twenty-eight evenly spaced oak trees in two rows leading from his humble cottage toward the mighty Mississippi River. Over a decade later, an aristocrat by name of Jacques Telephores Roman lured his New Orleans socialite bride to leave her city live life, to achieve his dream of becoming a sugar king. In 1839, Jacques and Celina built this spectacular mansion, leaving the Roman legacy for us to enjoy today. Come and enjoy her beauty and dream of her rich past. Explore 25 acres of history and romance, regret and rebirth, tragedy and triumph. Enjoy a Mint Julep or refreshing lemonade while strolling these historic grounds and see the legacies left by the Romans, the Stewarts and those in between. Step back in antebellum elegance and tour the Big House with a guide in period dress. And witness the reconstructed slave quarters to understand the lives of the workers whose labor made plantation life and its luxuries possible. Visit the Civil War Interpretive Exhibit which consists of a commanding officer's tent, staffed most days by one of our three Civil War interpreters. These interpreters, along with our video kiosk, will allow visitors to understand one of the most crucial periods in this nation's history. Enjoy small group discussions with one of our interpreters who are available to answer your specific questions.Dine with us and savor flavorful Cajun & Creole dishes in our Restaurant or grab a light lunch or ice cream in our Café. Browse our impressive Gift Shop. Spend a tranquil evening in one of our 19th century old cottages. Even plan a wedding, corporate or special event. There is just so much to experience at Oak Alley!  ... more   less
