We came upon this place via a third party site when looking for accommodation late one afternoon. Often in these cases the available lodgings aren't great but this time we struck a gem. It is an older style but so friendly and clean. Large rooms. Quiet location. Comfortable bed. Hot water for showers. Easy walk to town for dinner.
Breakfast was included and was served to us, most unusual these days. We probably ate more than needed.
Had we known about this place before yesterday we probably would have stayed a few nights but unfortunately we'd not done our research.
If you are looking for a base to explore the plantation area and the natural areas don't hesitate to book.

Thank You for the review and strong complements. This review will be shared today at our stand around morning meeting. As the owner of this hotel and traveled so much in my life, we understand the importance of hospitality. Some of what my wife Rhonda learned on the road is that we bring the good aspects of our travels, and share it with our guest. We used to watch the Hotel Impossible and reason why we have free bottle water upon check in. As far as breakfast goes, we serve breakfast for not so much for portion control, but for sanitary measures. It also allows us to interact with our guest. Thanks again for the excellent review! Happy Safe Travels, Greg and Rhonda Gaubert

While traveling from Indiana with 5 adults and two Bulldogs we appreciated the large rooms and pet friendly accommodations. The prices were reasonable and the AARP's discount was appreciated. The breakfast was wonderful with a great selection of hot and cold foods. Our server Crystal was wonderful and made us feel right at home during our week long stay...she was missed on her days off! Thanks for a great stay!!

I wanted to give 3 stars rather than one because I have stayed at this hotel multiple times and rather enjoyed the experience. The unfortunate thing about reviews is that most of us only write a review when it's a bad experience instead of when it's good. This time I had the unfortunate luck to get a room pool side where after a long night and looking forward to sleeping in, I was woken up several times after trying to go back to sleep, by the sounds of what could only be described as freight trains rolling past my window repeatedly. I understand this hotel is old and this may be one of those things you don't think about, but please consider changing your wheels to a quieter kind. In the other rooms that I stayed in, the a/c unit has always been below the window which helps to dampen the noises, but this room in particular, had it's a/c mounted on the back wall. My suggestion to anyone staying here, if you book a room and are a light sleeper, request street side. Pool side sounds like a busy train station.

Thank you Jennifer for your review. Sorry our house keeping equipment woke you up. On weekdays and weekends the the housekeeping staff does not start till breakfast service is over, plus fifteen minutes. They start 9:15AM on weekdays and 9:45 on weekends. If you took a street side room, we could of accommodate that request. The carts also service rooms on that side as well. Even then we could not control anyone who plays loud music from their vehicles or even an occasional loud muffler sound. If you had requested a quiet area, we would suggest at the end of the line for house keeping service and even better the second floor. Sorry we had no knowledge or unsure that a request was made for a quiet area. The carts that the housekeepers have are relatively new, but we will see if their is a solution. The reason we are fazing out the window units is a green additional savings of electrical, 28 amps for a window unit and 7 amps for a split unit. Maybe one way is we could address could include alarm clocks with sound sleeper effects. Thanks again, and hope to see you again soon.

It was really nice to meet you and your family on the property and chat about your travel vacation experiences. As we were speaking there is always something new to learn about hospitality. About ten years ago, I thought like you, and did think that about calling our breakfast a continental as a way of a upward complement. It really means juices, fruit, cereals, coffee and toast at the very least. We didn't realize that a hot breakfast actually is superior to a continental as we have 36 individual items on average. To keep it appealing, we do rotate some items in and out the menu. I'm just glad you liked it. Crystal will be pleased and surprised to get this review, it is always appreciated. We hope you return again, and maybe during the fireman's fair in mid October this year and even bigger in early May of 2022, Happy safe travels, All the best, Greg Gaubert

I took a trip to area to visit family recently. Last minute circumstances, I opted not to stay with family. I stayed at Carmel Inn over 2 weeks instead. Customer service was excellent. Staff was both helpful and knowledgeable. Krystal GREAT hospitality service in the morning at breakfast and Jamie late night customer service was both pleasing and appreciated. Janet was very helpful about future reservations as well.

Hotel itself may not be as upscale but the customer service more than make you happy to stay there. Rooms and grounds are clean and neat. Pool was always clean and crystal clear. Needless to say my granddaughter and I enjoyed our stay. Will definitely stay again in future and refer others as well. Thank you ALL for helping us have a pleasant stay. Have a Great New Year!

Beware of this place!! We could not sleep here it was very musty smell and my nephew has asthma and they would not refund our cash:( Nikki at the front desk is very rude to us as well! Not a people person!!!! It is sad how they treated us like an animal, what really topped it off was she walked off to another room telling me and my family to leave:( very unprofessional
We cane here to enjoy the area and have a good time and they ruined it
Out $212 then had to go find another room in town and spent another $130
So a total of $342 dollars for one night said and done
Can’t even get a manager name or number

I have no idea how this place is rated #1 in Thibodaux. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because the gal at the desk gave me a full refund without making a fuss.
We got in our room and immediately noticed it was filthy. Food in the floor, there was a sock between the mattress and headboard, something brown smeared on the bathroom door... Then my daughter found a chicken bone in the floor. We noticed there was no working smoke alarm. There was a giant hole in the wall that had been badly patched, it was awful. So I asked if we could move to another room, she said, "Oh that room wasn't cleaned this morning. I'm so sorry, take this other room."
Well that's disgusting but ok. So we get in the other room and it did look cleaner at first glance but then we saw the huge roach under the bathroom sink so we were like NOPE. We left and drove 20 more minutes into Houma. If you're just looking for somewhere cheap to stay, pick one of the chains.

Charming older hotel. Our room was clean, the water hot, the bed very comfortable, and the room quiet. Bonuses: Very friendly and helpful staff, nice restaurant and bar on premises (dinner was great) and a great location. You can get a brochure with walking tours of Thibodeaux and leave directly from the hotel. The old architechure is wuite interesting.
