Looking at the website and reading many reviews we did book 2 nights at the Finca Bellavista in house Mariaposa. Very excited to go there and everything is well explained up front. To be honest it was more. ASIC than expected and especially because (we...More

'The best holiday we've ever done'... This is the best compliment we can receive from a well-traveled guest. Thank you so much for the review, and I'm happy to hear that you were able to catch the rainforest on a full moon. It's such a...More

We stayed for two nights at Finca Bellavista and wish that we had not had to leave so soon! The property and the tree house were exquisite and the staff was top notch. Truly a rustic, jungle experience. The half mile hike to our treehouse...More

Thanks for the review Heather! I agree, 2 nights isn't enough - definitely 3-4 is great for the first-time visitor to FBV. Hopefully we see you again soon and you can stay longer (:

Congrats on your upcoming trip to Finca Bellavista! You're gonna love it. I visited back in May and took a flight on Nature Air from San Jose to Golfito and hired a driver from Costa Rica Drivers to take us from there to the Finca. The flight from San Jose to Golfito is about 45 minutes from take off to touch down and the views are incredible! Just one word of advice if you do decide to go this route -- the planes are not pressurized because they fly at a lower altitude so you're not allowed to bring any aerosol cans on board. I wish I would have known this beforehand because they ended up confiscating our bug spray. :( The car service was $90 USD which sounds a little high, but it's roughly 45-60 minutes from Golfito to the Finca and it was reassuring to know I didn't have to rely on my intermediate Spanish skills to instruct the driver on how to get there. Plus, they drop you off right in front of the office so there's no walking involved. Our driver was extremely friendly and greeted us at the end of the runway in Golfito with cold bottles of water, so I highly recommend this. Unfortunately, I don't have much insight on the second leg of your trip to Jaco, but Christian at Finca Bellavista has a great relationship with the cab drivers in the area and was able to negotiate a decent fare for us to get back to Golfito...so he should be able to help you get a nice rate from Finca to Jaco or at least to the nearest bus station. Best of luck on your trip and I hope you enjoy it!

Hello, first of all let me say that if you like the outdoors and enjoy a good hike you’ll be sure to have a good time at FBV. Unfortunately we did not stay at either of those houses… but we were lucky enough to tour Casa Mariposa, although we did not see the inside of Casa del Tigre we were able to see it on our way to the waterfall. I have attached a map of FVB hoping this will give you a better idea of the houses and their location in references to everything else. Casa Mariposa is one of the houses furthest away from base camp but it my opinion it has some of the best views and its location does allow one to be closer to the highest view point “La Punta”. Casa Mariposa has a very welcoming and homey feel to it, the kitchen is quite spacious if you plan on cooking during your stay this may be beneficial, the porch is sizable with couches and rocking chairs to enjoy the view, the bedroom has one full size bed and a bunk bed, the bathroom is simple but has all the necessities. I hope this is helpful, if you have any follow questions please let me know. –Pura vida!
