We truly enjoyed the hotel. The checkin process was good, there were multiple luggage carts and the elevators worked. We normally pack a lot of cold stuff so the refrigerator was small but worked well. We asked and were given permission to use a break room freezer to put our freezer packs into so they would be ready when we checked out. Very nice. The breakfast was wonderful. They used real eggs for the scrambled eggs and they were velvety and delicious. Community Coffee is served and they had both bacon and sausage, plus grits and bisquits. Staff was helpful, the bed was comfortable with both firm and less firm pillows so you could pick. AC was working very well.
The things that didn't work - the hot water wasn't hot. It was lukewarm. Just turn on to full hot and don't expect it to get much above 90 degrees. While we had booked through Priceline, the hotel gave us a second invoice with a different rate (lower) but said we were only charged the Priceline price and the 2nd invoice was for their internal system. That doesn't seem smart to show their margins and I'll be checking the CC statement in the next few weeks to make sure. The room was made up but the towels were not replaced during our stay, Not a big deal but it is an observation. As someone noted in another review, the back door on the 1st floor is not secured. This means anyone from anywhere can just walk in. Didn't like that. Had no problem parking but was there on a Tuesday-Thursday visit so probably not an issue during the week.
It is one block off of Front Street and easy walking distance to the river and shops along the river.
Will stay here again.

It was about a 50/50 for me to rate as a 3 or the 4 I finally settled on. I chose 4 because I do think efforts are being made. Some renovations are underway, and the staff was friendly, and looked to be working to capacity. The reality likely is that the hotel, as with so many service industry locations, is notably understaffed. The existing housekeeping personnel looked to me to be making great efforts - but we kept seeing the same persons on all floors, working what seemed to be long hours. The breakfast was free, but it has come down a notch from a previous stay a few years ago. The first morning, a clearly unenthusiastic fellow went through the motions of plopping the limited, barely warmish items on quite cold plates. That was the only less than fine interaction with staff we experienced. We did have better experience with a young lady who served us the next morning, was friendly, had warmer foods and better selection, and started us out with warmer plates. All in all, breakfast was no better than self-service hotel chains. While efforts were being made, that still didn't impact the two less desirable parts of our experience. We were staying in a suite with a separate hallway that accessed our and two other suites. There was a hefty buildup of dirt and dust and even a paper towel which stayed there throughout the entirety of our stay. I will again cite the lack of adequate staff. The less excusable element, however, was the entry door to our suite. It was not at all properly hung, and in order to close or open it, a substantial amount of lift on the handle (my wife, who is no wimp, couldn't even do it the first half dozen or so attempts) while also pushing or pulling to close or open it. An older or less physically capable guest would have been completely unable to do so. We waited until check out, though, to tell staff - who wants that sort of repair effort underway during a stay - or repair staff having the door open while plans were to be out and about with secured belongings in the room? That brings up the last concern: the height of the bed. I am 5 ft, 9-1/2 inches tall - not tall, but not short. I could not simply sit on the side, and then recline due to the height. I either had to sort of roll into the bed, or hop up slightly onto it. And every single time I got up, when I arose from a seated position, the spring was catching as it expanded, and was loud enough that my wife thought it was something metal hitting the wall. It was far from a comfortable mattress to me, although that may be a subjective thing. But the spring seemed out of character for anything other than an older, tired mattress. And the height would also be a struggle for less physically capable persons. Again, I chose the rating of 4 due to staff friendliness and efforts, as well as the obvious signs that refurbishing is being attempted. And the lady at the desk as I checked out did add the door to a list of items to be addressed. But it was a very close thing - I wish that Trip Advisor offered 3.5 as an option...neither 3 nor 4 is an entirely accurate representation of our stay.

The hotel is beautiful and very clean, and the staff was awesome. BUTTT-- I have seen many reviews on the towels and how bad they are, well it is true, the towels are as old as the hotel, the staff knows as everyone complains and they just keep apologizing to the guests. REALLY management you can go to Walmart and get dollar towels in better shape than the ones you give guests, they are holey and threadbare and not just one or two ALLL of them. You should be embarrassed. I mean really embarrassed. The only other complaint is the air conditioning unit- you may want to dust or change the filters, the dirt on the bottom of the curtains from the air conditioner was appalling.

I stayed here Easter weekend. Pros: good breakfast, different every day Great location Staff: The female manager on duty from night shift when I checked out was on top of her game and had all outside exits locked. Housekeeping and breakfast staff are great Cons: 1. The back door isn’t locked. The only time it was locked was when I was checking out at 6 am. The manager on duty (see pros, said she kept it locked). Big safety issue 2. Parking and accessibility. Parking is behind the hotel or across the street. Obviously, parking across the street is a problem for handicapped. Because everyone wants to park in back, cars make their own parking spots in a random manner which can interfere with others entering or leaving 3. Cleanliness. The towels in the bathroom were all disarranged when I arrived. I received new towels but the disarray was suspicious. Another person on my floor said his room smelled of weed. When the blinds are open, one can see the streaks on furniture from cleaning Since it be stayed at most Natchitoches hotels, I’d likely stay again if I couldn’t stay at my preferred location

Meager breakfast (no coffee), no coffee machine in our room and our request for one was refused, no bar soap for anyone, puddles of water on the hall floor that were not cleaned up for 18+ hours. But here's the kicker -- Two of the three guest floors had NO water for hours on the night we were there. We registered for one night with the possibility of two, just stayed one, were charged for both and were first refused a refund. It came eventually after some pressure.

I rarely leave reviews, but felt I needed to for this hotel as the reviews I read are not close to the experience. I stayed at the hotel for the Christmas festival and understand somewhat that rates may be higher at this time, but I paid over $500 per night for a double queen room and the room was 2 star at best. We paid extra for an historic view which was a parking lot. Hotels should not be charging such rates if they cannot meet a certain standard. Old furniture, and extremely dirty despite housekeeping coming in. I don’t think the room has been dusted in years, it was extremely thick on the side table, bed frame, coffee maker and bathroom. The floors have not been cleaned, our feet were black from walking on them. Housekeeping came in, and only changed the towels and gave one toilet role. They walked right past a dirty sink and shower. Mirrors I don’t think are cleaned properly with streaks and splatter from water use in the sink. Bedding and linens can use replacing. Breakfast is not free you have to pay $11.50 each day then you get the breakfast, it also was not worth the $11.50. Coffee was in the room but not replenished despite us asking it to be. Parking is not sufficient for the hotel and yes the walls are very thin, but overall we did not have an issue with this. Only positive was location to the historic center, but I don’t think with today’s hotel standards that justifies the cost. It is rather sad as it could be a really nice hotel if taken care of with customer satisfaction in mind.

Overall experience was pleasant. Check in and breakfast being two highpoint of our stay. The desk clerk named merideth was very helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we had things we needed thru out our stay and gave us lots of helpful information about the area, as we were not familiar with it. Breakfast was a delight and the lady serving breakfast named latonya was delightful as well. Only issues with our stay was dust in some areas of the room. The floor needing to be more properly swept and mopped edges of the bed and bed skirt.

First time visiting Natchitoches with my family of 3. The city is beautiful as well as the structure and interior of the Chateau Saint Denis Hotel. Breakfast was good!
Great workers during our stay were:
Front Desk blonde hair who checked us in (apologies I cannot remember her name) who went above and beyond to make our stay great.
Darious who was a great bartender our first night as well as breakfast attendant for the mornings.
Theresa who has a great attitude and smiled when accommodating us for any needs. . Guest rooms and hallways need a lot of attention. We checked in, went to our room (we booked the historic view which we definitely DID NOT GET--according to one of the front desk clerks), looked around and took our concerns to the front desk associate with blond hair. While speaking with her there was an additional associate, who spoke very defensively, who saw what I was jotting down to be corrected and went around the corner to snicker about me addressing my concerns. Another in my group was witness to this. Very inappropriate as these were cleaning issues. Ms. Front desk agent did not hesitate as she took my concerns and physically went to search out a housekeeper to complete the cleaning in our room. She was very quick to accommodate us, without a defensive response, which we were very pleased with! Fabulous Ms. Theresa came a few minutes later to clean our room and give us a few extra towels, Kleenex, and toilet paper.
Hallways had big wet spots/stains where linen and guest room trash were set outside of the checked-out rooms that were being cleaned.
Guest rooms' air conditioning grills were heavily dusty and moldy. Towels in the bathroom were disarray. In addition, the shower was moldy in the grout and glass door tracks. Closet/desk mirror and television had bad smudges on them. The headboards were full of handprints from previous guests. No ice bucket lid, food splatter on the black mat and coffee maker, toilet paper as if someone used it before we got there, iron cord dangling to the closet floor, pillow awfully stuffed into the pillowcases like a ball, and our sheets were inside out. The beautiful deck/patio area with fountain was great. Guests left their beer cans and bottles on the tables which was displeasing but, in their defense, no trash can was conveniently available anywhere outside of the building. My mother who cannot walk long distances was not pleased with parking across in lot B that needs more lighting for guests.
My family had a great weekend!
Thank you,

My family and I traveled from Dallas, Tx, to Natchitoches La this weekend. We booked our hotel through what we thought was the front desk of Chateau Saint Denis. However, upon our arrival, we found out it was a 3rd party company, "Reservation Desk" that booked our reservation and took our payment, and there were NO ROOMS available. Thank God for Naomi Jones and Sara Davis. They quickly explained what happened and jumped into action to help us. The hotel was full; they had guest departing from a livestock show and more guest coming in. They were patient and dillegent while trying to accommodate my family and took care of other guest during all of this chaos. Their professionalism was above and beyond (larger hotels should pay attention to how they worked together to resolve the issue) and after going through their system, they were able to find us a room. Their customer service was on point! Thank you ladies!! we appreciate everything you did. ~Tina Honore-McGaskey

Positive: clean room, comfortable bed, good location
Negative: Staff was extremely unfriendly. The front desk was never occupied, had to wait 2-5 minutes for service every time. When checking in the only words spoken to us were “sign here” and then she mumbled to us where are rooms were. Called the front office at 7:00 Saturday morning asking for an iron and we were told that the housekeeping is in charge of that and doesn’t come in until 8:30. We were in no hurry, so we waited patiently. At 8:40, we called the front office again and we were told “we apparently don’t have any or you would have one by now.” I will never stay here again.

I would guess since you haven't received an answer , that usually is a "no". I didn't see anything about accepting any pets on their amenities section. You can always call and ask.
We enjoyed our stay at Chateau St. Denis and did not question the additional fee. The central location and free parking in the downtown area seemed like a bargain.
There are more places to choose from in the Natchitoches area.
