We stayed here on our birding trip to Trinidad. Wonderful and comfortable cabin. Fine meals and should add that the staff was wonderful. The grounds are well worth exploring for birds and other animals. Had a great time. Last day we just sat on our balcony photographing the birds and talking.
I came on a yoga retreat. The cabins were really beautiful and had all the relevant amenities. Great place for bird watching and the feeders brought the humming birds to you. If you really want to escape the hustle and bustle this is a great place. My only complaint is I had requested the Nightjar cabin and I got Gallinule which would have been fine but it was the furthest one from my group and as I was staying there by myself I would have preferred to be closer for a feeling of safety and security.
Immerse yourself in a rustic beautiful clean cabin surrounded by natures splendor. We love staying here, the sounds of wildlife permeate everywhere. A perfect escape from the city. Ezrah, Jessy and Simon made us feel welcome and completely at ease.
This place is nature paradise, birds and other wildlife, the beautiful sounds of this place can put your mind at ease. The local food served is fresh and delicious. Clean, comfortable and safe. The people are welcoming, Ezrah brought us to our cabin, set us up and answered every question we had. Jessie saw that we were interested in birds and showed us magnificent hawk and hummingbirds, I would live here in an instant if they let me! If you like the Hyatt and such fancy stuff, you should definitely stay in the city. If you love nature, sustainability, flowers, lots of trees and want to sleep in a comfortable clean cabin with the sounds of a garden of paradise, then come on over! A breath of fresh air.
Hacienda is good for a staycation weekend get-away or for vacationers who are looking for a nature-oriented quiet space. There are 5 wooden, self-contained, air-conditioned cottages at the side of a large pond. There are walking paths around the gardens and the 2 ponds. There is an abundance of birdlife and caiman in the ponds (the manager will be happy to show you the eyes at night) and you can learn to identify them by their sound and can see the snouts peeking through the lilies. There is a nice pool for relaxing with drinks with a gazebo nearby. The manager also keeps stocks of many meals that you can purchase and heat up. He also stocks fresh juices. A great place to visit in the time of COVID
Our four year anniversary was spent in Lapwing Cottage which offered an exceptional view of both lakes. The atmosphere was mesmeric. The bedrooms were beyond expectations (clean, well laid out, air-conditioned, good storage) & the beds were definitely comfortable. On arrival, Simon made us feel at home and regaled us with some stories of the lakes. We're sad that we didn't get to meet the resident caiman. The availability of meals (which included excellent meal options) made the stay even better. We brought our own sustenace but couldn't resist ordering food. We thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by the hum of nature. There's nothing like eating breakfast with hummingbirds. All in all, Hacienda Jacana feels like home & we look forward to staying again. Stayed at this Lodge over a weekend in August. This place is without doubt one of the best hidden away places in Trinidad. The host, Simon, was excellent and he made the stay even better. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. The pool is small but well suited to the environment. The cottage is brilliant and very well kept. The facilities available are exactly as needed for a family stay. I rate this resort 5+ and will definitely recommend.
We stayed for a one night in celebration of our 11th anniversary. We were really blown away on arrival. We stayed in the wood rail cottage The cottages are so breathtaking and the grounds well maintained and so peaceful. We were afforded a very early check in and late check out which seems standard and is definitely an edge over the other hotels I have stayed at. Lots of time was spent on our balcony just relaxing and indulging in the view and environment. The cottages are very well equipped. They offer more than your typical self catering set up like coffee, sugar, salt, black pepper and even a drinking water dispenser. They offered bathing soap, hand and dishes soap. They had all the wares and utensils you would need to prepare any meal. We took the convenience of the frozen meals. They were so delicious, from the time you smelt them being heated up to the last spoon. And the ice box cakes were so yummy. And this option was very very affordable. There is a bonus. A swimming pool, also very well maintained and much appreciated for some entertainment. The TV came equipped with a fire stick. Simon was a great host, very accomodating and warm. This is our new first choice staycation destination. It offers alot more in terms of ambience and convenience . Will return again and again. …
We spent the weekend in Gallinule cottage. The cottage itself was perfect - well kitted out with all the essentials, even down to the kitchen implements. A/C in the bedrooms was welcome, and it was nice to have the option to keep the rest of the house open to the breeze. More importantly, the setting was absolutely stunning - epiphyte-laden trees, lilypad-covered pond, hummingbirds at the balcony. Highlights included a self-guided night walk with flashlights where we spotted various lizards, frogs and insects, day and nightime paddles in the canoe to spot baby caiman in the pond, and spending time in the small swimming pool introducing our 4mth old baby to swimming. Simon was an excellent host, offering us welcome insights into the local wildlife and making sure we were comfortable. Will definitely visit again and recommend to friends.…
Stayed in Nightjar for the weekend from Friday to Sunday for my birthday. We arrived on Friday night and check in with Simon was the smoothest we've ever experienced anywhere. The drive to and the overall feel of the place at night is really something that will leave you awestruck as the sounds of nature keeps buzzing through the night. Our cabin was comfortable and equipped with everything that we needed and then some. We liked using the Corelle plates and bowls. The only thing missing from our cabin was salt but I guess there was a mix up as we had two containers with white sugar. We saw many different hummingbirds and even saw a toucan. Simon showed us a hummingbird nest and we enjoyed our conversations with him. My only concern was that there were some very noisy kids while we were staying and this affected us a bit. For this reason I guess it's better to stay during the week or when school is ongoing. There are no restaurants close by but we found a good supermarket about a 10-15 minute drive away which was well equipped with everything that we needed. Food can be purchased at the property though. To sum this review up, we will return but preferably during the week or when school is ongoing. If you're a nature lover then this is a great place to experience. …
