We stayed at Michabelle for our anniversary and had a great night. The Oriental room was clean and large. The soaking tub was so relaxing, I took two baths during a one night stay. The bed was comfortable, and the front porch was nice to have for enjoying a cup of coffee. The breakfast was delicious as well. The location is close to downtown, which offers plenty of places to eat and drink. The only negatives (that are so minimal I’m still giving it a full 5 stars) are as follows: the Keurig didn’t work quite right (it only made half size cups and needed to be de-scaled according to the display), the shower pressure was so low that it took forever to wash my hair (however, I do have extremely thick hair and some people love the rain-shower style shower head, so that may be more of a personal preference), and some sort of critters got into a fight under the cottage we stayed in at 3:00 in the morning, which was pretty funny but still scared the heck out of us. We will definitely stay again in the future!…
Traveled to Hammond two weekends to enjoy RenFest (awesome by the way). We were celebrating a 40th anniversary hard to schedule (husband works 24/7 and I do freelance editing that requires lots of availability). The first weekend we stayed at a fairly high-ranked chain hotel, ugh, all fancy window-dressing lobby followed by dismally dirty room, ratty carpet, no breakfast, etc. So second weekend we visited Hammond, we booked at the Historic Michabelle B&B, super clean, charming, enchanting place with details polished but not obnoxiously so. Moved from that room to a cottage suite because we wanted a jacuzzi. A small issue was low-key quickly dealt with by David. The next morning a great breakfast, just our style, not over the top with tons of heart attack food but deliciously decent, restrained, well-thought-out sustenance on gorgeous china. I feel dumb for not having booked this place the first weekend we came down instead of the chain place. We hope to come back to Michabelle every December.…
While passing through Louisiana we needed a place for the evening with about three hours notice. What a find! The place is incredibly charming and our room made me feel like a queen. If you are into anything historic you must stop and stay here. The grounds are beautiful, large room, great bed for a great night sleep, and a charming host. Make time to chat with the host, he has some amazing experiences.
We spent a night at the Michabelle Inn to unite with old friends, another couple, including golf at Carter Plantation (an excellent David Toms-designed course in Springfield, LA, 12 miles and 20 minutes away) and dinner at Tope La (fantastic) in Downtown Hammond (less than a mile away, but do drive or Uber there). We booked two hallway-adjacent Evangeline and Marie Antoinette rooms in the Main building, second floor, both of which had access to the front balcony allowing us to chat after dinner and while having coffee before breakfast. The owner and host, David, was terrific and the breakfast courses were delightful: juice, fruit cup, croissants, eggs, sausage, potatoes and great coffee too. The nightly rate, which includes breakfast for two, is a real value. We chose to stay in Hammond because of its easy intermediate access to each couple, from New Orleans and Baton Rouge, and its nearby five-star golf and restaurant offerings. Thanks to David for a great stay at the Michabelle Inn!…
My Fiance' and I travel frequently from Tallahassee to Houston and vice versa. On this trip while in Houston I severely injured my back and could not make the full 12 hour drive from Houston to Tallahassee. We decided to split the trip up and I saw the Michabelle Inn on trip advisor. Since Hammond LA was right in the middle I called and spoke with David the owner to see if he had any first floor rooms available they had one left the Orleans Suite and I booked it. So glad I did! The place is beautiful, right near I-12 (NOLA Bypass) and perfect for what we needed. I normally will book a B&B if I can, like them much better than the run of the mill hotel. Our room was very nice had a living area comfortable couch, TV and table with two chairs. Bedroom was large comfy king size bed, large tub, TV, microwave and small fridge. Bathroom large with walk in shower and amenities needed. The owners were very nice and helpful! We did not plan to go anywhere so I could rest my back and they suggested a couple of restaurants, we chose Tope La, they had curbside pick up and it was delicious! The Orleans suite is in the gate house and is one of the larger more expensive rooms but still a good deal. If you don't mind stairs you can stay in the Inn on the second floor. In the morning we headed into Inn for the breakfast it was gorgeous and even had a house cat which sold me because I love cats. Breakfast was decent, coffee was very good and service was also great. On the wall there were many pictures, one had owner and Kevin Costner and the other had Woody Harrelson at the Inn, thought that was interesting. We will definitely be back to stay at the Michabelle, since we make that trip so often. If you are ever in Hammond LA the Michabelle Inn is the place to stay. Beth and Steve…
